4 bedroom 3.5 Bath Convenient to McCormick and the city
About Lori Wyatt
Derek grew up in DC, and I grew up in the suburbs of Detroit. Derek graduated and came to Chicago for a job. I came to go to Columbia for music. I still play guitar and sing, although not as often. Live music is my thing, so if you are looking to see some bands while you are here, just ask. We love meeting new people, and really enjoy travelling ourselves. I raised 6 kids in Bronzeville and loved that we had access to all of these cultural activities of the city.
Lori Wyatt purchased this Townhome in 2016
Why Lori Wyatt chose Douglas
We love Bronzeville. It is such a hot area right now, it's growing like crazy. I lived here previously and loved it. It was so close to the city, and yet you get so much space. Also, the homes are beautiful vintage homes with all the amazing vintage details I love.
What makes this Townhome unique
I love the open ceilings in the basement, and the volume ceilings. I also like the back deck, and how it is so quiet but you are so close to the city and so many attractions. There are so many great places to eat just five minutes away. I love the hardwood floors, and of course the jacuzzi tub in the master bath is nice after a long day of walking in the city.

When looking for a place to stay when not familiar with the town can be nerve racking. I read all the reviews and this place seemed ok, but not all the reviews were promising. The place it self was “lived in” like most homes some repairs could be made here or there but for the price, size and location of this property we were extremely satisfied and would recommend to friends! We are a mixed group- Caucasian, Mexican, children and adults. We walked to and from the green line day and night and felt very comfortable. I enjoyed the neighborhood, the neighbors and community were friendly and kind. We walked to the white Sox game and fully enjoyed downtown Chicago! Thank you for a Great place to stay in such a fun town!!
Enjoyed our stay but there could be some improvements
The location of this property was the biggest plus for our group as we were attending a graduation at the U of Chicago just a few miles away. We were able to uber/lyft to the school with ease which was needed due to very limited parking at the graduation. We were disappointed that the owner never replied to a text we sent that there was no tv service, even local channels, for the only tv in the house and this was never resolved during our stay. We found the property to be charming and spacious but it could use a deep cleaning. There was some grime on the kitchen cabinets, dirty baseboards, a bit of mold in the basement bathtub where the tile meets the tub and dust throughout the house. The bedding worked great for our group, we were 3 couples and all of the upstairs beds were comfortable. There is a wonderful grocery store about a mile away named Mariano's which was a real plus. When we received the door code for check in, they forgot to include that we needed to push the star symbol after the code so it took us a little time to figure out how to get the door to open upon arrival.
My family was disappointed. Not quite as advertised
Was not available for several hours after stated access time. Unfortunately reeked of pot.
What a great trip
Great little townhouse. My friends and I stayed here for a couple of nights, and loved it. The house was incredibly clean and well cared for. The owners were easy to contact and helpful about the neighborhood. It was very reasonably priced and close to the heart of the city.
Jack and his friends were great guests. Left everything in order. Super respectful of everything. Would love to have them again anytime.
Would NEVER stay here
The pictures make this place look better and are very deceiving. The neighborhood is not safe. The neighbor next door was doing drugs. The floors were not clean. We called every number provided by the owner and no one would call us back. Sent two emails and no one would respond. The kitchen floor felt like it was going to cave in. One of the owners was there at our arrival fixing the master bathroom with silicone and the smell was awful. I did receive a phone call the day before we left letting us know that there was an issue with the bathroom but that it had been fixed not sure if that was true or not. We are from Memphis and I would compare this to a neighborhood from there that I would never even walk in much less stay the night. The owners were not helpful at all. I had to get VRBO involved for them to even respond to my email.
Nice Property but Needs Attention
Our group stayed in this VRBO to run the Chicago Marathon. The home has good bones but sorely needs maintenance. There was no toaster or kettle and almost no cutlery when we arrived. Fortunately, Lori was able to get these items to us the next day. The kitchen floor sags when you walk on it. The shower in the master bedroom seems to have been installed incorrectly and leaks into the dining room below. We put a pot on the floor to catch the drips. The overall cleanliness was below what we normally expect in VRBO's.
The location was very good with transit, groceries and restaurants within easy walking distance. Being white Canadians in a black neighborhood was a new and positive experience for us. The local people we met went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Everyone was very friendly and helpful.
Thanks so much for the feedback. I do apologize for the shower. We had it fixed the week before but evidently that didn't work. We did send plumbers over right away to look at it. We are replacing the basin this week. The soft spot on the kitchen floor is caused by the air vents, this has been this way for years as it was retrofitted. We've been renting properties for years, this craziest things go missing, like tea kettles. Thank you for letting us know so we could get what you needed over to you. I do appreciate you talking about the neighborhood, we lived there for years and love it, this is where most of our properties are. I'm glad you enjoyed Chicago and I wish you guys all the best.
