Overview

About the property

Spacious, Prime Location, One Floor, All Modern Comfort, Air Conditioning, WiFi,

Located on the first floor of a historical building (formerly a convent), in the Santa Croce section of Florence, near Duomo, Signoria, Ponte Vecchio, and the Verdi Theater. This fabulous property offers elegant living and dining with all the modern amenities. The social area includes a large Dining Room and a Living Room/Bar with high cassettone ceilings and terracotta floors. Both the Master Bedroom (King-size bed) and Bedroom 2 (Queen-size bed) include a private full bathroom. In addition, a queen-size sofa bed in the Living room allows for two (2) more people to be lodged, if needed. The kitchen is fully equipped and it includes a conventional and a microwave oven, as well as a dishwasher. Ideally located in the Centro Historico of Florence, guests need only a 2-minute walk to reach the closest grocery store, or they can walk 8 more minutes and reach one of the greatest markets in the city: Sant’Ambrogio. ATM, pharmacy, coffee shops and more are all within a 5-minute walk. The city's greatest attraction, the cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, is a five minute walk, but you see the beautiful Duomo around the corner from the apartment. The landmark Santa Croce church houses famous Florentine art and the tombs of remarkable Florentines like Dante and Michelangelo. The church is also the focal point of one of the most genuine neighborhoods left in the old center. While the area's western edge abuts the medieval district around Piazza della Signoria -- Via de' Bentaccordi/Via Torta actually traces the outline of the old Roman amphitheater -- much of the district was rebuilt after World War II in long blocks of creamy yellow plaster buildings with residential shops and homes. Few tourists roam off Piazza Santa Croce, so if you want to feel like a city resident, stay here. This neighborhood also boasts some of the best restaurants in the city.

Beautiful place, great location, nicely appointed, evidently caring owners.

  • 5 of 5

Only issues: washer and dryer don’t work, could be more generous with towels, and a bit of an old house smell when we first arrived, but then it’s a Renaissance-era building. Great find!

Perfect spot for exploring Florence

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for 5 nights in the beginning of March.

We were greeted upon arrival and there was a bottle of Proseco in the fridge and coffee on the counter to get us started!

The apartment is in a perfect location. Just a short stroll to Santa Croce or to the Duomo. There is a market around the corner and many restaurants nearby.

This is a spacious apartment. There is a nice size master bedroom with a very comfortable bed. The master bath is nice with a tub with a shower and nice size towels. The second bedroom is just a bit smaller with its own bathroom which is a bit smaller than the master bath with a shower. The living area is quite large and comfortable and there is a large dining table. Well equipped kitchen.

We had a couple small issues upon arrival but were exceedingly pleased with the prompt response by the owner. The issues were resolved immediately.

There are about 16 steps to get up to the apartment. Not a problem for us. Easy access to the building and apartment.

We highly recommend this apartment and would happily stay here again.

Fabulous apartment for our extended visit to Florence!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Florence over 3 weeks, and Loved coming “home” to Casa Balducci after a day of leisurely exploring, visiting our favorite places in town, or taking a day trip by train to a city we’d never been to. The reviews are all accurate: the apartment location is PERFECT. We walked everywhere, including numerous trips to train station (about a 20 min walk). (No problem getting a taxi or driver for those who prefer that.). The apartment is beautifully updated while still retaining some old-world charm. Kitchen exceptionally well-equipped, and stocked with staples when we arrived (including fresh milk, water and prosecco!). Living areas spacious, beds comfortable with good linens; master bath large and comfortable. (Second bathroom small but fine for those who may use it. The little powder room bath is unusual extra and helpful for guests.). Owner and the caretakers Carlos & Lourdes Very Responsive to any issue. The apartment WiFi is Excellent. [In completeness, I will confess there was a hiccup with the cable TV during our visits and we could not access English language news. With the perfect WiFi, and New York Times available on every corner - this wasn’t a big issue for us. Finally, while there was some street noise from partiers on a couple of weekend nights, we consider that entirely normal for in-city apartment housing.] We would have felt really cramped in a hotel room for our long stay - Definitely would stay again at Casa Balducci!

Casa Balducci is spacious, comfortable, and in a great location. In short, it was perfect for us!

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely visit in Florence, in no small part because of Lisa and Carlos and Casa Balducci. They provided everything we needed and were very responsive. The plentiful English Guide Books and the welcoming bottle of Champagne were an extra added bonus!

Live like a local

  • 5 of 5

Casa Balducci was everything we needed for our week's stay in Florence. Spacious living and dining area, complete kitchen and two bedrooms each with separate bath.

Perfect location within walking distance of all the Florence sites and restaurants. Clean, reasonably priced. Would love to return.

The area of Santa Croce is like being in Italy during the Renaissance. Everything is only a short walk from the apartment. This area is safe and an area with a great deal of night life while the apartment itself is nestled in a quiet corner of an old monastery. Everything can be reached in 5 minutes’ walk: museums, churches, markets, grocery stores, restaurants, coffee shops, and you really feel you are in the heart of ancient Florence. This is where you can really experience Florence and life with the Italians.
