Lovely cottage nestled in the side of the mountain
This place was just perfect for our trip. We wanted to be close to Rocky Mountain National Forest (>10 mins to entrance), and downtown Estes Park (>5 mins). This was perfect. Nestled in the side of a hill this property had a great patio with amazing views of the valley. The house is well kept with plenty of extra pillows, blankets and places to cozy up. Owners were quick to answer. Only "negative" was lots of light in the cabin, not good for sleeping in or napping, but great for conserving energy! We had a lovely time and would love to come back.
Took my 88 yo mother away for weekend. Nice property, one level and easy access to park, grocer and center of town.
Estes Park getaway
Hummingbird in the Rockies was the perfect getaway from the Texas heat! Close to town & RMNP, but in a quiet & peaceful neighborhood. Beautiful views of Longs Peak...a doe & her two fawns visiting in the morning...& a nice deck with grill for outdoor meals. The owner & the property manager were both helpful & responsive to emails & texts. We found Hummingbird perfect for one couple, or a couple with children...tho’ the skylight in the second bedroom might be a problem for anyone wanting to sleep late. There’s WiFi but no regular tv (also a welcome part of the getaway aspect!) So we’re now addicted to Netflix!! 😊 Thank you, Carter & Jody, for a great vacation!
Charming Colorado getaway
We loved the cabin feel, the views, and the coziness of this rental! It worked perfectly for us, as we did much hiking on the eastern side of the park. It was nice to be close so we could do things like watch the sunrise at Sprague Lake.
The cabin was roomy for my husband and I and our young adult daughter and teenage son. They loved the bedroom off the kitchen with the skylight and made it their own hangout.
Lovely touches included the bottle of wine and trail mix basket, the maps and books about the Rockies, the games, and the thick,
fluffy bath towels plus extra blankets in each bedroom closet.
A couple of things that we felt could use more attention included...the step between the kitchen and the hallway to the living space where there was a height difference that made tripping easy. Also, although there were many great kitchen tools, the overall provisions could be a little better stocked. For example, we had only one roll of paper towels and three rolls of toilet paper to last four days. I also thought the glassware in the kitchen was pretty skimpy...limited to big plastic tumblers...and a few basic spices...garlic powder, chili powder, season salt, etc. would be a great addition for those of us who really want to eat meals "in."
On the positive side, the washer and dryer were really GREAT and such a bonus! Thank-you!
All in all, we had a wonderful stay and would love to return some day!
Getting in and out of the cabin was difficult due to the uneven ground and steps. Not Senior citizen friendly. The sun came through the curtains in the bedroom very early. Not a winner while on vacation. The main bedroom was very small and to walk around bed not easy. No dresser to store clothing. Rental: Best suited to a younger family.
We enjoyed our stay at hummingbird . The location was great to get to RMNP and the town. The house was equipped with what we needed and comfortable. The neighborhood feels a little hodgepodge with houses sprinkled randomly throughout. A few things could have showed more attention such as the bedroom closet having unfinished drywall with holes and a few other small items that did not negatively impact our stay. Overall the place was solid and as advertised.
