Overview

Egton with Newland Barn Rental Photos and Description

Stunning, contemporary 'get away' perfectly located for Southern Lake District

If your wish is luxury lakes without the tourists, chic to champion over chintz, local knowledge without the insularity, friendliness without over familiarity then all will be fulfilled at Coal Yeat.

NEW FOR 2015 - SKY TV with full package inc SPORTS and MOVIES and GAMES ROOM with POOL, TABLE TENNIS and DARTS.

Imaginatively arranged using contemporary open plan design Coal Yeat Cottages are ideal for families or couples holidaying together, or if both utilised together they offer a unique group environment. The highlight for both 'Yan' and 'Tyan' is the breathtaking outlook over the much loved Lakeland fells.

Local Amienties: We are situated on the southern fringe of the Lake District National Park in pure isolation betwixt the festival town of Ulverston and the village of Lowick within the Crake valley. Less than three miles in one direction finds all the amenities of the popular market town of Ulverston with its wide choice of eclectic shops, inns and restaurants, a championship golf course, sports centre with swimming pool and gym. Two miles the other finds the Crake Valley winding from the foot of Coniston Water through Lowick with it‘s 14th century coaching inn, old Lakeland working bobbin villages, fertile fields and woodland until it reaches the shores of Morecambe bay.

Ideal for walkers, bikers and escapees this is rural Cumbria at it’s peak. Coniston Water 4 miles and Lake Windermere 6 miles are close enough for a quick dip (we’ll let you into the locals secrets and you’ll discover secret swimming coves in true Swallows and Amazon’s style), Grizedale Forest Enterprise Centre, 6miles offers unique off road trials for bikers and walkers through wood and stone sculptures scattered amongst the trees.

We are ideally located close enough to the national park to enjoy its unparalled beauty and character but also within the Furness Peninsula which offers subtle diversions from the associated bustle of the more frequented Lakes hot spots. The medieval priory village of Cartmel, home to the most picturesque meets on the UK race calender (May and August bank holidays), Haverthwaite Steam Engines and Lakeside Steam Cruises, Holker Hall and Gardens and the Victorian seaside town of Grange are all within 30 mins drive.

Distances-

* Coniston - 10 mins to the foot of the water, 30 mins to the village

* Cartmel - 15 mins to the medieval priory village

* Windermere - 12 mins to the southern tip of Windermere and Lakeside the departure point for Steam cruises

Would like to recommend Yan to anyone seeking a lovely quiet location. Fantastic for children with a well equipped games room. Had a lovely 4 night stay and look forward to returning sometime soon.

Luxury in the middle of nowhere

  • 4 of 5

A lovely property. Top spec with fitted kitchen and an en-suite master bedroom. Full Sky package, DVD's and board games. An adjoining Games Room with pool table, table tennis and darts. 200m from the nearest main road so really peaceful.Clean and well maintained and the owner was on-hand and made us feel very welcome. I would highly recommend this cottage. We used it as a base for a weekend of cycling around Coniston Water and Windermere. Too far from the nearest pub which shuts at 20:45hrs anyway so stock up with booze!

Lovely relaxing dog friendly break

  • 5 of 5

My partner 2 dogs and I have just returned from a 4 night stay in Yan. What a beautiful cottage and location!

On arrival we were delighted to find a lovely welcome card, cake, flowers, wine and fresh eggs. Such a lovely thoughtful touch.

The owner Emma came over to greet us and to give us an overview of the amenities and surrounding area. Emma is lovely and was a fantastic host. Our dogs were really happy to make a new friend too! Emma's lovely dog Milo.

The cottage is spacious, extremely well equipped and spotlessly clean. The views are amazing, including the array of resident animals.

If you are looking for lovely accommodation in a remote, quiet, picturesque spot, yet not too far from tourist attractions, then Coal Yeat Cottages are the place to stay. The area is very safe for the dogs too, which is a priority for us. We would be more than happy to return and have recommended to family and friends.

Thank you for a lovely stay.

Perfect

  • 5 of 5

Stayed whilst on business in Barrow. Coal Yeat made a wonderful alternative to the usual hotels, providing a much more relaxed and homely atmosphere. We also found there where more pigs for eating up our scraps than we usually find in our hotels!

Lovely setting and very peaceful with lovely views over the valley.

Highly Recommended!

Owner's Response: Glad you gave the pigs a treat, they love it! Thanks for the review. We've had a few contractors stay with us and it's not as far from Barrow as it looks and you are right, Coal Yeat beats any of the local hotels. Hopefully we can welcome you back next time you are in town

Superb cottage with stupendous view

  • 5 of 5

Emma was a great host and added lots of nice touches like cooking oil, herbs , welcome pack with eggs bread milk etc that just added to the homely atmosphere of the place. Picture perfect view of old man of coniston from the window. Superbly kitted out so cooking was easy. No scrabbling round for utensils pans washing liquid etc. It was all there. Spacious ensuite bathroom with great shower. Much appreciated after a run in the hills. My five year old son loved the games room and toy tractor and watching the pigs hens and ducks. Walks from the door and nearby woods make perfect play area. Close proximity to coniston and other attractions like grizedale. It's clear this place has been very thoughtfully renovated to make this a really relaxing and special place. Thank you. Highly recommended.
