We call our wonderful vacation home, 'Serenity', because all your stress and worries will disappear when you're here!

This beautifully renovated, 120 year-old former mill sits just feet away from a lovely brook on a 7-acre, heavily wooded lot just off of Route 4 in Litchfield county, CT. In the summer, open the windows and you can hear the water flowing by from every room in the house. You'll love falling asleep to the sound!

In the winter months, you'll love being surrounded by a wintry wonderland as you are warmed by the cozy fireplace.

We know once you've experienced 'Serenity', you'll never want to leave!

There's lots of room to explore on the property.

Splash around in the brook, watch for trout, or just sit and gaze at the waterfall. We're very close to the Audubon preserve, so you never know what rare birds you might see (there's a Blue Heron that loves to stalk the brook trout right next to the house).

Like looking at nature but don't want to be out in it? You'll love the screened in patio with large sliding glass doors on three sides.

Feel like relaxing with a good movie? You'll enjoy the flat-screen TV and 24 hr. On-Demand movies through Comcast. Classic movie buffs will enjoy our Alfred Hitchcock movie library. Alfred Hitchcock was a good friend of a previous owner and often vacationed at the house! Of course, you'll never find a better spot for curling up with a good book.

Check out all the dining, shopping, and other activities available in beautiful Litchfield County, then come home and relax with a bubble bath in the huge clawfoot tub.

There's a fully-stocked kitchen with everything you need for whipping up a great meal and a nice big gas grill for those summer cookouts.

Winter sports fans will enjoy the nearby Mohawk Ski Resort.

Prime fall foliage country on designated 'Scenic Route'.

Minutes away from the Sharon Audubon Center and Wildlife Sanctuary, Mohawk Mountain Ski Resort, Housatonic State Forest and Housatonic Meadows State Park, Kent Falls State Park, Appalachian Trail, and Historic Cornwall Covered Bridge.

Many nearby cultural activities, including the TriArts Playhouse.

Several nearby lakes with public beaches.

Countless summer and fall concerts and festivals.

Close to fine dining and world-class antique shopping.

10 minute drive to Wassiac Train Station (90 minute train to Grand Central Station and Broadway shows).

Cozy even in negative degree weather!

  • 5 of 5

We had the most wonderful stay here over New Years! Our group of friends hiked, sledded, cooked, and played music. The windows were big and we watched the snow fall from the comfort of the heated house. It was SO cozy and warm and the fire was nice to play games around. You could even hear the running brook from the downstairs bedroom which was so peaceful. My dog was even able to join us! Thank you for sharing your home with us! We would love to come back someday.

Lovely area. Close enough to everything we needed, the fishing we wanted to do, hiking, peaceful !

Slept like we have never before, the running stream was a delight, the dense trees. Would definitely want to return. We were there for six weeks and could stay longer. Everything was available we needed.

Was surprised to find such a busy road close by, scenic but well travelled on week ends by motorcycles. It did not spoil our visit.

The owners are very responsive and available.

Great house for a small group.

  • 5 of 5

We had 6 adults, a toddler, and a dog.The house itself is one of those classic colonial homes that has had many small additions over the years, which is pretty interesting. There was ample space for everyone, and the bedrooms are spread out in a way so you have plenty of privacy should you need it. It's very nice waking up to the sounds of the brook each morning. Just note that the sunroom isn't usable in the winter (which we anticipated), but I bet in the summer it's wonderful. The towns nearby are incredibly nice, and the nearby state park is beautiful as well! We loved our stay!

Relaxing, away, and exactly what the doctor krdered

My stay at Serenity was nice. I read the reviews and New about the long path. It was appropriately lit and the path was cleared of snow. Because we stayed in the world yet, the nice three season porch was too cold to use. It is important to note that it is right on the main road and the person that lives on the property IS viewable from the main house - you share a garage with him. Although, he was no bother, but if your hoping to NOT run into anyone or see anyone, that will most likely not happen. The owners were responsive - we had the wifi go down and they responded immediately which was great. There were no curtains in the bedrooms and three season porch which was weird - I would recommend them for at least the upstairs bedroom as the lights from the road at night light up the whole room. There was only one role of paper towels and two smaller rolls of toilet paper - so we had to get those items (really not a big deal.). I have stayed at a few VRBO properties now and I would stay here again. The place has huge character, old crooked floors, fireplace it was very cozy. If your looking for more things like a dishwasher or cell signal, probably not for you. But if your looking for a place that's away, with a cool stream/brook running through this is your spot.

Cozy Getaway

This was a nice, cozy getaway for Thanksgiving. The home is older but updated with many modern touches. Its a nice place to stay when you need to get away from city life.

Warm, cozy and a beautiful location!

  • 5 of 5

My mom, friend and I enjoyed a girls trip mid-October and it was the best trip I have ever been on! Staying in your beautiful home added to the small town, charming experience! It is in a wonderful location, not far from other towns but just far enough that you feel like you're in your own little world. We felt very safe, cozy and really enjoyed our stay! We would definitely stay here again!
