Five Star Plus!
My wife and I stayed here in October, 2012 and this was my first time to San Francisco. The apartment was exactly as listed and more. Tony made every effort to make our stay pleasant and comfortable. The kitchen was stocked with goodies; the accommodations were more than enough space, quiet neighborhood and we felt safe, walking distance to parks, shops and public transportation. It was like being at home away from home. We highly recommend this property!
Tony is a fabulous host, even offering to pick me up at the BART station. The apartment is really nicely done and very clean. It worked really well for me as my son lives only a few blocks away on the same street. Bernal Heights is a lovely part of town. The apartment is about 6-7 blocks from Cortland Avenue, a really nice little shopping and eating area.
I will definitely return to this apartment as long as my son is in the area.
I highly recommend The New Wheel bike shop for electric bike rentals; owners Brett and Karen are great. They rented me a Stromer, which is what I ride at home. You can easily get up ANY San Francisco hills!! A great way to see the city.
Wonderful stay, felt like a citizen, neigborhood calm and safe. Thank you Tony!
This rental was my first experience booking through Home Away. With that being said, I was very skeptic of the process, location and security.
Once I arrived all doubt disappeared once I met the owner, Tony. He greeted my fiance and I with such a warm welcome as if we've known him for years. He gave us a quick tour of our place which was perfect space for the two of us. Everything was very clean and neat and even the bathrooms had a few amenities you would expect at a 5 star hotel. We ended up in the kitchen we were surprised to see a fridge stocked with bare necessities and then some! We truly felt like we were at home.
With this being our second time traveling to San Francisco, you could definitely say we didn't know the best way to get around and sight-seeing adventures to check out. Tony went above and beyond and gave us a tour of the neighborhood of Bernal Heights. Bernal Heights? Never heard of it. That's what I thought. Reality is, this place is a hidden gem. There's a quaint street full of coffee shops, specialty shops and restaurants within walking distance. He also suggested where to eat and you know what they say - locals know best. The places he suggested to try definitely did not disappoint.
I could go on and on about how great my experience was staying here but I'll sum it up since I'm rambling - our trip wouldn't have been as amazing if we didn't stay here. I can't thank Tony enough!
I definitely plan on staying here again.
This was a great experience for us. Neither of us had been to San Francisco for nearly 20 years and wanted to explore many of the different neighborhoods in the City. Bernal Heights is south of downtown, but so accessible via transit. We bought the City Pass and traveled all over, connecting to so many places. And the neighborhood truly is a gem - grocery store, coffee shops, restaurants, farmers market and shopping all within walking distance the views from Bernal Hill were amazing.
We felt welcomed by the owner, Tony, who gave us a brief tour of the neighborhood and had many great suggestions of sights to see. The apartment is exactly as pictured, with a nice number of amenities and Tony provided us with some snacks and lighter breakfast fare. It really made our visit stand out. We highly recommend staying here!
We highly recommend staying at this place. Tony is very nice, thoughtful, and true. He was the consummate host. We were welcomed with fruit and bread. The apartment was very comfortable for two. It was charming, clean, and spacious with plenty of natural light and it opened up to a backyard. The kitchen came stocked with several staples and has a refrigerator and sink. The location is convenient with several bus lines nearby. We did not have a car and we were able to explore the city. We would recommend this space to friends and family and hope it is available the next time we need a place to stay in San Francisco. It was a real jewel and it made our trip to San Francisco that much more amazing. Thank you Tony!
Close to airport and freeways.
While visiting San Francisco there are many things to do and are anywhere from 20 minutes to less than an hour to get to, we have a beautiful bay that has kayaking, and many museums along with many other specialty shops and Theaters, International restaurants, Fishermans Warf which has Ferry Service, and unique districts within the city and a 20 minute short walk to B.A.R.T. (Bay Area Rapid Transit), that can take you to most places around the bay area, you can walk up to the top of Bernal Heights and walk the 360 degree trail and see are beautiful city....
