Raymond Retreat: Luxury Maine lake house rental on tranquil Panther Pond
About Mark Meister
Growing up in New England, vacations in Maine are some of my fondest memories: exploring the boardwalk at Old Orchard beach, indulging in fresh lobster and oysters by the dozen in Portland, cabin weekends, lake swims, and hiking in the summers, and skiing in the winter, Maine really has it all. As an adult, work pulled me far away from home, but I continued the tradition, planning yearly trips with family and friends. When I met my wife in 2012, she too was enchanted by the beauty of "Vacationland". Since then, we have lived in many places and adventured all over the world, but this was the one place we always came back to. We continued our yearly trips, and even hosted our wedding in Sunday River. Maine was our paradise, and we were determined to own a piece of it someday. Raymond Retreat is the realization of that dream, and we can't wait to share it with our guests.

Why Mark Meister chose Raymond
After more than 10 years of renting lake houses from Sebago to Rangeley, we saw an opportunity. We saw more and more of our friends opting out of traditional resort vacations in favor this option. With the right rental, you could have plenty of space for a large group, unique amenities, healthy, home-cooked meals, and the chance to indulge in nature and local culture, but that is only if you find the right property. We have found many lovely places to stay over the years, but with our extensive travel and corporate experience, nothing met all of our requirements, or lived up to our exceedingly high standards. What many property owners did not seem to understand was that, in today’s market, a vacation rental is not just a spare property you can use to collect an few extra dollars with little attention, it is a service you are providing to your guests. It is the thing that will make or break somebody’s hard-earned vacation, family reunion, or romantic getaway. Our goal in every decision we have made in building this property is to put together a product that provides the turn-key, relaxing, luxury experience we look for in our own vacations.

Amazing weekend at the RR, everything we expected it to be from the pictures. The “pond” is awesome - it’s more like a lake, and the water is crystal clear with a sandy bottom! Overall the process was extremely simple and the owners are very cool....definitely would stay here again.
Thank you Nick! Come back and visit us again any time.

Another great year at Raymond Retreat
This is our third year staying at this property, and Mark and Jessica have done an impressive job maintaining this property, and continue to be great hosts. This year our group of friends brought a couple of babies on the trip, and having a crib and pack and play available were very convenient.
Thanks Mark and Jess for another great year! We look forward to returning next year.
Thanks David, we can't wait to see you again next year!
My family had the best time at Raymond Retreat! We were all blown away with the beautiful interior design of the home. The amount of amenities the house possessed was unreal. There was something for everyone of all ages! My family is ready to go back and visit again. We’ve rented at many places but this one is by far the best!
Thank you so much for the wonderful review, Jessica. We would love to host you and your family again anytime!

Beautiful light - filled home on a lake
This is a first class house with beautiful views of lovely Panther Pond. All your needs are taken care of here - from a stocked pantry to a fleet of kayaks and canoes. There’s even a cord of stocked fire wood for the campfire by the lake.
The owner was very easy to communicate with and answered all our questions.
We can’t wait to return !
Thank you Rod, we are so glad to hear you enjoyed all of the amenities at the house. We would love to host you again soon!

Maine’s Sebago Lake Region, where we truly have something to offer everyone.
Our ten towns, bordering one of the state’s most beautiful lakes, form a vibrant region where visitors and residents alike enjoy an abundance of natural resources -- the unspoiled beauty of lakes and streams, the peace and tranquility of forests and mountaintops, and the charm of historic villages and one-of-a-kind landmarks.
The Indian name Sebago (Sa-bay-go) means "great stretch of water." At 8 miles wide and 10 miles long, Maine's second largest lake is a great and diverse resource. Rivers that flow into Sebago Lake provide a 43-mile length of continuous waterway for all kinds of water sports and recreation. In summer, the famous paddle-wheel steamboat Songo River Queen plies Sebago and Long Lake in Naples, for all who come to the Lakes region.
On the north shore of the lake is Sebago Lake State Park, a popular destination featuring a sandy beach, woodland walking trails, picnic areas, a playground, concessions, restrooms, boat launching and 250 campsites on 1400 acres. Camping is very big in the Sebago Lakes Region, with choices ranging from deluxe lakeside RV sites and cabins to traditional tenting on wooded lots.
Visting the Area
Between Memorial Day and Columbus Day our lakeside towns fill with visitors eager to soak up a bit of Maine charm. Begin your adventure by reserving a Lakeside Cabin or vacation home for a week or a local Motel, Inn or B&B for any number of days. When the weather is warm and sunny, go for a hike to a spectacular view, rent a boat for the day, stroll around a charming village, or sunbathe on one of our beautiful beaches. Enjoy a picnic at a scenic park, go berry-picking or explore the network of back roads that locals favor. When the day is cool or rainy, take a drive around the lake and stop to explore local museums, the Maine Wildlife Park, unique craft and gift shops and so much more. Enjoy local festivals nearly every weekend featuring great local food, midway fun, and entertainment. Night time holds a wonderful array of things to do in the Lakes Region …dining, live music, drive-in movies, summer stock theatre or just mingling with the throngs on the busy Naples Causeway. Whatever you do, you'll find that this is a place where lasting memories are made.
In other seasons, the pace of activities may slow down, but there is no lack of things to do in the Sebago Lakes Region. Fall visitors love our brilliant foliage, pumpkin and apple-picking, fly-fishing, agricultural fairs, harvest parties and end-of-summer sales. Winter visitors enjoy Seasons Greetings events, ice fishing derbies, winter carnivals, snowmobiling and community suppers. Spring visitors look forward to Maine Maple Sunday, the Naples Blues Festival, car shows, un-crowded golf courses, and ideal conditions for outdoor sports and recreation.
We are proud of all our region has to offer and hope you will enjoy your time with us. Whether you are a resident, business owner, first time or seasoned visitor or looking to relocate here, we welcome you with open arms. Plan to visit our region soon, and you will want to come back again and again, as Sebago Lakes Region is "Fun For All Seasons".
