I am a professional musician and home remodeler in New Orleans.
Brandon purchased this house in 2007
I have owned this property for almost 10 years. We love our house, we love our neighborhood, and YOU WILL TOO!
Oak street area is a great area with the maple leaf bar, and Carrolton Station close by, and the coffee shops and restaurants just a block away its a really relaxing, fun area to be in. Never crowded with tourists, its still very centrally located in New Orleans.
Brandon was great to deal with; the house was really perfect for our event (the Oak Street PoBoy Festival). I will definitely book again.
The house is located right next to Oak Street which is full of cafes, restaurants, bars, shops and a lovely gourmet bakery. You can get the tram into the city centre (it takes 40 minutes and is a great way to see the area). The house is one side of the picture and is well maintained inside, well equipped and really comfortable. On street parking is easily available. We were a family of 8 staying and our party included two young kids, one slept on the futon provided and there was a cot/pack n play provided for the baby. The owner was slightly abrupt at times over email (there were a couple of misunderstandings) but in general helpful and efficient at responding. We had a wonderful time at the property and thoroughly recommend it as a great place to stay for other families and groups.
Our family enjoyed a perfect graduation weekend in this beautiful home. The house is exactly as described. It's on the corner, just 1 block from Oak Street with great restaurants and shops, and 4 blocks to the St Charles Streetcar that takes you to Tulane, the Audubon Zoo and the French Quarter. You enter the front door to a lovely living room, a huge dining room, then pass by the staircase into a spacious kitchen. I really enjoyed each morning on the back porch with a cup of coffee and each evening on the front porch, where we'd sip wine and watch the world go by. It's a great, quiet residential neighborhood. Upstairs are three good sized bedrooms and a full bath. Comfortable beds, ceiling fans and excellent air conditioning made for a good night's rest. Owner Brandon was very patient and helpful to this "Home Away newbie." He is quick to respond to any inquiry. He made our check in a breeze and, after our departure, promptly inspected the house and returned our security deposit. I would definitely recommend this home to anyone. Indeed, if (when?) my travels bring me back to the Big Easy, I'd definitely want to stay here again! Thanks Brandon!
This house is in such an awesome, quiet neighborhood! It's a 20 minute drive from the French Quarter, but only a few minute walk to a wonderful variety of dining spots, eclectic shops, art galleries, and great nightly music at The Maple Leaf. The house is roomy and comfortable, well maintained, and the owners are down-to-earth, genuinely nice people. We've stayed there several times and are planning our next stay!
4 couples stayed for 6 days and 5 nights and had a great time while exploring New Orleans and attending Jazzfest. A little far from the French Quarter but only 4 blocks from a streetcar on Oak & Carrillton. However, we appreciated the more residential feel as it was a little more quiet than other more "exciting" areas of the city.
The house had everything we needed and was clean. We got lucky and had great neighbors in the other side of the duplex. We enjoyed sitting on the front and back porches relaxing with them.
Overall a very enjoyable experience that we hope to replicate in the future.
We are on Oak Street y'all!!! best neighborhood in the city, with great restaurants, bars, music clubs and art galleries in the city but without the overrun of tourists ...
