Overview

About the property

4 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, sleeps 6 adults & 2 children

In a prime location on Mount Desert Island Maine, this property has been lovingly cared for and enjoyed by the same family for four generations. The Cottage was designed and built in 2003-2004 by our father, Caleb, to take full advantage of this ideal spot which has direct access to the water, dock, mooring and gorgeous views of the harbor.

Near the end of a private road on Connor Point, you will feel the peacefulness of a true get-away. Steps away from hiking in Acadia National Park, and yet you are only a 5 minute drive from the charming downtown of Southwest Harbor and 25 minutes from bustling and fun town of Bar Harbor. Feel life slow down as you enjoy your morning coffee on the large deck overlooking the ocean and decide whether you will hike, sail, swim, kayak or shop. Great place for kids with large grassy area, beach combing, and many kid-friendly activities. Ideal for up to 6 adults and 2 children.

Accommodations: Our cottage features clean, open and bright rooms overlooking the ocean, a fully equipped kitchen and all of the modern amenities to enhance your stay. All the modern amenities: washer, dryer, dishwasher, gas stove, microwave, satellite TV, DVD, high speed internet (wifi), and heat. Great for boaters with both dock and mooring access.

Nearby Activities: Walk just a few minutes to hiking trails, or drive (or take a free bus) around Mt. Dessert Island where you can stop to hike up mountains, swim in lakes, view the rocky coast, or visit Thunder Hole. You can hike (or drive) up Cadillac Mountain, the highest mountain in Acadia National park, which is one of dozens of mountains to climb. From here you can look down to Bar Harbor and the Porcupine Islands, the Cranberry Islands, and much of Mt. Desert Island

Guestbook comments from the owner

Our stay at the cottage was fantastic. It was a perfect place. Peaceful, quiet, and the accomadations worked out perfectly for us. We had good weather, so we able to hike and kayak nearly every day. We had such a good time that we are thinking seriously about next year doing it again. Again thanks very much.

Beautiful, Quiet, Tranquil, Family Friendly

  • 5 of 5

We just completed our week long family stay at this rustic but beautiful cottage. Beautiful views from the dining room, front porch, front bedrooms and the wonderful dock. We appreciated the cleanliness, comfortable beds and fully equipped kitchen. So much to do. We were busy hiking , touring Acadia National Park, the Schoodic Peninsula and of course shopping and eating in Bar Harbor and the quiter harbors as well. We would return from our excursions to relax on the front porch or kayak off the pier. We did see two porpoises right off the pier one afternoon! The only negative was the time went by too quickly. We hope to return to Caleb's Cottage in the near future.

A beautiful well stocked vacation spot

  • 4 of 5

This was a beautiful, sparkly clean, well stocked home- linens and dishes, pots and pans (our adult children baked and cooked great meals) dishwasher, washer and dryer, good books, games, sundries were all provided. There were open shelves and large airy spaces and lots of windows, which made the house even nicer. We enjoyed home-made cinnamon buns on the porch one sunny morning. There was a dock and a view of the water that was peaceful and quintessentially Maine. The only reason that this is not a 5 is that it was a little tricky to find, (no one's GPS got it right) and the road is a bit narrow and dark at night; I was concerned when our children were arriving late in the evening. And, although part of our group hiked directly from the house onto great trails, the villagers among us needed to get into a car to visit a town. Also, through no fault of our gracious host, the internet was spotty at best, and sometimes did not work at all. Because we were 6 adults (some were working remotely), we tended to overload the demand. But this is a fabulous home, and we all felt grateful that we got to experience Acadia while staying here. Acadia, by the way, is also a great destination!

The house was very comfortable & clean. It had a relaxed Maine feel to it. The lane was very quiet & peaceful. Acadia was only a short walk to access 2 great trails without needing to drive or leave the neighborhood. We also took some wonderful canoe trips from the private dock.

Wonderful "family" vacation

  • 5 of 5

Our three generation "family" spent a wonderful week at Caleb's Cottage. The cabin is spacious and the amenities were more than we expected - linens, towels, laundry, dishes, spices, games, small appliances, you name it, it was there. Loved enjoying our morning tea/coffee on the front porch. The cabin was spotlessly clean upon arrival. We all got to do something special during our stay and we did all the activities together - hiking, biking, kayaking, car museum. logging show, boat trip around island, magic show, sea glass hunting, miniature golfing, shopping, and the list goes on. Was wonderful to spend time enjoying the view and spend time with the "family".

Rustic yet grand oceanside cottage

  • 5 of 5

For a boating family this cottage is unparalleled. The semiprivate dock (shared with neighbors) is perfect for sailing, kayaking, rowing, and windsurfing. The house features high ceilings, huge ocean-view porch, expansive common areas, and pine everywhere. Facing west on Connor Point, the sunsets were great. Floors creak, but that adds to the charm. Large kitchen has wide-open storage so even first-time guests can easily find what they need. Proximity to Acadia hiking trails and supermarket were added benefits. We loved it.
