A unique rural idylle

  • 4 of 5

As soon as you walk down the garden path to Maison Libellule you are greeted by the view of the majestic Loire. The house is comfortable, though a little dated. However, everything you need is there and the separate sleeping area with shower/wc makes it an ideal let for two families.

Sipping wine on the terrace overlooking the large sloping garden and the river offers a real holiday for the soul.

A downside is that the river is not for swimming, but this is compensated for by local swimming pools in nearby Briare, Gien and, our favourite, Belleville-sur-Loire.

The kitchen is well equipped and the general feel of the house is one of tranquility, harmony and friendly warmth.

Warmly recommended for travellers who enjoy being off the beaten track to enjoy ''true France'' at its best.

A unique rural idylle

  • 4 of 5

The moment you walk down the garden path to Maison Libellule you are captured by the wonderful view of the Loire River streaming by at the bottom of the garden.

The house is surprisingly large and divided into two separate sleeping areas with toilet/bathroom which makes it ideal for two families to share. The large sloping garden is ideal for children.

The interior is a little dated but that takes away nothing from the overall charm of the house, is harmonious atmosphere and its superb location. You start to unwind from the moment you enter the doors.

Although this is not a Loire hotspot, the area offers charming trips to the old canals in Briare, and typical Loire villages such as Chatillion s/l and Bonny S/L. Gien, half an hour's drive away was also well worth the visit.

The only downside on a hot day is that the river Loire is not for swimming in. It is too dangerous. But local pools abound. The closest in Briaire is a friendly cosy pool but our favourite was in Belleville S/L.. great for children.

Owner's Response: Thank you for this beautiful testimony. The incredible view of the beautiful river remains for me a gift every season ! Live several families in this house is simple, joyful and see the children running down running the garden is truly magical too. You are quite right ! Soon the little house will also allow to accommodate a couple or a small family with a wonderful view always even closer to the Loire ...

  • 5 of 5

  • 5 of 5

  • 5 of 5
