Our 2 BR condo at White Sands Village is right across from White Sands Beach in Kailua Kona. The condo is quiet, restful and only a short walk down the driveway to one of the best swimming and boogie boarding beaches on the Big Island. It's close to great snorkeling, surfing and paddle boarding, and near lovely restaurants directly on the water, with full shopping facilities a couple of miles north or south of the condo.
Magic Sands Beach, as White Sands Beach is usually called, is truly awesome. We were literally swimming next to huge sea turtles the last time we were there. The boogie boarding is great and if you like to surf, there are good spots nearby. Magic Sands Beach has full facilities - a life guard, toilets, outdoor showers, and even a beach volley ball net.
If you like to snorkel, Kahaluu Beach is mile down the road and great for that. There are life guards there too, and an offshore reef that smooths the waves and makes is safer for young ones to use the beach. Several medium sized turtles are usually found here, near shore in shallow water. The beach is rocky near shore so bring reef shoes to make it easy to walk out where the turtles like to hang out. Another great beach for the young visitors is the Kamakahonu, or King Kam Beach in downtown Kailua Kona, next to the Kailua pier. This popular beach has such gentle wave action it's known as the “Kids' Beach'. The King Kam beach is a great spot for families with small children to enjoy the ocean.
The condo complex pool is salt water, but not heavily so, so it is wonderful to swim in. There is a nice hot tub too, right next to the pool. The complex also has tennis courts if you like to play, as well as a pool table near the office and a lending library.
There are two really comfortable twin beds in the second bedroom. There is a new 55” UHD LCD TV with high def cable channels and a blu-ray player as well. There is high speed internet and free wireless. There’s also covered parking and an elevator.
We cook a lot, so the kitchen is well equipped. The lanai is huge and we love to sit out there and read or watch the birds and the ocean.
The condo has recently been upgraded. We installed a new Bosch dishwasher, upgraded the air conditioning (although you don’t need it that much) and put in a new garbage disposal and hot water tank.

This was our second stay at Carol's condo in three years - we would have used it last year except someone else nabbed it first. The condo is in the back building so it is quieter and there is no street noise. It is well appointed and comfortable. We are a family with two boys, one with special needs, and everyone felt at home. Thank you, again, Carol.
Carol's condo was exactly as advertised and as good as all the reviews I read beforehand. It was clean and comfy, and stocked with most things we needed. Sitting on the large lanai and watching all the different birds was something my whole family loved to do everyday. Being across the street from such a nice beach and some great snorkeling right down the road , was awesome. We felt like we were close enough to restaurants and shopping without being right in the middle of it. We had a wonderful stay and wouldn't hesitate to stay again and to recommend to our friends!
Very pleasant condo, within easy driving to many prime locations, and walking distance to a great snorkeling beach. During our stay, the sand was "out" at white sands so we actually did not swim there. But still very nice
Our family of four stayed at this location over the Christmas and New Year holidays. The condo was clean and the overall facility was well maintained. It is only a short walk down the driveway to the Magic Sands beach, where we spent many hours playing in the ocean, swimming with turtles and even seeing a pod of humpback whales. It is about a ten minute drive to the heart of Kona. This was a plus for us, as we were close enough to town that we could go for a quick lunch or dinner but we were not impacted by the hustle and bustle of the tourists. The kitchen has everything needed to cook any meal at home. There is a grocery store less than 10 minutes to the south. The lanai was perfect for the kids to eat breakfast on in the morning and for the parents to relax on in the evening. If you are looking for a great place to homeport from for day trips or just to spend some time relaxing and recovering from a day playing at the beach, we would highly recommend this condo. Carol, the owner, was great to work with and makes sure that her guests have everything needed for their visit.
The condo was perfect for our stay. It was large, and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with all the little things you don't get with a time share like a large spice collection, boogie boards, beach chairs, and a cooler. The building was along the run course for the Kona Ironman so my wife and friends got to see the leaders, and eventually me, from just in front of the building. There's a nice sand beach right across the street, and another about a mile down the road. Between the breeze and all the ceiling fans, we were comfortable with the air conditioning off and the doors open. There's a nice grill too.
The only downsides I can remember was an intermittent wifi that needed to be reset every few days, and a broken chair in the dining room.
