It was a wonderfully, spacious apartment! We loved the many large rooms. Bathrooms were clean and updated. Furniture was in good condition. And location was great! A little away from the crowds and hustle and bustle. The only negative was a strong sour smell from the kitchen sinks! Maybe more thorough cleaning. But we just opened Windows for fresh air.
Upon arrival Leonardo showed us around this amazing massive historic apartment. It truly is full of antiques, chandeliers and painted fresco ceilings that lived up to our expectations. The owners supplied extras such as welcome pack and shampoos. Bedrooms were very comfortable with lots of storage space, hangers and beautifully appointed with extra sitting rooms. Our only complaint was the lounge was past its use by date and needs to be replaced to keep up with the standard set by the rest of the apartment. Lots of great restaurants within walking distance. As others said, it is 15 minute walk to Ponte Vechhio but nice to be away from crowds of Florence. We would highly recommend this property to small group or 3 couples.
We stayed here in perhaps the hottest week in Europe. Each day in Florence was 100 degrees. With two kids and a lot of walking around the city, coming back to the apartment was an absolute pleasure. It is large and large by American standards, the air conditioning is very good, clean and quiet. Bit of a walk to the Duomo and the central tourist area of Florence but regardless, for a family, a good change from the cramped hotels.
Nice property, however needs work for the price paid. Needs a deep cleaning, windows , mirrors etc. wifi worked with two on but not for more. No English speaking TV channels like BBC and CNN. Living room furniture not nice. Nice location and quite. Bath rooms good. Kitchen was very good .
Staying at this beautiful apartment was definitely a highlight of our trip. It was amazing!
Jack and Leonardo were extremely helpful from first inquiry contact through checkout. They could not have been any nicer or more accommodating. It was a pleasure to meet Leonardo in person upon arrival after having emailed questions and plans. He was very friendly, spoke perfect English, and provided all of the necessary information we needed for a very pleasant stay. He also arranged for a taxi to take us to the train when we were leaving. (Be sure to check out the coffee table book that shows Leonardo's master woodworking skills.) We were especially grateful that we were allowed to have a late checkout (at no extra charge) because no one was arriving the day we were leaving. This enabled us to pack more activities into our time and not worry about where to store luggage. We thought that was most gracious of Jack and Leonardo.
The apartment is exactly as described and shown in the photos. It is absolutely beautiful, immaculate, and well-equipped. And HUGE! There is a long (90 foot) hall, off of which are all the rooms - living room, dining room and study on one side; kitchen, bedroom/bath, bedroom/sitting room/bath (suite) on the other side; master bedroom/bath at the end. When we arrived, my husband asked which door was ours, not realizing ALL of the rooms made up the apartment! It is gorgeous, as you can see from the photos. We loved hanging out in the big living room. The kitchen was fantastic. Very nice to have a clothes dryer. All top-end appliances. The bathrooms were great. My daughter enjoyed the jacuzzi tub. Lots of storage and hangers provided. No problem of any kind whatsoever. It was amazing to stay here - we felt like royalty!
The location is nice. It's about a 15 minute walk to Ponte Vecchio or the Duomo. It was nice to get away from the crowds and have a quiet place for the evening. There is an excellent supermarket - Esselunca - about 1/2 mile down Via Pisano (away from town) - easy walk - just stay on same side of street as the apartment to make it easier to cross at the traffic circle by the market. Do NOT go to Trattoria Sabatino - we tried it because it was the closest - just through the gate - but it was awful food and service. Should have gone to the couple of places that were indicated as favorites on the sheet in the helpful info binder.
Completely recommend this apartment with absolutely no reservation whatsoever!
We stayed in this lovely Florence apartment in May 2014. It is in quiet, secure building overlooking the Porta San Frediana gate, and only 1 block from the Arno river and the Vespucci bridge. There are 2 ATM machines within 50 meters of the apartment, which we found to be very convenient.
The descriptions and photos in the listing are quite accurate. The apartment is very spacious. The kitchen in particular is also roomy and well appointed. Having a clothes dryer, in addition to the washing machine, was a nice touch that is not common in other areas we visited in Italy, as was the elevator in the building.
Leonardo was responsive to an issue we had with the hot water heater going out, and Jack made an equitable adjustment in our rental fee with no prompting. We felt that this was handled very fairly; this action spoke VERY well of the owner and his desire to ensure his guests have a good experience; we could not have asked for a more fair resolution. We can provide a high recommendation of this excellent property and would not hesitate to stay there again. Grazie, Jack and Leonardo!
