Overview

Cathedral City House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths (Sleeps 6)

One of the most expansive and dramatic views in The Coachella Valley. This home backs up to 15,000 acres of National Monument Land, (not another house in the view between the home and Mt. San Jacinto) and provides a totally pristine, serene, desert retreat experience.

The private residence of a New York advertising executive, a complete renovation of the property was completed in August of 2011. The fixtures, the furnishings, and the amenities were chosen by the owner's architect for her personal use. Now the owner's work/travel schedule has made this a spectacular spot for the demanding vacationer or winter escapee.

Indoor/Outdoor Living at it's best, the 650 ft shaded lanai offers pleasant shelter from the sun during the day and it's recessed lighting and outdoor furniture make this second living/dining room, a spectacular place to watch the sunset over the snow capped mountains.

The Mamounia: master bedroom features doors that let out onto a private garden and an en suite bath whose glass wall shower was designed for two. Queen bed, Calvin Klein Sheets, and Moroccan accents make this a bedroom where dreams do come true.

The Standard: 1st Guest Bedroom with access to pool and mountain view. Queen bed and spacious mirrored closet, this room is also fully equipped with a complete pop-up office-- desk, printer, scanner, fax, phone with free Canadian calling. The guest bath, directly across the hall is a riot of white tile and Palm Springs accents.

The Royalton: 2nd Guest Bedroom/Study. Furnished with DWR day bed and media console this room can become a 2 twin bed, or one king bed bedroom or stay as configured and offer a cool quiet sanctuary for reading, listening to music or streaming your content to the Chrome Cast on this high def flat screen TV. Glass doors open directly on the pool and provide views of the mountains.

Living Room/Dining Room/Kitchen: Forming a spacious open plan for living, these three rooms are furnished with: Moss, Morroso, Ingo Mauer, Sapien, Saarinen, Boerner and many interesting mid-century accent pieces- the all stainless steel kitchen features an Electrolux Professional Stove. There is a gas barbecue just outside the East kitchen door. Samsung 42' Flat Screen mounted above the fireplace.

The Pool: One of the old fashioned egg-shaped pools, it is deep enough (9'.5' at the deep end) to keep it swimmable even in the hottest afternoons. Heated (optional) during the winter it provides just enough length for lap/exercise. There is a 'Dinah Shore Shelf' for partially submerged sunbathing, easy-access steps for entry and an attached spa/hot tub for soothing the muscles after a hike behind the home.

About Susan MacMurchy

I was born and raised in the midwest. Transplanted to New York City and am now excited to make my bi-coastal lifestyle official with this home.

Susan MacMurchy purchased this house in 2010

Why Susan MacMurchy chose Cathedral City

People who have lived in Palm Springs all their lives walk in and scream over the view. From the pool area it's a bit like being on the moon. Yet, it is in a quiet, very friendly neighborhood. The direct neighbors have no dogs and are full time residents. QUIET. I once owned a house that was not and I vowed never to do that again.

What makes this house unique

The view, the view, oh and did I mention... then there's the view from the living room. Lush bougainvillea hedges shelter the home from outside view and block the view of other homes while still allowing a spectacular sunrise, mountain, palm tree postcard experience every morning. The modern entry, zinc fountain is nice to watch and to listen to. Convenient. 5 minutes from everything: Shopping, 16 screen movie theatre, The Dinah Shore Golf Tournament, The two largest consignment shops in The Valley, Palm Springs/Palm Desert.

Beautiful, clean, well maintained house, great location. Loved it!

  • 5 of 5

We had a fabulous 10 day stay at Susan's house. All the space we needed for a family of four, thoughtfully decorated, beautifully curated. Gardens well looked after and very colourful. Pool at the back lovely. Very private location, stunning views. Well placed for accessing all of the cities that make up Palm Springs. Very clean, everything on hand that you need in terms of household essentials - dish soap, kitchen paper, toiletries etc etc

Favourite restaurants were Jake's, Cheeky's, Si Bon, BB's on the river. Great trips up the aerial tramway, to the Joshua Tree, to the outlet stores, zoo at Palm Desert. Loved the Body Deli shop, well worth a visit.

Great time, we will return!

This place was amazing!!!! Beautiful inside and out. My family and I stayed here for my Birthday in October. What a treat. The house is beautiful and comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked and modern. Being a cook I really enjoyed it. The backyard pool and mountain view were very enjoyable. I would recommend this rental to friends and family. Thanks for allowing us to stay. The Stoer Family.

Very clean, modern

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for nearly a week and found the house to be quite relaxing. It is exceptionally clean and well maintained. There were plenty of towels, linens, dishes, and basic toiletries. The appliances were modern and the washer and dryer looked brand new. The neighborhood was incredibly quiet at all hours. It was too hot for us to do any hiking out the back, but you could see plenty of trails through the desert.

The pool is good sized and is deep. Not just the deep end, but the shallow end is deep for a shallow end. It was great for our teenage kids, but maybe not so much for younger kids. The pool and the outdoor furniture was in good shape and comfortable.

There were only 2 slight negatives. One is the at polished concrete floor (which we really liked) did make sound travel readily, which was only an issue for our light sleeper. Also, the beds are quite firm which is obviously a very subjective thing.

The house, landscaping, and furnishings were in excellent condition and I highly recommend it. Susan was easy to work with as well.

Beautiful home, great location!

  • 5 of 5

My fiancé and I stayed at the house with another couple and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The house is off the main stretch in Cathederal City and very close to Palm Springs and surrounding areas. We were in town for a wedding in Palm Desert and with a car, it's a short 15-20 minute drive!

The setting of the house is beautiful. Behind the house are great trails if you'd like to get in a hike, and the pool in the backyard is great for a hot, sunny day! Not to mention, the house has been remodeled and is very clean.

Susan was great to work with- super friendly and accommodating. Prior to arriving we received very clear details for our stay. We would definitely stay at this property again. Perfect for two couples since there are two full bedrooms and two bathrooms. There's also a spare room that functions as an extra bedroom if needed.

Owner's Response: It is always lovely to have such responsive and responsible guests. We were very excited to have two couples who were attending such an exciting wedding celebration and would of course welcome them anytime. Glad you enjoyed the stay.

Beautiful Peaceful Stay

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I arrived for a full week stay in the beginning of February. Prior to arrival, the owner sent a very detailed email with instructions on how to access the home, it was very easy to follow and we appreciated all of the attention to detail. The home is absolutely beautiful and clean. The owner thought of everything to make us comfortable - there were fresh clean towels hanging in all of the bathrooms, shampoo/bath gel, plenty of closet/vanity space for us to set up for the full week and even a binder full of activities for the palm springs area. There is a wonderful pool and jacuzzi in the back with plenty of space to spread out - with floaties in the pool, in the shade or out in the sun on the patio chairs/beds. If you don't feel like cooking in the huge kitchen, there is also a gas and another charcoal grill. Theres also a great view in the backyard, a full view of the mountain desert trails, so you don't feel like you are on top of your neighbors. Overall, a relaxing, quiet and peaceful trip :)
