We spent four nights at this house and it was great. Flor met us at the house at noon after we flew overnight so we could settle into the house and gave us a detailed run-down on all the amenities. The house was perfect for two couples playing a little golf in the area. The bedrooms were very comfortable and the kitchen well appointed. Our favorite aspect of the house was the outdoor seating area, where we enjoyed the incredible view of Skellig Bay. It didn't hurt that the weather was absolutely fabulous when we were there and we sat outside with our adult beverages every afternoon.
The town of Waterville was a short walk down the road, which has some very nice pubs/restaurants and two markets with most everything you need. The road is a bit narrow in spots to walk, but most of the local drivers know that there are pedestrians on the road. The house has several reflective vests that you can wear if you are walking back from town after dark (much appreciated).
Skellig Bay Golf Course is a 2 minute walk away. Unfortunately, the course will be closed for the next year to undergo renovation (very cool course).
Waterville Links is a 15 minute drive away and is a splendid place to play.
The Ring of Kerry is an absolutely stunning drive and this house gives you easy access to some amazing spots.
I would highly recommend staying at this house if you are visiting the Waterville area. The reservation and payment was easy as was check in/check out.
We spent one marvelous week in this wonderful house with 4 Kids and 3 adults in August 2014. After a kind welcome from Flor we promptly felt like home. The house has everything you need. The kids were happy about the DVDs and we enjoyed the gorgeous view out of the window... We even used Flor´s fishing rod unfortunately without success but it was fun for the Kids though. Most of the time we went to the beautiful beaches around Waterville. One day we made a trip to Valentia Island which we can really recommend. We often went to Waterville´s "Beach Cove Cafe" where they have deliciouse food for take away. In Waterville´s Supermarkets we got everything we needed there was not need to go somewhere else.
We enjoyed ourselves very much in this quiet and tidy house and hope to come back one day! Thanks to June & Flor!
We spent a very nice week with our 3 children in July. The house is spacious and well equiped. The place is very quiet with a great view of the bay. Flor welcomed us very kindly and gave us lots of good advices about the area. We definitively recommend this house.
We spent 5 marvellous days in this house in july 2011. We were two families with children and had such a great time ! We immediately felt very well in this friendly house. The bedrooms are very comfortable. The garden has a large table to eat outside. The house has absolutly everything to enjoy hollydays : there were 3 bicycles, so we ride along the sea and near the lake on small roads with wonderfull view ; we found also the necessary to fish (we catched a truit in the lake !) ; the view is really beautifull. Nice beaches are really not fare (especially derrynane, which is wonderbar), Portmagee and its pub ...And the contacts with the owner was very nice...We slept in 10 different places during this summer, and adults as well as children class this house first !
After a couple of days in the bustle of Dublin, this house was like a breath of fresh air. My husband & I, along with my parents, thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely house with its tranquil setting. It has a great layout, is spacious and extremely clean. I especially liked leaning out of the upper floor's skylights/windows admiring the view. We moved right in and immediately felt at home. Flor gave us the lay of the land and recommended several spots to start exploring. The literature left in the house was especially helpful to newcomers to the area.
The view of Ballinskellings Bay was all we could have asked for and the closeness to the village was very convenient. Star-gazing in the evenings was phenomenal too. It's the perfect home base for a stay in Ireland's south west.
My family stayed at this property in August for a combination of just get away from it all and a bit of golfing for me. We had five adults and two young children and there was ample room. Everything we needed was available. The owner met us at Cork airport with the keys and lots of useful tips.
A little dog from the adjacent house used to pop round for a visit which was very nice.
A great little walk each morning was across the Waterville House practice area. My five year old likes hitting a ball and no one ever complained when we hit a few on the way across. then we went down to the beach. We then eat berries on the way back.
Its a two minute walk into waterville with some nice pubs and a few do a cracking seafood chowder.
Some of the little bays are great for kids to potter around in, in fact there are probably to many to visit.
The golf, played Tralee, stunning course, waterville a tough test of golf but unfortunately on the back nine the heavens opended. Favourite, Ballybunion old broke a ton off the white tees, some tee shots its hard to keep your eye on the ball, the views are simply breathtaking. Cashen is a great course, as is Dukes. Remember when planning the drives between your base and varied courses plan for a longish drive as the roads are narrow and windy in places.
All in all this was a great value holiday home well sited and well equiped for all that Kerry has to offer.
Would come back again.
