Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a great time exploring Arcata, this house was perfect for our family. If you're a disc golfer, I would highly recommend playing the redwood curtain, beautiful place. Thank you very much for letting us stay at your house.

Quiet and comfy indeed

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed here in for a long weekend in August while attending a family gathering in nearby McKinleyville. The house comfortably accommodated three couples and two grandchildren. We were minutes from downtown Arcata (We always like the farmers market on Saturday morning in the square). The house was very neat, clean, comfortable and quiet. The owners, Jean Ann and Chuck, were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. We look forward to staying in this guesthouse again when in Humboldt county. I have a disability and was very comfortable in the downstairs bedroom.

Just ok...

Clean and comfortable place, owners helpful and friendly via email.

Price reasonable for 3 bedroom 2 bath.

New washer and dryer, kitchen and appliances were nice.

Picked delicious blackberries in back yard.

Plenty of parking.

Cons: not the greatest neighborhood. Adjacent to a mobile home park. Out of the way.

Older home with tenant over garage. Tenant was friendly.

Downstairs bed was old and sagged in middle. Linens and bedroom furniture need an upgrade.

Living room very small.

Bathrooms were clean but could use some updates.

Owner's Response: Thank you. We provide a clean, quiet and comfortable guest house attested by many reviews. Our return guests are always grateful for a fair price in a modest neighborhood. The house was built ten years ago. We are fortunate to have a sweet and quiet tenant in the studio apartment above the garage. Thanks also for alerting us to the bed. We will purchase another one with new linens.

Welcoming, cozy rental!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our time here, and found the house very welcoming. It was comfortable, clean, and accommodating. The location is excellent for enjoying Arcata, and all it has to offer, but is also tucked away in a quiet neighborhood where you can escape street noise. We were lucky to awaken each morning to birds singing in the trees around the neighborhood. The house easily accommodated up to 6 people at a time for us, and the kitchen is large enough to prepare family dinners in. Thanks Jean and Chuck. Hope to visit again.

Very convenient location, clean home, had everything we needed.

  • 5 of 5

The owners accommodated us very last minute, and the home was clean and had everything we needed. Very enjoyable stay. It was nice to be able to have my dog along, too. No fenced yard, but there was a field nearby to throw her ball so she was happy. We'll definitely be back!

Charming, quiet neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

First off, Jean & Chuck are very quick to responded to emails. They accommodated to our needs. The house was perfect for our family of 3 plus my brother in law. I would recommend this house to anyone and would consider returning ourselves. Close to town and a market is just down the street.

Perfect HQ for Arcata stay

  • 5 of 5

We were delighted to again be able to stay at this roomy, friendly house. It's just off a main road but insulated from road and other noise, so it's very quiet. On this trip, my daughter and her husband and their 10 year old daughter stayed along with me. The 3 BRs with queen beds provided plenty of room; there is an additional futon in a den on the first floor. I had time to do some work while there, on my laptop, and found the WiFi to be very satisfactory, unlike some rentals. I went running every morning (early); it's easy to find good routes for running within walking distance. Also within walking distance is a well - stocked grocery store. We enjoyed a hike through the Community Forest, a trip to the beach, walking around down town, and visiting with family who live in Arcata. The Heaney's rental home proved to be a fine base and was nice to return to at the end of the day. Will definitely stay here again.
