Cottage, 3 Bedrooms + Den, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 8)
This beachside cottage is located just 100 yards from the beach on the beach side of Gulf Boulevard and 50 feet from the beach access. That means that once you get the family and all the beach gear out on the beach, only to hear the youngest one request a trip to the potty 1 minute after hitting the sand, no problem. It's only a few minutes walk and there are no roads to cross! The 3 bedrooms plus den and spacious living room allows ample room for your group inside and your private fenced yard, deck, tiki bar, and gas grill is ideal for outdoor entertaining.
This beach house works well for multi-generation families, small groups (girlfriends' getaway), couples traveling together, and dog owners (all wood and tile floors plus a fenced in yard). The spacious master bedroom features a queen bed and flat screen TV. The second bedroom is almost as large as the master; it was redone in summer 2016 and features a queen bed and flat screen TV. The third bedroom features a twin daybed with twin trundle and the kids' surfing-themed bunk room (redone in summer 2016) features a twin bunk bed and a large flat screen Smart TV.
Don't worry about bringing or buying beach gear. The house is stocked with boogie boards, sand toys, beach chairs, beach towels, a beach cart, etc. Just bring your own Speedo and flip flops. Unlike many beachside properties this one features a large parking area with room for six cars, or a car and motorhome or boat.
A car is nice to have to see attractions further inland but guests without a car can take the Suncoast Trolley up and down the Pinellas County beaches from Clearwater Beach to St. Pete Beach. The stop is right next door to the house. Indian Shores features dedicated walking and separate bike path lanes. There's plenty within a 2 mile radius - ice cream shops, Smugglers Cove mini golf, the seabird sanctuary, and scores of great restaurants. By car the house is 5 minutes from a Publix; Target and numerous other stores are all within a 15 minute drive.
We love spending time at 'Three Mermaids and a Crab' and hope you will, too!

About Gamin and Todd Zacharias
We are a beach-loving family that has many wonderful memories of vacations at beach houses. We love to entertain family and friends; our get-togethers are all about good food, good conversation, party games, and happy tired kids that go to bed early!
Gamin and Todd Zacharias purchased this House in 2011
Why Gamin and Todd Zacharias chose Pinellas County
Indian Shores is the perfect type of beach community - busy enough to have restaurants and attractions nearby without the highrises, crowds and traffic of a big beach town. Families and snowbirds alike love this area.
What makes this House unique
We are 70 yards from a Suncoast Trolley stop which can take you to all of the Pinellas County beach towns. Our beautiful beach has picnic tables, trees, sea oats, and peace and quiet. We love strolling down to the beach to watch the sunset, checking up on 'patients' at Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary, and noshing on Key Lime donuts at The Lighthouse Bakery on Sunday mornings.

Loved the house, close to the beach. Yard was perfect for the kids to play in the afternoon.
Charming house, is plenty of room for all the adults and grandchild, quite even though it was on Gulf Blvd. Todd was quick to respond to a water leak with the sprinkler system in the neighbor's yard which affected our water pressure. Will rent again, enjoyed our stay!
We absolutely loved our stay...the house was adorable, clean and the perfect size for our needs. There were beach toys for the kids, a cart to push to the beach the would hold everything we wanted to take. The house was furnished with everything you need. We could walk in just steps to the beach. It was perfect and I would stay again and recommend to anyone with a family or couples enjoying a getaway.
Charming and close to everything
We loved this place. It was close to the beach and was very comfortable. The owners were super helpful and responsive. It would have had 5 stars but the traffic noise was a bit much. That said, we are country bumpkins living on a dead end road, so any traffic noise would be unusual for us.
Immaculately clean, great location, private patio area. Owners were quick to respond to questions.
Would rent again. Great property for families with young children.
Great Family House on The Gulf
I've rented the Three Mermaids and a Crab twice this year, once slightly ahead of Hurricane Irma in September, and then for a family get together the week between Christmas and New Year. This is a great house for families, with plenty of sleeping space for adults and children alike. The two queen beds are comfortable for the adults in your group, while the bunk room and trundle bed alcove give the kids space for themselves. The living room/dining room area is large enough to accommodate a group for meals and game time. And then there is the beach - beautiful and easily accessible - you don't have to cross Gulf Blvd, just walk a few feet to the beach access ramp and hit the sand. Todd and Gamin supply a beach cart, some chairs and umbrellas, and a body board, so you are stocked from your first day.
The bathroom is small and it is the only one, but we never had a problem with a lack of hot water and staggering shower times. There is also an outside shower for rinsing off until the surf calls you back outside.
The parking is plentiful, something that has become harder to find with short term rentals along the Pinellas beaches.
We had a broken shower head on arrival of our Christmas stay and Todd was there the next morning to replace it with a new one.
Overall I would say this a wonderful house for families planning a beach vacation. The house is on grade, which makes it essential for older people who cannot handle the stairs in homes built to current height standards. There are not too many single family rentals left in the Indian Shores/Indian Rocks Beach area, and this one can easily handle 3 generations.
While you are there go have pizza at Slyce, a rum runner at the Seabreeze, and visit Rufus - the cutest little owl, living at the Sea Bird Sanctuary.
Nicely furnished, comfortable beds! Loved beach location!!
Perfect for our family.
While the beautiful beach is the main attraction there are many other things to do in the area. Kids love Smuggler's Cove Adventure Golf (less than a mile away) and visiting Clearwater's resident movie stars Winter and Hope the dolphins at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium (11 miles away). Splash Harbour Water Park just opened in Indian Rocks Beach; it's less than 2 miles away. Adults enjoy downtown St. Petersburg and the incredible Dali Museum (20 miles away) as well as Tampa Bay Rays games at Tropicana Field. Neighboring city Tampa (30 miles away) has its fabulous Riverwalk area which features the Straz Center, Glazer Children's Museum, Tampa History Museum, Tampa Art Museum, the Florida Aquarium, and several waterfront parks. Tampa is also home to Lowry Park Zoo, Busch Gardens theme park, and NFL and NHL teams.
