Diane and Christopher. We live and work in Austin, TX. Chris is a PhD clinical psychologist and Diane a Speech-Language Pathologist.
We visited Bethel, ME in 2011 and knew that this was a place we want to bring our family for many years to come. Growing up in the panhandle of Texas, (Diane) and Iowa (Chris), we had NO idea that Maine was such a fabulous state to visit! We were enamored with the area and chose this beautiful cabin which we immediately remodeled, then added a screened gazebo and fire pit to better enjoy the beautiful outdoors. Each year we continue to add features and upgrade because we consider each guest a special part of our endeavors to provide a wonderful vacation.
Diane Dalton purchased this cabin in 2011
Where do we begin.....Ski magazine has hailed Bethel, ME 'The Greatest Ski Town In the Universe' and '#1 Best Skiing in New England', GOLF #1 'Best Public Golf Course in the Northeast' (2014). Bethel was also listed in the top 10 'Best Outdoor Places in America', offering hiking, biking, canoeing, rafting, and Bethel's Outdoor Adventure Park.
We first visited the Bethel area in the summer of 2011. We immediately fell in love with the area and its friendly people. There were countless activities from which to choose for our 15 y/o daughter and her friend. We played golf on the spectacular Sunday River #1 Ranked (GOLF 2014) course, hiked, canoed, and white-water rafted. On the weekend, we went to Sunday River Resort where we did the zip line and went down the mountain to the brewing company, where we had delicious hamburgers and a flight of beer. Sunday River also offers hiking and mountain biking at various levels of expertise.
The restaurants were fabulous! We dined at the tavern, Suds, where we listened to great live music. Later, we ate at a world renowned 22 Broad Street 4-star restaurant, where we had wonderful Italian food. There were many cuisines available....or you can cook your own delicious meal!
We were sold once we discovered that the best snow and golf course in the Northeast is Sunday River. Our family loves both winter and summer sports so this scenic place was perfect!
Since 2011, when we purchased our lovely cabin, it has been such a joy to offer our guests new and beautiful features. Every year, we determine what our guests and family would enjoy and add those features/items to the cabin.
What a wonderful time we had in Bethel, Maine. I just wish we would have
had more time in that part of the country. The colors in Maine were
spectacular. Your cabin was all you said it would be and more. For myself
and my family thank you for allowing us to share your wonderful home in
Maine. You made our trip and the wedding one I will long remember.
Six of us had a enjoyable escape to relaxing Bethel and Sunday River for a week. Grill and kitchen met all our needs as we enjoyed delicious home cooked meals most of the week. We went out Thursday night and enjoyed prime rib @ the funky red barn followed by open mic @ SUDS. Waking up to coffee and the gas stove made it hard to head out to the slopes. After a long day skiing the hot tub was calling. 4WD/AWD recommended, there's a bit of a hill when coming and going which can be a challenge depending on conditions. With a blizzard expected on our way home we rushed out. We managed to leave a couple things behind and the owner was very responsive in working to get them back to us. Nice house. Helpful and responsive owner. Great Trip!!
We had a lovely girls weekend in this home! Fit about 12-13 people perfectly. The house was amazing, the hot tub was great, and Diane was very accessible.
Two families shared the house for a ski vacation during the Christmas break and found the house immaculate and stocked abundantly with all the necessities. Our families enjoyed the hot tub and the gas fireplace every day of our snowy vacation and the linens and beds provided restful sleep each night!! The kitchen was stocked so well with everything we needed. Diane went above and beyond on more than one occasion pre, during and post vacation to make sure we were well taken care of, thanks Diane for a great week!
We really enjoyed our stay! The cabin was very cozy and had plenty of room for our 4 person family and 2 grandparents. It's nice and secluded (though there are plenty of nearby neighbors) while being close enough to Bethel to get all the essentials if you forget anything. The surroundings are gorgeous and we were right in the middle of it all!
Really wonderful stay at this woodsy retreat
Everything you need. Literally I cannot think of a thing I reached for that was not here. But bring a Bluetooth speaker to rock some tunes it's a cathedral for sound with all the wood interior
Took my family of six (four young children) on a nice vacation and booked this house. You never know what to expect but I went off the reviews and they are accurate. The house is clean and very well kept. The outside is just as maintained with a nice fire-pit and hot-tub. There is plenty of games and different things to occupy the kids at home. Kitchen is well supplied. The beds were nice. House heats up real fast too with the gas fireplace. We didn't spend much time at the house because we were so busy exploring. Great location for driving into NH and up Grafton Notch for hiking. I especially recommend Evan's Notch (Rattlesnake and Emerald Pool). Did this trail with young toddlers, they did great. Had some excellent dinners at local restaurants. Lots of stuff to do, but I need to go back without the kids just to relax! Read the guest books too, there is a lot of good information as to places to see and things to occupy yourself. It's a little bit of a drive to town at least 15-20 minutes but its worth it. No chain stores anywhere, all mom-and-pop businesses, locals mostly, no traffic. Take the kids or just go for peace and quiet. This rental home is worth it.
