This cottage was a wonderful place to spend our Christmas vacation. So peaceful and quiet with all the comforts of home.
Our stay in Robin's Nest at Oyster Cove during Thanksgiving of 2016 was such a welcome break from the stresses of "real life." Our family of six thoroughly enjoyed the home's very private location, with its gorgeous view of the waterfront. Even though our cell phones had difficulty connecting and Wifi was spotty, that proved a very needed relief from our devices, so we could enjoy the kayaks and dock, even taking a walk to the marina. We enjoyed several days in Williamsburg and Jamestown, but mostly, just loved staying in the home, relaxing.
The only suggestions I would say is that we would have liked to have been able to use the fireplaces since it was cold most of the week, but only the gas fireplace in the main room was "open for the season." Also, while we were preparing Thanksgiving dinner, the pots and pans didn't have lids, so we had to get a little creative!
The owner was so kind, but response time does take a bit, sometimes several days, but she was very clear about that, so we expected it. We definitely enjoyed our stay!
This was the first time we've vacationed at the Northern Neck. Penelope sent very detailed information which we really appreciated. We had fun crabbing, kayaking, paddle boarding and jumping off the dock. It was nice to be able to have privacy to do partake in the previous activities without wondering if we would bother others. The only suggestion that we have is to supply more dinnerware, correct lid sizes for the pots, and supply food storage containers. Because of the limited supply of the dinnerware, dishes needed to be washed every night. There were 7 of us. Also, because the door to the second bedroom was broken and leaked water when showering, all of us showered in the main one. We didn't want to constantly deal with a wet floor. In addition, it might be suggested to renters that they bring fire lighters for the crab pot or if they want to make a fire. The ones that were at the house didn't work. The house was fairly clean except for the microwave and stove top.
My family and I just spent 5 days in this wonderful home while in town for a wedding. Everything you could possibly need, and more, is provided. The owner does a great job of communicating, and gave us all the information we needed for a wonderful vacation. The canoe, kayaks, stand up paddle boats, and the fishing pier were awesome! The house is beautiful and tastefully decorated: the pictures don't do it justice. The 'wow' factor comes from the incredible location -- the water view and privacy cannot be beat. We absolutely will be back!
The house was everything it was stated to be. We really enjoyed the outside patio area and the spacious pier. It was so nice to be able to dock our boat and go out anytime we wanted. It was relaxing to get away from the office to the beauty and peace and quiet that you experience there. The whole family enjoyed their stay. Can't wait to come back!
The pictures were very accurate and the owner gave us amazingly detailed instructions as to how to get in as well as things to at the home and in the area. I property was cleaned and well-maintained and I would definitely recommend this property to a friend and even family (as i also did take some of my extended family with me). We mostly just enjoyed the activities to do at the home (took my daughter out on the canoe, my husband and father fished from the canoe and dock, go crabbing, as well as got a chance to stand up paddle board with my brother). All and all, a great family weekend.
The house and property lived up to expectations: right on the water, peaceful, and accommodating. The owners were gracious in providing information and answering questions. We would return in a heartbeat.
