About Tara

My husband, my two kids and I love getting out of the city for a mountain escape. We are lucky to live in S. Ca. where you can live in a busy metropolitan area yet be in the mountains in just two hours! (Don't drive during rush hour!) Big Bear has four seasons, clean air, beautiful skies….we love it! The cabin is a labor of love…we hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Tara purchased this cabin in 2004

Why Tara chose Big Bear

What a great question! Why did we buy this property….you will know the minute you open the door, : )

What makes this cabin unique

Log, Log, Log, great sunlight in the cabin, wonderful covered front porch with a view of the tree tops. The Spa. The Great Room Mountain Style. The Great Kitchen. No Junk Drawers! The Empty Garage! Steps to the National Forest with a great sled hill and the park in the opposite direction with tennis, basketball and a skate board park!!!

"I almost don't want to tell anyone about this because I am kind of selfish about things I love, but being that this is the holiday time of year, one good deed deserves another. The place is fun, great looking / feeling and peaceful. The high ceilings and wood put you at ease right away. I sat at the kitchen bar for hours reading and sipping wine. My two kids were in heaven. Tara has a ton of games, puzzles and toys for them to play with. They didn't touch what we brought up. The kids room is so fun, my son now wants bunk beds. Watched the laker game and all sorts of football on the flat screen and slept like a stone in the master bed. What is really unusual is that everything is where you need it. The toilet backed up once and in the first cabinet I looked...there was a plunger. Problem solved. Needed to make some tea... tea kettle was in the first place I looked. Its like you're at home, with snow. Could go on about the nice hot tub on a snowy night, lounging by the fire or walking to the Natl. Forest, but then YOU might book my next trip here. Tara is nice and easy to deal with and left very clear instructions. We have booked many vacation homes and these were the most easy to decipher. Kudos!"

Great retreat in the mountains with family

  • 5 of 5

The cabin and location was everything we expected. Very well kept, clean and quiet. Our two daughters had a great time in the spa, watching wildlife from the patio and playing in the kids rooms that has tons of toys and bunk beds, what more could they need? Adults had a great time likewise as our daughters were happy. There's a great restaurant down the street that has take-out as well in case you don't want to cook and there are a number of markets in the area, so no need to go to far. Getting in and setting up was easy, instructions were great and everything worked out without any trouble. Absolutely loved our stay and look forward to coming back in the winter to see some snow. Thank you Tara!

Perfect Thanksgiving

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic stay at this beautiful, cozy cabin. Three generations stayed together and this gem accommodated us all for the long Thanksgiving weekend. The kitchen is well stocked, the Jacuzzi hot, plenty of family friendly board games, super clean. My kids loved the bunk beds and that there was a tv in their room. The owner, Tara, could not have been more helpful and pleasant and got back to us quickly with miscellaneous inquiries. It even snowed! We hope to make this spot a family tradition!

Perfect Weekend Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this lovely cabin last week and had a lovely time! The space was perfect for our group. My only complaint...there was no snow. But that was Mother Nature's fault, not anyone else's. The kids still had a great time and we got plenty of rest and relaxation so overall our trip to Sugarloaf was a success.

AwesomeSauce

  • 5 of 5

I've been staying with Tara in the fall for 5 years in a row I think. Its been a few since I wrote a review because, well…what is there left to say? The place is perfect. Always immaculately clean and well maintained, but not sterile. Its like you're going to your really neat Aunt's house. Its just that your Aunt isn't home and she lives near the best SoCal skiing, a pristine forest, fun local restaurants & pubs, and a zoo. Oh yeah…your Aunt has a bitchin' hot tub!!! My kids look forward to this all year and are sad to leave. I pretend not to be sad to leave. Gotta be strong for the little ones.

Just book it. You'll feel smart later.

Owner's Response: Ok...so can I adopt you, : ) What is there left to say??? I agree!!! Just when I think you've written the most delightful review...you do it again! Really for all of you looking at my cabin...we have never met. Yet we have known each other for...is it 5 years, I do think it is going on 5. Your kids are bigger, one of mine became an adult this month. Thank you for these fun, incredibly wonderful words. That is the goal...spotless yet a home away from home. You just say it better than I do!!! Thank you, : )

Well-appointed, cozy and clean!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I just returned from a fall weekend in this lovely cabin. It was perfect for our family of four! It was very clean and organized, modern and every need seemed to anticipated by all of the thoughtful touches. We loved the hot-tub; the cozy sectional leather couch; and the king-size bed. My kids loved that there were two sets of bunk beds in the children's space. No arguing over who got the top bunk! There were books, games, movies, puzzles and toys. We loved the location being a bit quieter and only a short drive to the village. Tara, the owner, was efficient, kind and so easy to work with. She answered any questions I emailed with promptly. We would love to stay here again sometime!
