We love this cottage!

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I have been coming to Albert's and Pam's cottage for the past 2 years during Brewfest. It's nice to have the option of staying less than 1 week and it fits our needs perfectly. It's quaint, cozy and welcoming . The fire pit is great and the view of the lake and causeway is awesome. It isn't on the water but we don't's quiet and so close to the bike path. It's easy to get to Burlington (~ 15 minutes) and Winooski (next town over) is becoming a fun place for food and brews! The nearby farm stands are convenient and keep our kitchen well stocked (did I mention the homemade pies?!). As for the owners, they are good people who want you to enjoy their property and are available if you have any problems or questions. We hope to continue our visits for many years to come!

Absolutely Perfect location

  • 5 of 5

It has been over 8 years, I have been coming to Vermont every year with my friends. always love staying here.

owner Al is one of the awesome & friendly person ever i met. He not only arrange for special requirements but also he gave us personal tour & guidance to local beaches and town attractions.

living in your house we felt like never wanna leave and just keep looking @ lake Champlain. location is so close to Burlington city that 5-10 mins we were able to hop back to the city.

once again keep up the great work guys and we look forward to come back in early fall or this summer!!

Location, location

  • 4 of 5

Don't get negative review after all you are renting a cottage so should not expect a hotel room. Decor I thought was cute and creative. Had the basics and clean. Great location, and I agree being directly on water not necessarily better as its on a short dead end street where other places weren't so very quiet. Kayaking fun and easy to carry just across street on hidden path between two cottages to public access. White cap beach too far to carry a street over. Swimming good but bring water shoes to avoid clams. Water was warm and not deep at all so good for beginner kayaking. Take left out of yard through small path and there is the prettiest bike trail ever literally crossing the lake. I hear there is a bike ferry to next island but didn't try. A bikers paradise all over town, shame I don't bike. Only 15-20 to Burlington. We took ferry to Port Kent called free shuttle from Ausible Chasm for some scenic hikes and tubing, good day trip. Awesome dog park, Starr Farm, Minutes away. Large so dogs don't get into each others face and people are nice and responsible there. Used Oh My Dog in So Burlington about 20 min but worth it for my day trips. Couldn't say enough about the place and how they treated me and my dog. Been to alot of VT but by far the most happening place to be. Only negative for use was how loud AC in bedroom was but we are light sleepers. Overall great time and great owners.

Perfect & private home base for exploring VT!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, small dog, and I set off for an adventure in VT, as well as a visit with friends and family. This house was perfect in every way. Every morning, my husband would walk the dog along the gorgeous causeway and paths, while I slept in (enjoying the bedroom A/C that easily cooled the house with the large ceiling fan in the living room during a few very hot days). We'd have breakfast on the enclosed front porch, listening to the birds. We made use of the kayaks, which were in great shape and allowed for an amazing experience on the lake and islands. The house was just a short drive to downtown Burlington, and two grocery stores are located close by. At night, we'd grill some dinner, watch the sunset, and then sit by the fire into the evening with good friends. I can't recommend this place enough, and I hope we can visit again someday soon.

Glorious Cottage for All Seasons

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a few nights in mid-March 2016, and all three of us enjoyed our stay.

Some highlights:

* The house is barely a two-minute walk from the lake. Our first morning in we woke up to steadily, silently falling snow, and took the opportunity to walk out a bit on the causeway, which bisects the lake, which on this morning was still frozen. This was a fun experience. A couple of days later after the lake had thawed we took a longer version of the same walk, this time at sunset. That was fun, too. The causeway is beautiful.

* The house is quite cheap given that it has pretty much everything you need (including a full kitchen, although without a microwave) and is almost right on the lake. A previous review claimed that the house is "rundown, dark, and unwelcoming": we disagree on all counts. Everything in the house functions just fine, it's about as full of light as possible, and the house is full of nice little decorative touches (what appears to be a djembe drum in the living room; a crab-shaped call bell in the foyer; a yard full of planters with faces on them) that suggest the owners really want people to enjoy their stay.

Some less-than-highlights:

* The bathroom is separated from the second bedroom by a curtain, not a door. In practice this means that anyone who sleeps in the second bedroom will probably hear anybody who uses the bathroom. We remedied this by having the third person sleep on the couch instead, but it might be trickier for other groups.

* The place was a little more dusty than expected, albeit in a forgivable under-the-furniture/behind-the-heater/on-top-of-the-fan kind of way.

* Colchester is somewhat out of the way - maybe 15 minutes driving - from Burlington. We adjusted by getting lunch in town/outside of Burlington most days and it was fine for us, but people who like the idea of swinging by home in the middle of the day might not like this as much.

Overall the highlights carried the day for us and we had a lot of fun, which is why we're going with 5 stars.

We loved it!

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time. The house was comfortable, very clean,, very quiet and gave us just the getaway we needed. The bathroom was a bit small and there was no microwave, but we adjusted just fine. It was cottage living in a great lake neighborhood. We explored quite a bit of the area and for the price we paid, we much preferred the location of this cottage, even to some who were right on the water. We felt a good deal off the beaten path and didn't have hardly any road traffic to deal with, which was nice. Some of the houses right on the water were also, right on the road, which wouldn't have been as nice. We got a chance to ride out on the causeway on our bikes and it was just lovely. Next time we will come when can cross over to the other side on the bike ferry. (it wasn't open yet) Instead, we drove to the other side by car and got a chance to view even more spectacular parts of the lake. We just love this lake and can't imagine getting to see all of it, even if we lived there for a year! It's just spectacular. We had a nice bonfire one night in the yard overlook the lake and could see another city way north, in NY and that was really just so pretty to see. Sadly we didn't get to meet the owners of the house, but we are so appreciative of the opportunity and we hope to get back to 111 Causeway Rd again.
