History of the Guest House: Kirk Beatley is a fourth generation Washingtonian whose family has lived on Capitol Hill since the late 1800s, and where he continues to live today with his wife and two children. In 1905, Kirk's Great-Grandmother, Margaret, purchased this1890 Victorian home to entice her newly married daughter, Nell, to raise her own family in the neighborhood. Nell and her husband, John Luskey, raised their 12 children in this home.

In 2008 Kirk purchased the house from relatives who had owned or lived in the house since 1905, and then Kirk and his family spent over two years meticulously restoring and renovating the home, blending old-world Victorian charm and grace with new world appliances and technology.

Today, Kirk's family, a fifth generation of Washingtonians, are honored to offer you the opportunity of experiencing residential living in their newly updated family's house, in the heart of our Nation's Capitol, at the Historic Eastern Market on Capitol Hill!

Great location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here during our spring break trip with our children. The location is perfect. We were one block from the Metro station. We also were one block from a capital bike station too. We rented the bikes during most of our trip and it was a quick ride to the Capital and the rest of the mall. We shopped at the Eastern Market for food which was fun and very good. We look forward to staying here again.

Spotless, beautifully furnished, steps from the Metro and a fabulous neighborhood to explore. It was exactly as billed! Kirk was so professional and helpful! I'd stay here again in a heartbeat!

Excellent location, clean and comfortable.

We had a wonderful stay. The location was perfect, we could walk everywhere and felt as though it was a safe area.

We would recommend Eastern Market Suites to others, and would stay there again on a return trip to D.C.

Well- equipped, well- maintained, well- situated

  • 5 of 5

This is a great option for anyone looking to spend a few days in Washington. The apartment is immaculate, nicely decorated and furnished and has everything you could need for your stay. A short walk from the metro, but also within walking distance of a number of the museums. At the weekend, Eastern Market is bustling with a flea market and lots of other stalls. Around the corner, we found a huge selection of restaurants, diners and bars. Although it is so conveniently located, the area was quiet at night. Kirk sent an email with links to useful websites for visitors and responded promptly to our one email enquiry. We would definitely return if we are back in the city.

Fantastic location, well-appointed, charming!

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying here. The location is hard to beat--metro and busses are 0.5 block away, many restaurants and shops are around the corner. The apartment was perfect for our family of four. We stayed in and cooked a couple nights and the kitchen has all you need plus well-functioning high-end appliances. Kirk was a delight to work with, making everything easy...thank you, Kirk!
