Centrally located charming one bedroom / one bath apartment nestled in the heart of one of Austin's most treasured neighborhoods -- historic Aldridge Place. This apartment was built in the 1930's behind the original home from 1925. Fully updated with full kitchen, and full bath.

Enjoy the central location of this 600 square foot guesthouse that sleeps 2 (Queen). Has a full size pullout couch in the living room for children. Located 5 houses from 'The Drag' (Guadalupe Street) and only a few minutes walk to numerous restaurants, grocery stores, University of Texas, and Central Market organic grocery & park. We are located less than a mile from the hospital district (Austin Heart, Seton, St. David’s, University Medical/Brackenridge, and Dell Children’s). We are less than 2 miles from the State Capital and Downtown. Slightly over 4 miles to Zilker Park where Barton Springs and all of the major festivals occur. This quaint apartment has kept it's historic charm while adding modern comforts of carpet, free wireless access, & HD TV.

Located on public bus routes and free University of Texas Shuttle route.

No parties please. We regret that smoking is not permitted indoors.

Why Mark Feist chose Austin

This property is in Aldridge Place between the university and Hyde Park. It was Austin's first planned development with many of the homes designated as historic. One of the most notable features is Adams / Hemphill Park that runs through it's center. The history of Adams-Hemphill Park dates to 1912, when Lewis Hancock (1856-1920) donated more than two acres along Hemphill Creek for use as a park. Hancock, who served as mayor of Austin from 1895-1897, was an influential figure at the turn of the twentieth century. Developer of the Austin Country Club and the namesake of Hancock Center, Lewis Hancock donated the land for Hemphill Park when he began selling tracts of land in the Aldridge Place neighborhood in 1912.

What makes this apartment unique

The apartment has been restored to it's original state other than the addition of new carpet, electricity, and plumbing. It has all the original built ins, windows, kitchen and bath tile. This neighborhood enclave is unique in Austin and a pleasure to explore while strolling the park.

We were generally happy with the accomodations, though because it was so cold while we were there we had a bit of a hard time keeping the rooms warm. The bed was extremely comfortable and the kitchen worked for our purposes.

Great Location in Austin, Nicely furnished apartment

The apartment was located just a few blocks north of the University and a block off the main north/south roadways making it very convenient for our stay. The apartment was nicely furnished, clean and comfortable with enough of the kitchen facilities to accommodate our needs. The location was quiet and parking on the street was convenient and no problem during or stay. Though we didn't meet Mark, our host, he was responsive to our emails and text messages to let us know how to access the apartment upon arrival and to answer the few questions we had. The only issue we had was the TV reception was not very good. Considering it was election week, that was probably a plus. We would definitely stay here again.

Nice apartment in a quiet neighborhood

The apartment, situated at upper floor of a house, is perfect for two people, with enough space for storing your belongings, and has all amenities needed even for a longer stay. The apartment was perfectly clean and bright. Mark was ready to provide anything we needed and gave us some useful info on touristic attractions and restaurants. All in all it was a nice experience, Note that it is rather difficult to walk from the apartment to the city center and having a car is quite useful.

Cute little apartment.

We enjoyed our stay4 night. We didn't get a chance to let the owner know that the gas grill had little garden critters living in it, so we skipped grilling and broiled inside instead. I am sure he would have taken care of it, if we had a chance to tell him. We were happy to find a gas oven inside. Be aware, there is no fan in the hood over the oven. Being it was a gas oven, I opened the kitchen window when cooking with gas.The original bathroom and kitchen tile are very charming. The bed is very comfortable. We were able to stream itunes movies from our iphone to the apple tv inside. We were able to get into the unit a couple hours early after we cleared it with the owner. He was very accomodating. There is street parking and the owner let us park in the driveway next to the unit. The street is a "cut through" for UT students, so it can be a little busy. Use caution when backing out of driveway. The owner warned us a neighbor down the street was having a party after the UT game. They are supposed to be quiet after 10:30pm. This party was loud and lasted until 4am. Again, this was not the owner's fault at all. When we checked in, he suggested that if we were bothered by the loud party, we should call 311 and complain to the officials. He was going to call and complain if they woke him up. We ended up turning the window a/c fan 'on' and it blocked out most of the yelling on the street. Wifi was fast and we had no trouble hooking up to it. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils. I do recommend this unit.

Great location, great apartment!

We stayed in the upstairs apartment for the week and it was great! The location was perfect for what we needed (access to Camp Mabry). The apartment was nice and well furnished and the owner, Mark, was very accomodating. We liked it so much, we're staying there again next week. ;-)
