We moved out to Parowan from the Clearwater FL area almost 10 years ago and LOVE southern Utah! So clean, tons of outdoor recreation, friendly people and so many national parks. We purchased the house which was built in the late 1800's and remodeled and added on to it while preserving the historical architectural features that make the home so special. It truly was a feat but feel that the home had already survived for over 100 years and we wanted to give it at least 100 more years! We know you will love it! It has the modern conveniences and so many amenities! Enjoy southern Utah and prepare to fall in love with Parowan (: Best wishes for a great vacation!
Mollie Bates purchased this house in 2003
The house is conveniently located just minutes away from hwy 15, right across from a gas station but still very quiet and secluded. It is also within short driving distance to the ski resort of Brian Head (half an hour) and the natural wonderland of Bryce Canyon (about an hour and half).
We arrived during Christmas holiday and the street was beautifully decorated with holiday lights. The house was a delight to behold. Its snow-covered roof tops added much charm and made it look like one from those fairy tale books. Inside it felt quite festive with its Christmas trees and holiday deco causally arranged around the house. There are many historical buildings in the town and the house has picture books telling their stories.
Our group had 29 people of adults and children of different ages. The house was spacious and has good design. Throughout the house there are many heart-warming decorations here and there. Each of the nine bedrooms carried a theme but its functionality and practical use were not compromised, all excellent reflection of the house owner’s dedication to make the stay a pleasant one for every guest.
We love the fully equipped kitchen with everything a good cook would need, from sets of utensils to all sorts of pots and pans, roomy fridges, spices, zip locks, trash bags, serving dishes of all kinds for any occasions. You name it! We had many happy memories and shared laughter in the kitchen and the dining room where we cooked and enjoyed the foods together.
There were good selection of books, table games, videos and other entertainment options suitable for all ages. We made good use of the large screen TVs for our group gatherings and the Wi-Fi signal was steady and strong throughout the house.
On the day when it was not snowing, the kids in our group went to the backyard. They made snow men, did snowball fights and had a blast on the trampoline.
We also love the well-stocked laundry room with its new washer and dryer. The snow shovels, ice pick and salt provided on the premise were very helpful as well. There was plenty of on-site parking for our group of 8 vehicles. The heater in the house worked well but it would be nice if there were extra blankets available.
All in all, this is truly a home away from home and we cannot say enough good things about this house. We highly recommend this house to anyone looking to share our experience!
We were a group of 4 families (18 people ) , we are 100% Satisfied with everything, the house has a plenty of space, rooms and bathrooms, the kids have fun every single day of our stay.
Mollie and her husband are the nicest persons in the whole world, they were looking for our comfort and always worried for us.
Thanks Mollie for everything!!!!, and for sure we will back on December 2016
What a great weekend in Parowan! The house is big and has lots of gathering places for large groups. We enjoyed the large kitchen, it was well stocked with everything you need to cook for a large group. When I booked I thought the home was in Brian Head but in the end we didn't mind that it was on main street Parowan, which is a cute little Utah town. The house is 30 minutes from Brian Head resort and 20 minutes from Cedar City but there is a small hometown grocery store 5 minutes away with everything you need. There was even a pass to the local fitness gym a couple of blocks away which several people in our group enjoyed. I would definitely recommend this home and would stay again. Thanks Molly!
The BIG House was perfect, great fun for everyone in our group ages 82 years to 6 months! So many options for activities in and around this charming location kept us all busy and entertained. Even during this summer's heat wave there were cool places to sit, relax and visit. Highlights for us included the multiple-workstation kitchen, ample bathrooms, and versatile sleeping options - especially the cute bunkhouse. Management assisted when needed but didn't hover. All-around great place to stay.
The home was spacious and comfortable, and had plenty of room for our crowd of nearly 50! The younger cousins had a blast in the new bunkhouse out back. The kitchen was well designed for serving large groups, and the backyard was shady in the evenings, so we had a huge outdoor dinners almost every night. The home has an interesting layout that allowed multiple activities to happen simultaneously without disturbing others. A local rancher provided a beautiful team of horses that pulled his wagon around town for some unforgettable hayrides to see a few of Parowan's historic sites. Lots of other activities were within walking distance, including the city pool. Several members of our family used the included passes to the Gym (only 2 blocks north) for a good workout. They all agreed that the facility was amazing! The home's location is so convenient with anything you'd need close by, but the town is so peaceful and quiet, we kind of felt like we had the whole place to ourselves! We'll be back! We have a huge list of things to discover in the area that we just didn't have time to experience on this visit. Really relaxing!
We've stayed in the home twice -- last summer for an adult sibling reunion, and then again this summer for a family reunion of 32 people. We had six adult couples and 20 grandchildren, ranging in age from 4-20. Everyone had a great time! We found sleeping accommodations for everyone. There were plenty of places for group gatherings to visit, play games, etc. There was ample space to prepare meals, eat, etc. We enjoyed using the barbecue and sitting in the back yard to visit. The home is convenient for visiting scenic places, such as Cedar Breaks, Bryce Canyon, Parowan Gap, etc. Our group consisted of families from Utah, Wyoming, and Arizona, and the location worked well for all of us. We all had a great time!
Petroglyphs, beautiful, picturesque National Parks, hometown conveniences and an beautiful home!
