We truly loved our weekend at the Kegelman's Log Home. It's everything you expect in a mountain cabin in the woods (musty smells included) and much more. The Kegelman's were very quick to reply and easy to deal with, flexible with check-in and check-out times. The place was clean, the kitchen supplies were very adequate, the bedrooms were roomy, the extra space in the loft was a surprise and our favorite was the deck and hot tub. When we weren't in town, we lived on the deck. We also really liked Bear Creek Lake Community. It's such a great user-friendly lake, we enjoyed the use of the kayaks. As if there isn't enough to do in Jim Thorpe, there is plenty to do right there in the community. We left wishing the weekend was much longer. We will absolutely consider a return trip. The Leathermans
The cabin was quaint and decorated as if at a resort lodge. The sleeping quarters were if you were staying in a high priced Bed and Breakfast. An additional treat was that we were always visited by wildlife (deer and one morning wild turkeys). The jacussi was always inviting and used almost every night.
Day times were spent on the lake. Fishing in the morning, at the beach or the spacious pool in the afternoons. On one occasion we spent an afternoon in Jim Thorpe visiting the rail station and the shops.
The restaurants were diverse, reasonably priced and excellent cuisine.
The owners Jim and Natalie were always available (via phone or e-mail) though there was little need to contact them.
It's too late now, but I should have booked two weeks, not one.
Me and my boyfriend stayed here a few weeks ago just the two of us. We really enjoyed our stay. The community the house is in, is such a nice and pretty community. Everyone was SO friendly, greeting and waving everytime we passed someone. We are not used to this, it was a nice change from the NY attitude we are used to. I could SO get used to living somewhere like this. We are in our mid 20's. I have never stayed in a house on vacation before so it was definitely an experience for us two, and It was so nice and we REALLY enjoyed our time together. The house is so pretty, better than I expected. the pictures on the website look adorable and I loved it anyway, but when we got there, it is much bigger than I thought. and the little private hallway to the master bedroom and bathroom was AMAZING. didn't know it was like that. The hot tub was also a plus, we spent every night in there talking and just enjoying the quietness and peacefulness of the area. This was a perfect vacation for me a nd my boyfriends first official vacation away(we stayed for a week!!!) On the last day, we just didn't want to go home. It felt like we lived there, you really do feel so cozy and at home. I love the log cabin décor and everything about this house. The bikes could definitely use some updating(tires no air, only in one. but you could easily rent a bike in town.) Would DEFINITELY come back here in the near future. The alpine bakery makes THE best egg sandwiches for breakfast, we also liked the tommys subs little joint. we did whitewater rafting, horseback riding, hiking, bicycling. All in all, SUCH a relaxing and week and the house was JUST what I was looking for.Thank you so much Natalie and James. They were so accommodating and would answer within minutes of a text I sent them. LOVE THIS HOUSE
Comfy, cozy little place in a quiet, but not remote area. The convenience store down the road was a real plus! We loved the well maintained hot tub as well. Perfect for a relaxing weekend with friends!
Spent our third summer vacation in a row there and it was fantastic as usual! Cozy place in a beautiful location with all the right amenities for fun as well as relaxation. The owners are always friendly and responsive.
This is my third or fourth time staying at the Kegelman's Log home and I absolutely love it. Its so quiet and relaxing, the house is clean and well taken care of. The hot tub is absolutely sensational. Natalie Kegelman is a delight on the phone and in emails, always willing to answer questions. I really hope to keep this tradition going for many years to come. Thank you so much Natalie!
