Overview

Northwest Washington Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Large efficiency. 1 bed, 1 bath, sleeps up to 2 adults, 4 total.

Nice efficiency apartment in a popular neighborhood. Within walking distance to many restaurants, pubs, and cafes. It is very close to metro - only a 5 minute walk to the Shaw metro stop on the yellow line. Great for a couple, small family, or short-term work assignment. There is a private entrance and it is equipped with a large flat screen tv, that you can watch in bed on lazy days, high speed wireless internet, washer and dryer and full size kitchen.

The apartment includes a guest parking pass that allows you to park on the street for your entire stay.

There is corner market a block away that has essentials, a Giant supermarket a 15 minute walk or a quick ride on the G2 Bus (that picks up at the house). There are three other large supermarkets (Harris Teeter, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's) within a 1 mile radius.

Linens, towels, shampoo, dishes, pots, etc. are all provided

This is a completely private apartment on the ground floor of a townhouse on Cooper Circle with natural morning light from the front window and door.

Below is a map of the apartment location with my restaurant recommendations and and the route to the Shaw metro stop: http://goo.gl/maps/3FMk3

About Austin

Former Army officer, attorney and entrepreneur. I've lived in the neighborhood since 2001 and love it.

Austin purchased this apartment in 2001

Why Austin chose Washington DC

The apartment is ideal for people who want to be in a walkable neighborhood, close to metro, but who are on a budget. It's in historic Ledroit Park near U Street and Logan Circle neighborhoods.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Excellent stay! The apartment was well equipped, fun location, and close to the metro. Would definitely recommend!

Comfy bed, good location, clean and great price

  • 5 of 5

Clean apartment, comfy bed, free parking, good location few blocks from the metro. We did hear footsteps in the apartment above but it was nothing that bothered us at all. If it would have, we would have let the owner know. Ceilings are lower but we were aware of that before hand and it didnt interfere with our stay. Quick trip into downtown DC. We found a good coffee and muffin place called Uprising. We didn't like the Royal. It didn't taste good and they were a little rude. Try the pizza place the owner suggested! It seriously was the best. Next trip to DC we will probably stay at the same place. And the street parking was not hard to figure out at all either. The signs are clearly marked as to which side of the road to park on during their cleaning hours.

Great location with all the essentials

  • 4 of 5

Our family of four was in DC to see all the well-known sights. We drove in from out of town, so having the parking pass was perfect. We left our vehicle and used Uber to get around. The apartment was only a few minutes away from the National Mall, which kept our transportation fees low. I shopped at Giant our first night so I could cook dinners to save money. The kitchen had all the essentials which was really helpful. We did hear the noise of upstairs guests, but never had a problem with it after the "quiet time". The queen bed was comfortable and we slept well. I would, however, only recommend this place for 3, and not additional guests. There wasn't much space for the air mattress we needed for our son, but it was manageable for our length of stay. Overall it was a great experience in a well-equipped apartment with a quiet, convenient location.

Comfy Apartment

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I rented this apartment for our first time traveling to DC. We had never rented anyone's place using HomeAway and my husband was very leary about the concept. It worked out wonderfully! The apartment was perfect for our needs. There was a coffee maker which is a must for me; he even had coffee beans and a grinder! The bed exceeded my expectations in comfort; it was just as nice as our bed at home. The bathroom was spotless. Everything was clean and ready for us to use on our arrival. The owner has sent us several suggestions for places to eat and grocery shop while we were there. This was a lifesaver as we ended up arriving much later than we had anticipated and were starving once we were settled. A quick and slightly nerve-racking trip to the grocery store and we were all set. (The way people drive in DC was just plain crazy. Apparently, it is like Italy and the lights and lanes are just suggestions. lol) We fell in love with the food at the Bistro Bohem (a five minute walk from the apartment) and ate their almost every day of our trip. (The pork chops with glazed pears was delicious and the Czech Mule was divine!) The apartment was simple and met our needs. I loved it and would rent it again if I ever go back to DC!

*Thoughts for consideration: My husband and I are both below six feet tall which is good because the ceiling are low. I would not suggest this apartment for people near or over the six foot mark. Also, if your are picky about noise then this might not be the place for you. It definitely sounded like a herd of elephants above us but they were always quite by ten o'clock at night. It didn't bother us at all on our trip. To be clear these are not complaints; just information to consider if you are tall and dislike noise. As you can see, I gave this apartment a 5 star rating so I obviously I loved it!

Great Alternative to Generic Hotel

  • 4 of 5

The Cooper Circle apartment was everything Austin described it as. Austin addressed our novice concerns with the parking pass efficiently and helpfully. Only drawbacks were the low ceiling in the bathroom and directions to one of the grocery stores wasn't helpful (we couldn't find it). Love the convenience to the Metro, cleanliness, clear/helpful apartment instructions and the neighborhood was darling and felt secure. I will definitely recommend this apartment and VRBO in general. Thanks!

Nice, small apartment, close to all the attractions.

  • 4 of 5

My wife and I stayed here for three nights and had a lovely time. The place is definitely older, but remodeled. It is a basement apartment and has low ceilings, which isn't a big deal unless you are 6'5" like I am. The kitchen was very well stocked with plates, utensils, microwave, etc. There is a laundry room. The place was a five-minute drive to all the DC attractions, and a 5-minute walk from the Metro. The bed was very comfortable.

The place is small, but clean. Tile floors throughout. Nice big-screen TV. This is not a luxury apartment, so don't expect it to be. The neighborhood is okay, but not the nicest place in town. This place fully met my expectations.

The owner was extremely good to work with. He was very responsive before we made our trip, was available during our stay, and did everything he could to assure we had a good experience.

D.C. basement apartment

  • 4 of 5

I enjoyed my stay. Basement apartment conveniently located six or seven blocks from the Metro, not far from Howard University. Keyless entry was nice. The neighborhood parking pass was crucial. Interesting shops and good restaurants are within walking distance. Not a place for tall people. If over six feet tall get ready to hunch slightly by bed and in bathroom, though shower height fine. Some noise though minor in my opinion, i.e. rushing water in pipes, and upstairs toddler running to and fro. A clean and well lit place with kitchen and laundry. I would stay here again.
