Fun and peaceful

  • 4 of 5

This was the first time we've vacationed at the Northern Neck. Penelope sent very detailed information which we really appreciated. We had fun crabbing, kayaking, paddle boarding and jumping off the dock. It was nice to be able to have privacy to do partake in the previous activities without wondering if we would bother others. The only suggestion that we have is to supply more dinnerware, correct lid sizes for the pots, and supply food storage containers. Because of the limited supply of the dinnerware, dishes needed to be washed every night. There were 7 of us. Also, because the door to the second bedroom was broken and leaked water when showering, all of us showered in the main one. We didn't want to constantly deal with a wet floor. In addition, it might be suggested to renters that they bring fire lighters for the crab pot or if they want to make a fire. The ones that were at the house didn't work. The house was fairly clean except for the microwave and stove top.

Perfect Spot

  • 5 of 5

My family and I just spent 5 days in this wonderful home while in town for a wedding. Everything you could possibly need, and more, is provided. The owner does a great job of communicating, and gave us all the information we needed for a wonderful vacation. The canoe, kayaks, stand up paddle boats, and the fishing pier were awesome! The house is beautiful and tastefully decorated: the pictures don't do it justice. The 'wow' factor comes from the incredible location -- the water view and privacy cannot be beat. We absolutely will be back!

Quiet and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

The house was everything it was stated to be. We really enjoyed the outside patio area and the spacious pier. It was so nice to be able to dock our boat and go out anytime we wanted. It was relaxing to get away from the office to the beauty and peace and quiet that you experience there. The whole family enjoyed their stay. Can't wait to come back!

Wonderful weekend getaway

  • 5 of 5

The pictures were very accurate and the owner gave us amazingly detailed instructions as to how to get in as well as things to at the home and in the area. I property was cleaned and well-maintained and I would definitely recommend this property to a friend and even family (as i also did take some of my extended family with me). We mostly just enjoyed the activities to do at the home (took my daughter out on the canoe, my husband and father fished from the canoe and dock, go crabbing, as well as got a chance to stand up paddle board with my brother). All and all, a great family weekend.

The house and property lived up to expectations: right on the water, peaceful, and accommodating. The owners were gracious in providing information and answering questions. We would return in a heartbeat.

A perfect place to relax and reconnect before the crush of fall responsibilities

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a wonderful time here! Such a great few days of being together, playing, enjoying the creek and the river, and providing our pup the perfect vacation. What started as a plan to take one last vacation as a family that included our dog, turned into a blissful few days of fishing, crabbing, kayaking, canoeing and more. There is so much to do on site that you don't even have to venture away, but we did enjoy a charter fishing trip out of Ingram Bay! The house is perfectly designed for together time and independent time for everyone and is very "teen" friendly. We cooked meals together, had long fire pit discussions complete with s'mores, and moonlit chats on the dock. The most fun was seeing our pup exploring dock diving and swimming - really having a great time! The wifi is good and strong and I was able to work while there when needed and still enjoy the scenery. Ellen's Country Store up the road had everything we had forgotten and the Merry Point Ferry was so convenient to get us to Kilmarnock for golf and other supplies too. (Just don't try to take it at high tide or from 12 - 12:30. The tide was too high twice for us to use it). This home was the best (non tropical island) vacation I've ever had. We'll come back for sure!

Nine nearby regional wineries, like the Dog and Oyster Winery, await adventurous wine aficianados.
