Our family has been a part of the Myrtle Beach story from it's beginning, literally! Our Great Grandfather, Robert White, designed and eventually owned the Grand Strand's first golf course, Pine Lakes Country Club back in 1927. He was born in St. Andrews, Scotland in 1874, and emigrated to the United States in 1894, and was the first President of the PGA of America from 1916 to 1919. Our grandmother bought this beach house in the 60's, it was moved to it's present location in 1981, and we built today's home within the original footprint in 2005.
The Owner purchased this house in 2005
This home is beautiful. It is really family friendly; and also well suited for a large group. It seemed that each of the 6 bedrooms had privacy with a bathroom attached. Our group ranged from 60 to 3 years; and the location worked for all. We had one with a walker, so the elevator was a god send-- and is really convenient when packing in groceries and luggage. The pool was great for the kids and parents alike, and the beach is lovely. It is great to sit at the table, or in the family room, or on one of the decks and see the ocean. We even watched fireworks with dinner one night. I almost regret telling how lovely this place is; it may make it more difficult to rent the next time.
We had a great family vacation. The house was ideal for us as the availability of the elevator allowed us grandparents to go down to the pool and beach and back up again without climbing two long flights of stairs each way. Thus, we took the top floor, and the kids took the lower floor bedrooms. I was pleasantly surprised at how quiet it was upstairs. Despite the open floor plan, we could barely hear the kids when they were downstairs. There are two kid gates for the exterior stairwells, and we could have used another for the interior stairs, but luckily, our toddler is just at the stage where he can navigate the stairs pretty well. The grandkids loved the beach, as well as the pool, and the kiddie pool attached was a godsend for the toddlers. The beach is beautiful, with clean sand, and a great distance of shallow water for the kids to play in the waves. The kitchen was very well equipped, as stated by other reviewers, except the extra ice maker was not working, and the one in the fridge took quite a while to make ice, leaked and froze up. However, we reported it to Dune Realty when we left, and hopefully, that will be fixed for the next renters. The "sandbox" was really unusable, as it is really just a trough under the house where you park, and it gets full of debris with the rain and wind, but of course, there is an infinite amount of sand just over the walkway to the ocean, so we really didn't miss having one with the house. We definitely hope to return.
My family bid a sad farewell to this lovely beach house this morning. We had a fantastic week….perfect weather, lots of beach time, and game time at night. We've been getting together at the beach for more than 50 years, and I can't remember a better time. The house had everything we needed and more. It's a wonderful place to stay; a great place for togetherness and plenty of room for quiet solitude. We hope to return next year, so I'll be in touch.
Our golfing group has very much enjoyed this fine beachfront residence 2 years in a row. Booking was easily facilitated and Scott was prompt in his replies and attention to detail. This home enjoys privacy from both neighbours and also "within". Our group consisted of 6 professional males who needed some space, separate sleeping quarters, and a central meeting space for meals/sports/comraderie. The kitchen in this stately beachfront home is very well equipped with no shortage of dishware, cooking utensils/pots/pans, 2 dishwashers, generous fridge, and room for plenty at the dining room table. The beachfront views are spectacular and the location ideal for those looking to golf some of the fine venues in the vicinity. Large screen TV was super for enjoying sports. A couple of minor issues to be aware of....be mindful of the odd protocol necessitating picking up your own bedding/sheets/towels etc at the check-in desk 2km from the home while enroute to your holiday destination. Kind of a pain in the butt to make up your own room before sleeping in it, but I gather all homes administered by the "Dunes" are in the same boat. As well, personal items are in short supply (soap, toilet paper, etc) Paper towels were absent for the kitchen; Bring your own shampoo as well. That notwithstanding, we plan to be Scott's guests again in the future and recommend this vacation home!
We LOVE this house! We come every year and get PEACE AND REST! Thank you Scott! He is the best! Will always responded quickly to request you have! If you stay you will always want to come back! The pictures are exactly the way the house looks! The best house to rent on the beach. The elevator makes everything convenient to for everyone.
In all the years we have enjoyed family week at the beach, we have never experienced a home that has it all and far more. This home is truly something else! The photos do not lie! Scott, the owner, is terrific at responding quickly to questions or requests. My husband and I along with our two sons and their families (6 grandchildren six years and under) stayed in this beautiful beach home this October. There were plenty of bedrooms and beds for everyone, and the young lady who helped with the children even had her own room. The kitchen is fantastic and designed for a large group. Several people can easily be working in the kitchen at the same time. Plenty of seating for all to share a meal. From experience, we have learned that having two living areas is ideal for our family. This house provides that, with one on both levels. Because the house has so much to offer, we only went out a few times. The pools, the huge sandbox with swing, the large decks, the great private backyard, and the beach just steps away caused us to stay and enjoy this home rather than leave it. Having an elevator to use for hauling our gear into and out of the house and for groceries was an added bonus. We were just a couple of blocks from the marina and restaurant and enjoyed Sunday brunch, which is wonderful, with our entire group, and my husband and I had a quiet dinner there one evening. Our server was one of the best we have ever experienced! Treat yourself and stay in this gorgeous home.
