About Owner / Raymond Sonnier

Life-long resident of Houma, LA.

Owner / Raymond Sonnier purchased this house in 2009

Why Owner / Raymond Sonnier chose Louisiana

We chose to select this area as we felt there was a demand for people wanted to come to the area for many recreational opportunities and there are very limited accommodations in this area. We are one of the nicer rentals available on the bayou.

Nice enough for Mom with anytime fishing for the kids.

Our family summer vacation to Louisiana was a special treat for my Dad, as he took a special interest in the area when he was working with some guys from there. He is a fisherman at heart, and there is plenty of fishing in Chauvin! We took the whole crew...parents, siblings and grandchildren. We found the house well equipped with everything we needed for cooking. There was enough sleeping space to keep us all comfortable. It was a life-saver having a washer and dryer so I didn't have to pack away any nasty wet clothes.

The back porch overlooking the bayou was my absolute favorite. Early morning coffee overlooking the water was a peaceful start to a crazy day! The boys were able to roll out of bed and start fishing, which they loved! I didn't have to worry about entertaining them, since they were set for the week with a couple of fishing poles.

While we were in the area specifically because of the reputation for fishing.....we found plenty of other things to keep the crew busy. Swamp tours, plantation homes and two day trips (New Orleans and Avery Island) were all interesting activities. We certainly could have used more than the week we had available on this trip.

Beautiful Home

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time here. The view was amazing. We were able to fish off the back porch and enjoyed quiet mornings watching the fish jump and the alligators swim by. We were just a little over an hour away from New Orleans. Which was perfect since being in the hot city was not what we were looking for. We were able to enjoy the city during the day and come back here for a quiet evening. Our girls loved fishing off the back porch for crabs. We tied some chicken on a string and caught several blue crabs. The house, itself, was perfect. It had Wifi and everything inside has been updated. It accomodated our large family perfectly with a large kitchen and living area. We highly recommend staying here and would stay here again. The quiet bayous and wonderful people were a great representation of Louisiana. We loved this part of Louisiana and would love to come back. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay here.

Had an AMAZING time and mr Raymond even let us follow him out on our boat as our guide since we weren't familiar with the area. This is my second time staying here and we will definitely be back.

We stayed on May 26-June 1, 2017. Camp is in a good location and is very close to the boat launch. Great fishing in this area. I would highly recommend this place as a get away.

Nice house!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at this house!! The house was very nice, clean, and stocked with necessities. We traveled with teenage boys for a graduation trip, and the boys would go out back and fish in the canal anytime they wanted! I would definitely recommend this house for a fishing get-away!!
