Crystal River House Rental Photos and Description

Pool home on freshwater canal with boat dock space, sleeps 6

Visit Florida's Nature Coast in our quiet and peaceful vacation home. This home is featured on an over-sized corner lot approximately 3/4 acre. The lot is fenced and full of shade trees. We are situated on a freshwater canal approximately 50 yards from Kings Bay and offer a boat-slip and a long 60 ft seawall with mooring whips to accommodate your boat. The home is a two bedroom, one bath home with an additional Queen sleeper sofa. It comfortably accommodates 6 people. Aside from the spacious and open tiled living/dining area, we have an enclosed Florida room, a screened in patio, and a screened lanai with a private pool. We offer cable t.v., wireless internet, and have a dvd and stereo system installed for your use.

Our visitors enjoy the tranquility that our home offers. It is very common to see manatees slowly making their way through our canal along with an occasional dolphin or otter sighting!! There are several species of birds that come to feed in our yard that can be viewed through our comfortable Florida room and back screened patio. This home is located near the end of a quiet cul-de-sac in a residential neighborhood.

We have plenty of room to park your vehicles and boat trailers in the long driveway or in the yard. There is also a covered carport for your vehicle.

We do offer 3 single seater kayaks here at the home at no additional cost to you, along with paddles and life jackets. We have a crabtrap in the back you can use as there are several blue crabs in the canal. There is also a fish cleaning table in the back in front of the boatslip.

The home comes completely stocked with kitchen utensils, cookware, bed linens, towels and washcloths, soap and cleaning materials. There is a full washer/dryer here for your use and we keep you stocked with laundry detergent. All you need to bring are your personal toiletries and food!!

There is a county boat ramp with rest rooms and picnic area about 4 miles down Fort Island Trail. Fort Island Gulf Beach is 6 miles away on Ft. Island trail.

The area is perfect for swimming with the manatees and swimming in nearby springs. 3 Sisters and King spring are within paddling distance.

Please feel free to ask us any additional questions you may have regarding our home or the area. We do offer military and police discounts. Our home is open all year long for rental. Thank you and we hope to hear from you!

An overall very nice vacation spot

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at this home and it met our expectations. It's and older Florida home, so it had its share of quirks, but the location and setting is great.

Pros: Location on the canal and short paddle to the springs. Manatees were everywhere! Nice large lot. Lots of usable outdoor spaces with the pool, screen rooms, and yard. Kayaks available for use (canoe has a leak and unusable). Quiet neighborhood. Wifi, cable TV, games, laundry, well stocked kitchen. Cute town nearby.

Cons: Older interior. Lacking in power outlets? Was clean, but still had a funky "old Florida" smell (not bad, but my wife still cleaned heavily once we got in). Had our personal kayak paddles stolen from the canal side yard.

Very Peaceful & Relaxing

  • 4 of 5

Everything you need in a vacation rental, on the water-pool-fenced yard for our Irish Setter. Saw 2 manatees the first day & caught large mouth & small mouth bass in the canal. Would rent again for sure. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was I enjoy a gas grill over charcoal & cleaning fee was excessive.

Home from Home, great location.

  • 5 of 5

Wow, is the best word to start this review with. We spent one week here in early August. The villa was great, homely, very clean, everything you need is there. The location, just off King's Bay was amazing. Owner’s communication was excellent and attentive. We used the kayaks every day, less than 30 minutes slow paddle to the Three Sisters Spring. We saw and swam with Manatee. An amazing holiday, didn't want to leave. Thank you so much Cherie for a wonderful time.

One of our best vacations in a long time!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time visiting this area and we had a fabulous time! Also our first time using VRBO and we're definitely spoiled after working with Cherie. She's terrific to work with, very responsive, and made everything simple. The house is just as pictured and described. We were there in March and knew nothing about kayaking, manatees, hot springs...but we learned quickly how to enjoy the water, the nearby springs, and especially the manatees. We canoed to Three Sisters (no manatees) and realized the next day that manatees were much closer. We just canoed/kayaked out to the bay and they were all around us. And we got a great picture of two manatees swimming in the canal behind the house. In addition to the kayaks and canoe, my granddaughter used the pool everyday. Like others, we took a day to drive down to Clearwater to visit the aquarium and enjoyed meeting Winter and Hope, the dolphin movie stars. My 30-year-old daughter said it was one of the best vacations in a long time and she doesn't give those compliments often. I can't think of anything I would change about the house, Cherie has it well stocked and we basically just bought groceries. Thanks for everything and for sharing your house!

Exactly what we needed!

  • 5 of 5

We spent 8 nights in this home in January 2015. It was exactly what we were looking for -- affordable, on the water, clean, and a great owner to deal with. This home is not fancy - but it is exactly as listed, very clean and has enough of what you need. The canoe and kayaks are a huge bonus. I wish the pool could be heated at an extra cost but I knew that was an option and picked this anyway. We traveled with two younger kids and had a ball - they loved checking the crab trap every morning and we all enjoyed the birds that visited the yard each day. We were close enough to kayak to 3 Sisters Spring and have amazing manatee experiences. For me, having a natural, peaceful setting in Crystal River is so worth the drive into Tampa if you want to do more tourist type things. We drove in one day for Busch Gardens and one day to visit Clearwater Aquarium. The rest of the time we fully enjoyed Crystal River and Old Homosassa. Check out The Freezer Tiki Bar for amazing steamed shrimp. Hope to be back next year! Please always keep the kayaks for renters - it is the perfect touch for this home!

Manatees and dolphins in the summer!

  • 5 of 5

We just left the home and we are sad to go! The home was the perfect size for our family and the kitchen was incredibly well stocked. The beds and sheets were excellent but the very best was the location and view! We kayaked and canoed every day in the provided equipment ( and we normally are not the out doors type) but we were drawn outdoors! We swam with 5 manatees in Kings Bay and fished from the back yard. The kids loved the pool, and us parents loved the tranquil setting to just be together as a family. Our last morning at breakfast we saw a big splash in the back yard and a dolphin had come to see us! He was curious and poked his head up to check us out over about 5 minutes. I can not say enough about how wonderful this property was- the house, location, and environment. We will be back!
