About Susan or Harold Diesen
We bought this property in 1997 as a family retreat. It is now our retirement home for a portion of the year. We also live in Arizona. I was born and raised in Montana and my husband is a transplant from North Dakota. We raised our family in Missoula and were there for 29 years before deciding to live in a yurt on our lake property.
Susan or Harold Diesen purchased this Cabin in 1997
Why Susan or Harold Diesen chose Polson
We found this property while boating around Flathead Lake just checking out the various bays. I remember crawling all over this property when it was for sale. It was completely undeveloped and we fell in love with the rustic feel of it. After we bought it our first project was to thin the trees. We had an old pick-up topper on the ground where we kept our tools to keep them dry. I remember having our radio on in the truck listening to music when it was interrupted by the announcement of Princess Diana's accident. Our first building was an out house that is still on the property. It has stenciling on the walls and a padded seat. Our neighbor had a yurt and thought we should buy one, so we decided to take the plunge. He has since added a log home. We added a bigger yurt.
What makes this Cabin unique
We love being on Flathead Lake- the largest and cleanest lake west of the Mississippi. A good portion of the property is mountainous so there is plenty of room to roam- hike. We have an abundance of wildlife- deer, ducks, squirrels, wood peckers, swallows, and even the occasional bear.

Great family retreat! We loved it!
Beautiful property that fit our family's needs perfectly! The outdoor kitchen and eating area work well for a large group. The Diesens were wonderful to work with and very accommodating. We would definitely stay here again. Thank you so much!

Beutiful location, very clean. Enjoyable stay.
Thanks for your review, Suzy. We are so happy you had a good experience. It makes it all worth the effort and the time away to have satisfied renters. This season renters have had amazing weather and water. So happy you enjoyed your stay.
The Place Is Amazing
Susan and Harold were excellent hosts. My family and I really enjoyed our time spent at the yurts. We would definitely stay again.
I just read my reviews and am so happy your family enjoyed your stay. Please come back.
This is an incredible place to stay Plenty of sleeping arrangements that are comfortable and clean. The views from the decks are breathtaking! We loved the dock and water access, and found ourselves playing there all day. Plenty of space inside and outside (amazing outdoor kitchen and deck) to entertain our family and friends. The yurts were a fun experience and we would highly recommend it to anyone!
The response on here was for our house in Arizona. Hilarious. Editing now! Anyway, Kelsey- thank you for your review. Knowing renters have a good experience here is so rewarding.
Gorgeous Rental Property!
Really great property -- beautiful! The lake is a beautiful turquoise and the yurt property is on a quiet little bay. The yurts are really fun to stay in. The bunk beds in the bunk house are really only for kids -- they are a little too narrow for adults. A bit of a drive back to Polson if you need supplies, so bring what you need. The outdoor kitchen is awesome! We had a great time making breakfast outside. The owners are really nice and are very helpful! My group loved this place and wanted to stay longer!
I don't often think to read the reviews but just happened on yours today, Tara. Thank you for the great review! And thanks for being awesome and responsible renters.
Our property is approximately 8 miles from Polson. Polson is a small Montana town located on the Confederated Salish, Kootenai Indian Reservation. It is on the south end of Flathead Lake, the largest and cleanest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi. Polson has a small town atmosphere yet offers lots of festivities in the summer. Our property will only be available for a week over July 4, 2015. Polson has always offered an amazing fireworks display on the fourth, and this year they will have not only fireworks, but also a parade and a concert in Sacagawea Park located north of the bridge. There are great eating spots, including a wonderful Mexican restaurant at the bridge and overlooking the lake. On the south end of town there is a big Walmart and down the hill near the golf course is McDonalds. Close by there is a small stand run by a local gal that sells fresh produce. July might be early for Huckleberries but ask her. She might have some from last season. If you have never tasted a Huckleberry from the Montana mountains, you are in for a treat. The lake is 28 miles long and at the other end is Glacier Park, a must destination if you have never been there. It is not a bad drive from the north end of the lake. The east shore of the lake features lots of cherry trees. They have blossom festivals in May and in Polson July 18 there will be a cherry festival. I'm not sure when the fruit will first be available. There are some unique shops in the down town area and several second hand stores. Polson has a small town ambiance yet in summer swells by several thousand people so becomes a hub of activity. Festivals, concerts, parades, boat races, street basketball, antique car shows, etc keep the place hopping. Every week features a local Farmers' Market. In case of illness or injury the hospital in Polson is one of the best around. So much to say about this great place. If there is not enough to do in town, spending your whole time on our property can be all the fun you need.
