We have lots of horses for those who like
riding and of course our Brahman cattle for those who enjoy the cowboy life.
We , 65 and 57 years old , spent four relaxing weeks in the house . It is easy , however, cozy and completely . The location is absolutely quiet and breathtaking with views of the Volcano Vista Valle and the surrounding fields and pastures. One lives in the truest sense of the word surrounded by nature with parrots , toucans , anise , woodpeckers, butterflies and many other animals . For activities , a car is essential. The owner couple is incredibly nice and helpful , you feel like belonging to the family . The beautiful dream went by too quickly .
I am tempted not to leave a review, because I would hate to have this hidden gem spoiled. We spent 12 days in Costa Rica and I only wish that we had spent the majority of our time at this location. We were there for 4 days, 2 Adults and 2 children. After doing all the "touristy" stuff the country had to offer this was the perfect location to end our vacation. It is off the beaten path and in a quiet area, with views of the mountains that cannot be described. The owner, Raphael, was more than welcoming and I like to think we made a true friend in Costa Rica. He went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable and let us use his horses. Taking us through his beautiful pastures and showing us around and then giving us free roam - what an experience. The house is clean and roomy with everything you could need. The ranch foreman, Ali, was always around if we needed anything and entertained our 15 year old son with working on a cattle ranch, so much so that he would like to go back and work next summer. What kind of experiences and life lessons would make a 15 year old city boy want to help out and cut grass for the horses or learn to saddle them up. We could not pay enough for those experiences. We enjoyed our stay so much so that we stayed at the ranch and did not venture out to other tourist excursions. But I understand that everything is within a hour or so drive. We loved this house and what it had to offer. It made us slow down and enjoy each other's company. Sitting on the porch at night, with the cool breezes and endless amount of stars in the skies made us all realize what a beautiful country Costa Rica is. I look forward to returning and having another dinner with our extraordinary friend, Raphael, and learning more about his impressive life. If you don't require a fast paced world this is the perfect retreat. We cannot thank Raphael enough for the time we spent with him, and look forward to another dinner with great food and conversations with him.
Many, many thanks to the wonderful Raphael and Dilia for a fabulous stay on their ranch!
If you like to get away from it all and enjoy a bit of peace and quiet, this is the place for you. This simple ranch cottage, about 10 minute's drive from the closest town (Guayabo) is cosy, clean and safe, with rural views all round. You can chill on the veranda in a hammock and watch birds all day, or you can play rancher by joining in the day's ranch work, or you can go visit all the local volcanic hotspots (hot springs, bubbling mud pools), go zip-lining, visit waterfalls, as you please.
Our hosts, Raphael and Dilia, a cuban-american and columbian-american respectively, were super-friendly and kind, spoke fluent English and were generous with their time. They proudly showed us their ranch and provided great tourist advice. They allowed us to ride their lovely horses as much as we wanted, which was impressive considering our lack of experience. Their ranch was well kept and their livestock the healthiest in the country.
I recommend this venue for anyone who wants to get off the tourist track and do something a little different. I would return in a heartbeat.
