Steve, Terri and Evan Matthews enjoy exploring the outdoors and sharing it with friends. When we found the home in Nakusp BC we were absolutely delighted by the positive spiritual experience we gained from the hot springs and the local people! We ran a snowcat skiing operation in Idaho for 17 years and understand hospitality. Our goal is to bring our outdoor experience to the Hot Springs Escape!
Martha Dyck purchased this house in 2005
The mountain ranges in Nakusp and Revelstoke British Columbia are the best in the world for snowmobiling, skiing and snowboarding. Since there are favorite sports of ours this opportunity was a dream come true. In the summer months we enjoy mountain biking, kayaking and hiking. While the activities help us stay healthy and activie the hot springs bring healing and relaxation.
Sitting in the hot tub looking out at Mt. Odin from your hot springs pool is an experience in ralaxation that you will not forget. Osprey and Eagles fly by at eye level and dive down into the lake for a fish.
We really enjoyed your cabin, the location and also the privacy. It's a beautiful place and comes with everything we can possibly need. The view is spectacular and surroundings so peaceful!
Had a great time again this year! We come to fish and it was good and productive. The B S sessions on the back deck were also good and productive. Martha did a great job keeping us happy.
We had an exceptional time. The home is spacious, clean, well maintained, and not difficult to find, although we are locals so we know the area. I found Martha to be very helpful and clear and easy to work with. I would definitely recommend this listing and will return again for another relaxing getaway.
Timing can be everything. The house was awesome (except for the toilet seat broken by previous renters that had yet to be replaced). Very clean. Owners book of activities and sights was helpful as well. The tub was the highlight of our stay. Thanks for sharing your place with us - we would love to come again without a smokey view.
We had a group of 5 ladies that stayed at this property for 4 nights. The view of the lake from the deck was fantastic. We were also blessed with exceptional weather. The hot tub on the deck which is naturally fed from a warm spring was great. It had all of the 'extras' that go with renting a VRBO. We did find that while it appeared you could access a radio station, we were not successful. Having no internet access also meant we had a very peaceful and relaxed stay. The one thing that was missing was a toilet seat. While initially as a group of women this appeared to be a challenge, we did navigate this quite well. We met Martha who helped with some of the local things we were curious about. Nakusp is a charming town and the people we met were very friendly. We had a truck and I would highly recommend a truck or SUV as the terrain is a bit hilly and graveled. Also, be aware that dangerous goods are allowed on the ferry on Tuesdays and Thursdays. If a fuel truck comes up they are allowed on and then only 25 additional passengers. This meant we waited at the ferry for 1 1/2 hours which wasn't a problem for us as we enjoyed viewing the lake. We had kayaks and the only launch place we were able to find was in Nakusp. Having said that, the lake was fantastic for kayaking. I would definitely recommend this location.
My wife and two children spent a few days here in February. The location is picturesque, the back deck with the hot tub has breathtaking views of the lake with the mountains in the background. Having access to your own natural hot spring fed tub is a luxury that can only be found in very few places. The cabin is well stocked and cozy. The Internet signal though was too weak for any connection from inside the house and we were asked to take our garbage with us but had to leave it as we had no room to pack it. Overall a great stay!
The Nakusp and Revelstoke areas are most famous for snowmobiling as well as heli/cat skiing. The Halcyon area is located on the northern end of the Valley of The Hot Springs. For kids there is the Enchanted Forest with adorable elves, little houses and tree houses to explore. Sky Trek is another great activity for families. These two atractions are about 1.5 hours north. There are multiple outfitters in the area who offer summer activities as well that include heli hiking, alpine touring and white water rafting. Motorcycling in this area is very popular with the spectacular mountain views. Mountain biking as well as hiking into waterfalls or amongst the wild flowers is also a favorite pasttime of the locals. Mount Revelstoke Park offers a very inexpensive easy way to drive to the summit. If you enjoy fishing then Arrow Lake has world class lake trout primarily in the fall and winter. There are also beaches, parks and local events to enjoy. The Nakusp music festival is in July.
