Beautiful, well maintained canal front home at the end of Big Pine Key. Surrounded by the Key Deer National Refuge. Wake up to Key Deer in your back yard. Only 30 miles from Key West and Duval Street. Concrete, step-down dock. Bring your boat. Great fishing and Diving. Bahia Honda Beach close by. Comfortably sleeps 6 plus two full sized sofas in the living room. New hi definition TV's, cable, Wi-Fi. Central air, wrap around deck. The canal leads out to Pine Chanel. Just a short scenic boat ride to the ocean or the Gulf. Lots of uninhabited islands to explore. Rent a kayak and have it delivered to you. Bike rental available as well. Miles of bike paths to explore. The island also has a park with tennis courts, basketball courts and a playground. Explore the Blue Hole on the island. An old rock quarry dug for the Flagler railroad that has turned into a habitat.
We like to think of this house and its location as "fancy camping". You are right in the middle of a deer preserve. There is actually a wooded area right across the street.
The house is located on the northern most tip of Big Pine Key. It is remote enough to be surrounded by uninhabited islands that are just a short boat ride or kayak away. Despite that, shopping and groceries are just a short drive from the house.
We absolutely loved the place! Rental was very clean, had everything we could have asked for! They Key deer were amazing to see and the Bahia Honda was a short drive away with the most amazing beaches. I would recommend this place to anyone!
We moved after a week from an efficiency at the Big Pine Key Fishing Lodge. There were fifteen of us that go down the same week every week. It was a very busy week, between socializing and fishing. When we arrived at the house we were instantly impressed. This beautifully decorated and well appointed home welcomed us with open arms. We enjoyed the solitude. Our only visitors were the Key Deer who wandered through the yard several times a day. We even saw a baby who still had its spots. The kitchen had everything you need and more. You have to pass a Winn Dixie every time you left or returned to the property, They sell fresh fish and wonderful steaks.There are several spots to fish nearby if you don't have a boat. We never had any interaction with the owners. Judging from their taste in decor I am sure they are very nice people. The confirmation letter addressed everything and we hade no issued where we needed assistance. We wikk definately stay again and refer Captain D's Hideout to our friends. We had two weeks in Florida. One week in Orlando and one week in Big Pine at Captain D's Hideout. What a massive difference this house was to the place we stayed at the first week.
The house and garden were just as described on the site. Often photos can flatter a property and then when you arrive you are disappointed. We arrived in the dark but even then you could tell that the place was beautiful.
You can tell that that house is a much loved place that the owners also use to retreat to. The place was full of beautiful little touches. It's a house that has a lived in and loved feel. We spent loads of time on the porch just relaxing and listing to the breeze rustling the palm trees.
The Key Dear were delightful and never failed to turn up in the evening.
We had very few problems. Leo was very helpful and attentive for the two minor issues that we had.
We would definitely come back if we lived in the States. If we're back in Florida one day we'd love to come back.
From the minute we walked up the steps to the back porch we felt the biggest sense of relaxation. We totally loved our stay here. We met several neighbors and had some local friends over for dinner a few times. The house is just as described and then some. The back porch is where we spent most of our time if we weren't on our boat. We loved the back yard and the sounds of the palm trees in the breeze. Was just perfect for us and exactly what we needed after staying a month in Key West! The kitchen has everything you need to cook with, the bed was very comfortable. There are two rooms but we only used one. Nicely decorated, premium cable, and very clean. The owner was great and always responded promptly. If you are looking to really sink into the keys, this is your place! We made several trips out to the Contents, which are just beautiful. We really enjoyed getting out on the water and exploring all the different areas. Was really hard to leave....but we get to come back next year! The property was consistent with the description and the great reviews. Very clean and well appointed. We brought bikes, Kayaks and a 14 foot Jon boat which were all good choices. The waters are shallow, but with charts there are plenty of awesome places to explore, we enjoyed going right out of the canal following the markers to get in the channel between big pine and Howe.
The palm shrouded back deck is very quiet and relaxing, we ended each day here. Happy hours are fun and cheap, our favorite was KiKi's sand bar on Little Torch, but the Bistro and Springers on Big Pine were also good. A short walk to the West end of the Island where the neighborhood has a common area offers a great sunset each evening and a chance to chat with other visitors and residents. We went out reef fishing with Captain Markus Hot Rod Charters on Big Pine and caught 18 great Yellow Tail Snapper, several over 5 pounds. We appreciated the full service cable and DVR, we did movie nights frequently.
The Keys are so laid back and the people are extremely friendly, definitely a great place to go and unwind. Thanks Leo, you have a great place!
I couldn't have been happier with the home and the location. The home was exactly as presented. Clean and cozy. The "Key deer" would visit every morning and every evening. It is a nice peaceful neighborhood. The only down fall to the area was the ocean access, very shallow waters.
Your stay is right in the middle is a deer preserve and yet all your needed conveniences are nearby.

CHECK-IN TIME is AFTER 3 P.M. EST AND CHECKOUT is 10 A.M. EST. NO Early Check-in or late checkout. Arrangements may be made in advance for such if it does not interfere with another renters check in or check out.

DAMAGE/RESERVATION DEPOSIT - A reservation deposit of $300 is required. This must be received within five (5) days of booking the reservation. The deposit automatically converts to a security/damage deposit upon arrival. The deposit is NOT applied toward rent; however, it is fully refundable within (14) days of departure, provided the following provisions are met.
• No damage is done to unit or its contents, beyond normal wear and tear.
• No charges are incurred due to contraband, pets or collection of rents or services rendered during the stay.
• All debris, rubbish and discards are placed in trash, and soiled dishes are placed in the dishwasher and cleaned.
• All keys are left in the lock box and unit is left locked.
• All charges accrued during the stay are paid prior to departure.
• No linens are lost or damaged.
• NO early check-in or late checkout.
• The renter is not evicted by the owner (or representative of the owner), or the local law enforcement.
CANCELLATIONS - A sixty (60) day notice is required for cancellation. Cancellations that are made more than sixty (60) days prior to the arrival date will incur no penalty. Cancellations or changes that result in a shortened stay, that are made within 60 days of the arrival date, forfeit the reservation deposit. Cancellation or early departure does not warrant any refund of rent.
MONTHLY RESERVATION CANCELLATIONS – Monthly renters must cancel ninety (90) days prior to check-in. Monthly renters who make a change that results in a shortened stay must be made at least
