A skier's dream. Winter Walk Unit A is located less than 1/3 mile from the base of the Winter Park Ski Resort. Walk or catch the free shuttle (runs every 10 minutes & is just around the corner) to the ski lifts. Forget noisy 'condo-land.' Winter Walk Unit A is not part of a complex, but is 1/2 of a duplex - a private and unique 'home away from home.' With privacy, location, comfort and rental rates cannot be beat!

Three levels of living offer lots of privacy and comfort. The ground floor entry level offers a mudroom with ample storage for equipment, a 'spa room' including a 6 person private indoor hot tub, a sauna, half-bath, separate shower, and washer/dryer. Nice!

The main level (2nd level) has an open floor plan kitchen/living/ dining room area with vaulted ceilings, moss rock gas fireplace, 37' flat screen cable TV/VCR/DVD, recliner sofa, recliner chair, huge wraparound front deck with BBQ gas grill, lots of windows providing light and great views of the ski slopes. Off the main living area is the master bedroom (queen bed) with private bath and deck. Stainless kitchen appliances, a spice and condiment cabinet and a huge country dining table with ample seating make for easy cooking and memorable dinners with family and friends.

Upstairs (3rd level) is the 2nd queen bedroom with direct access to the shared bath (the tub/shower and toilet area are separated from the double-sink area for privacy) with private porch. Also on this level is the 3rd bedroom 'bunkroom' with a bunk bed (full on bottom and twin on top). The bunkroom is always a favorite with its unique design, including vaulted ceiling, sliding solid wood panel doors that close off a 'window' to the living/dining area below, Cable TV/VCR/DVD, its own sink, and a 'secret' loft area accessible by ladder with a queen futon bed for extra sleeping (loft not recommended for very small children). The bunkroom also hosts a large picture window and its own small deck with views of the ski area.

We also have a beautiful wraparound trex deck out front spanning both Units A & B. Chairs and a dining table are provided, but during the winter months, there's usually too much snow to use them! Spring time and summer are another story. Outdoor dining table and seating for 8 are provided as are lounge chairs and sun shielding market umbrellas. Perfect for bbq's and dining al fresco.

So what's Winter Walk really like? Think vintage 'ski lodge' with all the modern conveniences you can think of. You'll find this to be a comfortable, cozy, family friendly abode geared towards fun and functionality. Our unit's neutral decor compliments the natural wood windows, six panel wood doors, and updated appliances. The parking spaces directly in front of the unit allow room for up to 4 cars with 2 spaces being covered. A large shared yard (with unit B) is out back.

Located in Old Town Winter Park, just across the railroad tracks and down the hill from the Winter Park Resort Base Area, Winter Walk Unit A is walking distance from both the Winter Park Rental Shop & Alpine Sun for ski rentals. Best of all, we're close to the slopes, a precious and rare location in the Winter Park area. Walk 1-2 minutes to the Park 'n 'Ride free shuttle bus (departures every 5 minutes) which takes you directly to the WP Base Area in less than 4 minutes with no stops in between. Or, skip the shuttle & take the quiet and scenic walk to the Winter Park Base Area lifts (including Gemini, Zephyr & Arrow lifts) in about 10-15 minutes. Please be aware, however, this is not a ski in/ski out property. The most direct route for walking to the ski area is a steep, snow covered path that crosses an active railroad track and may not be appropriate for small children or non-acclimatized adults. If your priorities tend towards adventure, skiing first tracks and fresh powder over the thread counts on your bed linens, then this is the place for you!

About Joe Richardson

Our 2nd home is owned by myself and my sister's families. We are avid skiers and mountain bikers and love coming to Winter Park in both winter and summer. Our homes are in Boulder which, as the crow flies, is only 40 miles away. There, we live, work, send our kids to school, and ALWAYS look forward to our next trip to Winter Walk.

My family has skied Winter Park since 1980 when we moved to Colorado. After looking for years, we found Winter Walk in 2000 and realized it had everything we were looking for in a 2nd home. We've had so many great memories made there - we are happy to share our favorite place in Colorado so you can make your own memories for a lifetime.

Location, location, location! Winter Walk is one of the few properties close enough to the Winter Park base area to accommodate a large group and still have easy access. Our unique and classic 'ski lodge' ambiance will enchant skiers and non-skiers alike. Many of our guests come back year after year. Try it and you'll see why.

Spring Vacation

Very clean - plenty of towels.

The kitchen is well-stocked with various pans, crockpot, nice dishes.

Our 13-year-old grandson loved the loft.

The fireplace did its job - kept the entire place warm. We never turned up a thermostat.

WiFi good, easy to access. Televisions and access good.

The access to the ski areas excellent.

My only negative is the mattresses - much too soft for us - even our daughter and husband.

Overall we had a great 5 days. Of course, 45" of snow coming down certainly added.

Owner's Response: Patti - glad to hear your family had a good stay. You hit the bull's eye on snow fall. That's the most we've gotten in a single month in many years. As far as the mattresses go, sorry they felt too soft. Ironically, they are new pillow top models that have been quite popular. After putting them in, we liked them so much we bought one for our home and are sleeping better than ever. each his own. Thanks again for your input.

Comfortable and Close to the Lift

We had a great experience here. The three stories and loft ensured that everyone had their own space. Everything was clean and tidy. The kitchen was nicely supplied but you need a whisk! lol The hot tub was enjoyed by everyone.

It is about a 3 minute easy stroll to the bus stop which takes you to the Zephyr chair. We only walked to the base once but it took less than 10 minutes, and only had one short steep section.

Owner's Response: James - so glad you enjoyed your stay! As you saw, the proximity to the slopes is fantastic. Sorry about the lack of a whisk. We had one that got discombobulated and forgot to replace it. As of tonight, a new one will be in the kitchen so next visit, you can whisk away!

Winter Walk is located in a section of Winter Park known as 'Old Town'. It is one of the original neighborhoods bordering the ski area. It provides 'walk to the lift' convenience, while maintaining a sense of small neighborhood friendliness. You can take a walk around the block or up to the ski area to sample some of the shops and restaurants in the base area.

We recommend Doc's Roadhouse for pub fare, Lime for Mexican (great happy hour), and the Cheeky Monk for an upscale brew pub drinking and dining atmosphere. The free ice skating rink and tubing hill are right outside, so kids can stay entertained while you relax with a drink and dinner.
