Hale Mahina means “house of the moon.” It is truly a paradise, nestled on a sandy beach halfway between Kaanapali and Kapalua Resort areas, and just 10 minutes from the historic whaling town of Lahaina. This oceanfront condominium is part of a low-rise property, set among lush tropical gardens and a small sandy beach.
This large one bedroom condo has an open and breezy layout providing you the perfect place to call home on your tropical vacation. It is fully equipped and tastefully decorated with a beautifully updated kitchen containing granite counter tops, upgraded cabinets, and stainless appliances. The bathroom has also been remodeled offering dual sinks and a tub/shower combo for your convenience. There is also a washer and dryer right in the unit!
Relax in the oceanfront pool or Jacuzzi. Snorkel or swim from the sandy beach just a few steps from your condo. Or, sip a Mai Tai on your large oceanfront lanai with a magnificent view of the ocean and the islands of Lanai and Molokai with always changing beautiful sunsets. Then, consider grilling on oceanside barbecues with seating on the beautiful grounds.
Shopping is just minutes away at Whalers Village in Kaanapali or Lahaina Town. Enjoy golf at some of the best golf courses in the world just minutes away in Kapalua and Kaanapali.
Throughout our years of living in a variety of places (San Francisco Bay Area, Scottsdale, AZ, and San Diego) we have maintained a deep connection to Hawaii having spent significant time on Oahu (Honolulu and Kailua), and visiting all of the other islands. But Maui offers the best of all. So, we decided to buy a piece of it.
We love the Hale Mahina. It is beautifully maintained and offers a comfortable quiet lifestyle for a getaway. But, it is also close to anything that you would want from fine dining to nightlife in Kapalua, Kaanapali and Lahaina. But, most of all, the beauty of the ocean and sunsets surpass all.
Small resort without crowds. You are a few of steps from the sandy beach and ocean. And, if you prefer, a lawn chair on the grass next to the ocean, that's is a great way to relax too. But, a big difference from other places is that we have an abundance of sea turtles swimming back and forth in our small bay, and napping on the beach. And, then there are the whales. It is very exciting when you can see them from your lanai or the beach.
Perfect view of the ocean. Perfect for a girls retreat, family with kids, and honeymoon for couples. The grounds are kept nice. Pool and hot tub tight right there. I am going to try to get this specific property every Maui vacation! Excellent star rating.
We loved our stay at the Hale Mahina in beautful Maui right on the beach. This very comfortable unit has all of the amenities including upgraded lighting, double sinks in the bathroom which has two entries, spacious main room, and a large lanai with beautiful unobstructed views of the islands of Molokai and Lanai. The kitchen has upgraded appliances with granite countertops, and is equipped with almost anything one would want in terms of cookware. The Hale Mahina is a beautifully maintained, small complex; and everything is right there: ocean, beach, bbq’s, pool, spa, comfortable grassy area for relaxation. All just steps from the condo. We kept active throughout our stay, snorkeling with turtles right in front of the beach, visiting other beaches nearby, and sampling the variety of restaurants in the area. We also loved grilling right next to the ocean while enjoying the beautiful sunsets. What an ideal location! We will return to this paradise again!
We had a great 4-night stay at this condo. We loved the second floor for the straight-out ocean view and privacy it affords. That being said, this is a hopping complex and there was a lot of activity on the grass, pool and beach. It would be a great place for families with kids to relax. We are past that, but it didn't bother us. We saw lots of turtles and fish when snorkling right on the beach out front. A noise machine in the bedroom was a nice touch to help drown out the hallway and traffic noises. The unit is modern and clean; obviously recently updated. The bed was super comfy. Ice maker and washer were nice (dryer wasn't vented so we passed on it). It would be nice to have AC, but opening the front door provided a nice cross-breeze. We had smoke-detector issues, but maintenance was responsive. The location is great and it was just a quick drive to Lahaina and Honolua.
From the oversized lanai, the views of the semi-private, golden sand beach and lush gardens are spectacular, as are the nearby islands of Lanai and Molokai. The condo interior is spacious and well equiped. The professionallly designed interior lighting system is the best we have experienced right down to the airliner style floor lights down each side of the hall floor and steps. The owners are responsive and full of Aloha. Honokowai is a pleasant and convenient area of Maui with shops, restaurants, and a supermarket nearby. We will be coming back to the Hale Mahina next winter.
My husband and I just spent 2 weeks in this wonderful condo. We have stayed at Hale Mahina before but this is the first time in this unit. I sometimes hesitate to write reviews because I don't like to give away secrets about amazing places because then everyone tries to stay here and then it's always booked up when I want to go. Having said that, the unit is everything as described. It is is very clean and well maintained. The condo has a great layout, well appointed kitchen, comfy bed and of course amazing views!!! We like the fact that this is a smaller complex and it is very quiet and relaxing. The grounds are beautiful as well. We enjoyed sitting on the lanai and watching the whales, turtles, turquoise water, sunsets and rainbows. We will definitely be back!
This is an amazing place to stay. My husband and I stayed here for the beginning part of our honeymoon and we couldn't have been happier. The lanai faces your own private beach, its quiet, very clean and anything you need is in the condo. The beach in front is perfect for swimming and relaxing if you don't want to venture out to the rest of the island or it's close to some other great beaches as well. The place looked exactly like the photos say, except that you are more on the beach than I expected - a bonus! We loved every minute of it and would recommend to anyone wanting to stay there. We will definitely stay there again. You would definitely need a car (although I think you need a car anywhere you stay in Maui). Linda was very helpful with any questions we had.

This rental is governed by the Hawaii Innkeepers and Hotel Act, and no tenancy is granted other than the vacation rental period specified in this confirmation.
If this unit is rented directly from the owner, a deposit of 2 nights is required within 5 days of the reservation to reserve this unit, and the balance is payable 30 days prior to arrival. We accept payment in the form of Personal Checks (subject to clearing), Cashier’s Checks and Money Orders. Hawaii taxes (13.42%) must be added to all rentals.

Cancellation Policy is as follows: 50% of monies is forfeited if cancelled less than 30 days prior to the arrival date, unless the unit is re-rented. For all reservations cancelled after the receipt of the deposit, there will be a $75 cancellation fee.
Parking: There is no parking fee.
