Lonely Planet says ' la finca caribe personifies Vieques'. We think that it's about staying casual and loving this island for its climate, culture, and amazing natural beauty. The beaches are the best just about anywhere.
Our towels don't match. The rooms have no television. La finca caribe is for people who like to go barefoot and take showers outdoors. We like it simple. All of our rooms have fans, mosquito nets, cotton sheets and a good reading lamp.
La finca caribe is a cluster of handmade wooden houses -- on two of the most beautiful, natural, quiet and private acres on Vieques island. We're up in the hills; our world class beaches are three miles away -- so we are the place to totally get away from it all. No a/c. No phones. Wi-fi is available. But the salt water pool, the breezes, views and mangoes, starfruit, cocos and bananas work great. The coolest place on the coolest island -- with the coolest folks!
La finca's six bedroom Casa Grande is great for all sorts of groups -- from six folks in our six rooms, to filling the place with a family reunion, educational group or yoga retreat -- with up to 20, using every bed and loft. La finca offers a variety of private places and plenty of space so you can find your quiet hammock regardless. In addition la finca has two family-sized houses available and two smaller casitas for one or two. You can see all choices on our website. Search 'la finca vieques' for all choices and availability.
Our rustic property is high in the hills of Vieques, offering views and trade winds where you can spend the day swimming in the chemical-free saline pool, or chillin' in one of dozens of hammocks. Come relax and get back to nature - listen to tropical tree frogs, watch shooting stars against black skies, and relax as palms softly rustle overhead.
Our on-site managers are happy to help you with local information and contacts for outdoor adventures, car rentals, nearby restaurants and island attractions. For more information about your group's size and needs -- just ask , or check out our site & discover why our guests come back year after year!
When we aren't running the finca in the winter months, we are small farmers in Washington State; an architect & a sustainability professional. We believe in simple living at home and while traveling. We are always happiest outside -- hiking, sailing, gardening, -- at the finca that can include dancing on the deck after a large group dinner with friends.
The finca is family-owned and operated. In that regard it's really more like our home, our finca we like to share with like minded travelers. We've been lucky enough to have traveled throughout out our lives. We know what we look for, and what we avoid. The finca is built on that: providing a beautiful quiet and natural setting , with good clean, cotton sheets, a good reading light, and as few chemicals or electronics as possible.
When we aren't here, friends help run the place -- and all of us are committed to providing the best 'eco-travel' location on Vieques for you and your family, children, and friends vacation.
Simply put, we love to share our finca and our island's undeveloped and beautiful setting.
We look forward to having you with us!

We have traveled much of the world and never experienced beaches like Vieques has to offer. Once we saw the finca we knew it was our dream literally come true. You'll understand as soon as you get here. Think quiet, slow, beautiful, rustic and natural; an all too rare combination.
if you like to start your day with a run or a good walk -- go for it. We are up in the hills on a small country road with little traffic. A run or walk in either direction is great. You can get to know the 125 species of birds on the island, or one of Vieques's wild horses. At the end of the day, after the beach or exploring the island, you can wash off in the outdoor solar showers, and find a quiet hammock with a book, or meet fellow eco-minded travelers from around the globe.
I am an educator who has traveled the world with student groups and my stay at La Finca Caribe was one of the most amazing yet. From the minute I made contact with Scott, the property manager, I was made to feel like a valued guest...which is not always the case when you travel with 18 teenagers! Scott was the "Yes" man; he was beyond helpful with info regarding tours, transportation, and activities on the island. Things only got better from there: meeting Bill, our other charming host; the pure joy you feel when you arrive at the beautiful, intoxicating surroundings that are La Finca; the sounds and sights of the Caribbean jungle; the magic of the breeze on the open porch of Casa Grande amidst the twinkling lights at night...There were so many highlights of our stay at La Finca including the fully equipped, huge kitchen, the outdoor showers, as well as the salt water pool. There were so many places we could be that we never felt crowded or cramped, even in a group of 20. Best of all, though, was the impeccable attention to detail that our hosts, Scott and Bill, contributed that made our stay especially awesome. They were never too busy to answer the zillion questions the students had; they took us to the Sugar Mill and helped the kids catch tarantulas and open coconuts! The smaller houses on the property were also gorgeous and I can't wait to return with my family sometime soon. I also really appreciated the emphasis on green travel that La Finca supports! Thanks Scott & Bill for doing everything in your power to make our stay the best!
My stay at La Finca was the highlight of my Puerto Rico vacation. The staff was kind and helpful, not to mention generous. Our room was paradise. Mangos fell outside our door, we ate starfruit off of the trees, used the free snorkeling gear, and checked out the recommended local eateries. La Finca is beautiful, and I can't wait to go back!
Very mellow, relaxing sweet spot. Could easily stay here and not leave the compound. At the many, many beaches the snorkeling in the clear, warm water was absolutely great. Want to do it again!
La Finca Caribe is rustic and on the funky side, which is exactly what we wanted! That said, we had everything we needed and it was clean and well kept. The hosts were exceptionally accommodating to our group's needs, and helped with every detail regarding transportation, meals, logistics and relaxing. The lodge is well-situated with a gorgeous view of the sea and surrounding area. It is easy to reach and convenient to towns, beaches and sight seeing opportunities. We were welcomed and made to feel right at home, it was easy to do our work and to have fun, have group time and individual time. I hope to come back with my family in the near future.
The back porch has beautiful view of the ocean and rainbows often. This was the great place we stayed on Vieques, Puerto Rico. The innkeepers are welcoming, and the space are rustic with a relaxing salt water pool! So nice to swim in clean water without chlorine.
