One of the most expansive and dramatic views in The Coachella Valley. This home backs up to 15,000 acres of National Monument Land, (not another house in the view between the home and Mt. San Jacinto) and provides a totally pristine, serene, desert retreat experience.
The private residence of a New York advertising executive, a complete renovation of the property was completed in August of 2011. The fixtures, the furnishings, and the amenities were chosen by the owner's architect for her personal use. Now the owner's work/travel schedule has made this a spectacular spot for the demanding vacationer or winter escapee.
Indoor/Outdoor Living at it's best, the 650 ft shaded lanai offers pleasant shelter from the sun during the day and it's recessed lighting and outdoor furniture make this second living/dining room, a spectacular place to watch the sunset over the snow capped mountains.
The Mamounia: master bedroom features doors that let out onto a private garden and an en suite bath whose glass wall shower was designed for two. Queen bed, Calvin Klein Sheets, and Moroccan accents make this a bedroom where dreams do come true.
The Standard: 1st Guest Bedroom with access to pool and mountain view. Queen bed and spacious mirrored closet, this room is also fully equipped with a complete pop-up office-- desk, printer, scanner, fax, phone with free Canadian calling. The Royalton: 2nd Guest Bedroom/Study. Glass doors open directly on the pool and provide views of the mountains.
Living Room/Dining Room/Kitchen: Forming a spacious open plan for living, these three rooms are furnished with: Moss, Morroso, Ingo Mauer, Sapien, Saarinen, Boerner and many interesting mid-century accent pieces- the all stainless steel kitchen features an Electrolux Professional Stove. There is a gas barbecue just outside the East kitchen door. Samsung 42' Flat Screen mounted above the fireplace.
The Pool: One of the old fashioned egg-shaped pools, it is deep enough (9'.5' at the deep end) to keep it swimmable even in the hottest afternoons. Heated (optional) during the winter it provides just enough length for lap/exercise. There is a 'Dinah Shore Shelf' for partially submerged sunbathing, easy-access steps for entry and an attached spa/hot tub for soothing the muscles after a hike behind the home.
I was born and raised in the midwest. Transplanted to New York City and am now excited to make my bi-coastal lifestyle official with this home.
Susan MacMurchy purchased this house in 2010
People who have lived in Palm Springs all their lives walk in and scream over the view. From the pool area it's a bit like being on the moon. Yet, it is in a quiet, very friendly neighborhood. The direct neighbors have no dogs and are full time residents. QUIET. I once owned a house that was not and I vowed never to do that again.
The view, the view, oh and did I mention... then there's the view from the living room. Lush bougainvillea hedges shelter the home from outside view and block the view of other homes while still allowing a spectacular sunrise, mountain, palm tree postcard experience every morning. The modern entry, zinc fountain is nice to watch and to listen to. Convenient. 5 minutes from everything: Shopping, 16 screen movie theatre, The Dinah Shore Golf Tournament, The two largest consignment shops in The Valley, Palm Springs/Palm Desert.
This property was exactly what we expected and wanted. The layout was great for a family with nice common areas and patio. The location also was very close to shopping, grocery stores and restaurants. Susan made the entire process easy and enjoyable, with a great welcome packet of information. Highly recommend!
We are so glad we picked this beautiful home in which to relax and connect with family for 3 days. It was perfect. An excellent location just a short, enjoyable drive (5 min) outside the town Palm Springs but still close to everything we needed; Trader Joes, Thai take-out, The Parker Hotel patio, the spa at the Andreas hotel and a quick 20 min drive to the Palm Springs Tram, which we enjoyed at sunset. Peace and comfort is the vibe of this property. Exceptionally well maintained, the house is equipped with everything that guests who like to enjoy the space need, including plenty of fresh pool towels. In fact, the pool was so lovely we had to tear ourselves away to engage in other activities. Our Bichon Frise enjoyed morning and evening walks in the quiet surrounding neighbourhood. Last but not least, the excellent hosts remotely supported our needs in a prompt, helpful and pleasant manner. Thank you!
We had a fabulous 10 day stay at Susan's house. All the space we needed for a family of four, thoughtfully decorated, beautifully curated. Gardens well looked after and very colourful. Pool at the back lovely. Very private location, stunning views. Well placed for accessing all of the cities that make up Palm Springs. Very clean, everything on hand that you need in terms of household essentials - dish soap, kitchen paper, toiletries etc etc
Favourite restaurants were Jake's, Cheeky's, Si Bon, BB's on the river. Great trips up the aerial tramway, to the Joshua Tree, to the outlet stores, zoo at Palm Desert. Loved the Body Deli shop, well worth a visit.
Great time, we will return!
This place was amazing!!!! Beautiful inside and out. My family and I stayed here for my Birthday in October. What a treat. The house is beautiful and comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked and modern. Being a cook I really enjoyed it. The backyard pool and mountain view were very enjoyable. I would recommend this rental to friends and family. Thanks for allowing us to stay. The Stoer Family.
Nice pool and the views are outstanding.
Did the hike outside the back gate up the hill (5.5 miles RT) 1650 foot vert. Great view of the valley.
Plan on going again
N & P
We stayed here for nearly a week and found the house to be quite relaxing. It is exceptionally clean and well maintained. There were plenty of towels, linens, dishes, and basic toiletries. The appliances were modern and the washer and dryer looked brand new. The neighborhood was incredibly quiet at all hours. It was too hot for us to do any hiking out the back, but you could see plenty of trails through the desert.
The pool is good sized and is deep. Not just the deep end, but the shallow end is deep for a shallow end. It was great for our teenage kids, but maybe not so much for younger kids. The pool and the outdoor furniture was in good shape and comfortable.
There were only 2 slight negatives. One is the at polished concrete floor (which we really liked) did make sound travel readily, which was only an issue for our light sleeper. Also, the beds are quite firm which is obviously a very subjective thing.
The house, landscaping, and furnishings were in excellent condition and I highly recommend it. Susan was easy to work with as well.
