Princeville House Rental Photos and Description

Remodeled house, 3 Bedroom, 2.5 Bathroom, 2 covered lanai, huge private backyard

Tropical Paradise in Princeville’s most desirable neighborhood tucked between golf course and the ocean steps to the Queens Bath. Enjoy the ocean breeze and listen to rustle of the waves! Very peaceful, safe and private location!

Completely renovated and newly decorated spacious 2-level house with 3 bedrooms, sunroom (can be used as 4th bedroom) and office-den. Comfortably accommodates 2 to 8 persons.

One of the largest lot in Princeville. Private landscaped backyard features mountain views, coconut palms, tropical fruit trees and flowers throughout as well as outdoor shower. Perfect for barbecues and outdoor games, or to just lay back on the hammock! Two covered furnished lanais to relax on, rain or shine!

Fully equipped residence with new island style indoor/outdoor furniture, portable air conditioner, luxurious 100% cotton bedding, bath and beach towels, as well as plenty of outdoor gear! 24-hour caretaker on call.

Unbeatable location:

The house is located in the best neighborhood of Princeville on very quiet and safe street, and there are many beaches in the vicinity:

1. Queens Bath, there are couple protected pools, not really a beach although very beautiful (trail head is just steps from the house),

2. Pali Ke Kua Beach, golden sand, clear blue water, perfect for snorkeling and swimming - 10 min walk through the Golf Course and Pali Ke Kua complex to get to wide paved path to the beach;

3. Puu Poa Beach near St. Regis Hotel, sandy beach surrounded by reef with a variety of tropical fish and corals, good for snorkeling - 20-min walk through the Golf Course and bamboo grove,

4. Anini Beach, reef protected, perfect for wave haters - 10-min drive or 40-min easy walk by trail, and

5. Hanalei Bay, the best beach on the island - just 10 min drive.

About owner

We are a family with 3 kids (8, 10 and 19 years old) from Vancouver, Canada

owner purchased this house in 2011

Why owner chose Kauai

We fell in love with this house and its location the minute we saw it. After we bought it we made extensive renovations. Our whole family loves coming here as often as we can.

What makes this house unique

The house is in a unique location, which allows you to hear the waves and feel the ocean breeze.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This vacation home is located in a quiet neighborhood in the north of Kauai in the town of Princeville. It is a lovely house with everything we needed or wanted for our family vacation. There is room for children (and adults) to play outdoors, a BBQ grill and plenty of seating and eating space both indoors and out. We found the kitchen well equipped, you just have to look around in the drawers and cupboards for what you need. The beach equipment was an additional perk that we all enjoyed. The home is bright with lots of windows to capture the breeze. We found that we drove quite a bit to the places we wanted to visit but the island isn't big, so in a couple of hours, maximum, you can get anywhere you want to. There is a nice grocery store at the entrance to the subdivision and other shops, which was very convenient. We enjoyed our stay at this house very much and the owner was very pleasant to work with.

10 Day vacation on the island

  • 4 of 5

I must say the location of this home is excellent. Home was very spacious. Beautiful downstairs shower. Plenty of towels, pans and kitchen utensils. Washer and dryer were excellent- used them almost daily. Note that the listing says "pool" but it is a kiddy pool. Humidity was very rough so air conditioning would have been nice.

Just what we needed!!

  • 5 of 5

The home was everything we were anticipating and needing for our vacation. We absolutely loved the peaceful neighborhood!! We were able to take walks and bike rides around the neighborhood, along the golf course, to Hideaway Beach, Queen's Bath, and a wonderful coffee shop.

The kitchen is equipped with everything we needed to prepare meals there. Still no coffee grinder, but we got that done at Costco prior to going to the house so thanks to previous review for the heads up.

The bed upstairs in the master bedroom is very soft - just be aware if you need a firm mattress. The portable A/C worked great in one of the downstairs bedroom as well.

It was great to have the beach towels and snorkel gear available for use!

We would definitely recommend this home to our friends!

Great location!

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I stayed here for 2 1/2 weeks in February. There are some changes to the house which are not reflected in the pictures. This house has had some thought put into making guests feel at home. I would only suggest adding a coffee grinder in the kitchen. Any issues we had the caretaker attempted to address as soon as possible. I would also address in the arrival instructions how food needs to be stored as some people who have never traveled or lived in tropical areas do not know that they must keep food items in sealed bags, containers and items spoil quickly. We had problems with cockroaches. The owner dealt with this promptly but, this was our first time in traveling to the islands since 1973, that this has been a problem.

We loved this place

  • 5 of 5

The location is just wonderful. Just a block or so to the ocean to watch the whales and the waves. The very quiet neighborhood was so peaceful. It was just what we were looking for. The large back yard was a bonus. The house had everything we needed and more. We loved the two patios, the barbeque and the hammock.

It was perfect for we 3 couples.

Our only complaint is, the lovely wicker couches were rather uncomfortable for sitting for any length of time and judging by the mattresses in them would not have been very comfortable for adults to sleep on either.

Princeville house

  • 3 of 5

Our family of four rented this Princeville home for a week in June. The location is excellent and the home was nicely furnished & reasonably well stocked. However, I gave the home only three stars due to it being falsely listed as having air conditioning when it effectively did not. What the home actually has is a one-room console air conditioning unit, boxed & stored in the garage.

If you’re willing to go to the effort of actually installing the unit, the owner provided instructions that required you to first unbox the 55 lb. unit, carry it to the single room of your choice, wash the reusable air filter and then jerry rig the flexible vent into a window that is not of the matching size. I don’t think it is reasonable to require house guests who are on vacation to do all this work.

It turned out that even after I did all the installation work, the AC was in fact broken. After spending several unproductive hours on the phone trouble shooting the problem with the home’s local caretaker, he came to the house & confirmed that it was broken. However, despite my subsequent follow-up calls & email exchanges with the owner, she was not able to either repair or replace the AC during our entire stay. Note- even if this AC unit had been working, it is still only rated to cool one 300 SQ FT. room or only about 15% of the house’s total area.

Since my youngest daughter has asthma, we only considered rentals that provided air-conditioning throughout the house - as was the case with our prior week’s rental on Kauai’s south shore. If the Princeville house had not advertised that it included AC, we would not have rented it. While I would much rather have had AC, I subsequently asked the owner for a modest 20% refund. Even after all this, the owner somehow felt justified in countering with a 15% refund.

Bottom line- if you require AC (this was early June and the temperature was consistently in the mid-80’s with high humidity), I recommend you rent a different home.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. I am glad to hear that you like the location of the house and its furniture and really sorry that AC happened to break during your 1 week stay when unusually hot days were. I have replaced broken AC to a new one within a week (as fast as possible on the island). I have never advertised central AC and specifically said that the house has portable AC. By the way, the vast majority of the houses in Princeville do not have any kind of AC; however, I keep a portable unit in the house to insure that my guests always have a pleasant stay even in the rare hot days. The house also has ceiling fans in all rooms, window fans and attic solar fans, so actually guests rarely used the portable AC.

Wonderfully relaxing & complete w/ Roosters

  • 5 of 5

We arrived 1 am Sunday night, six of us, including my 86 year old parents and my wife's 82 year old mother. The house is great for the elderly/handicapped, two bedrooms and a sun room sleeping area downstairs. At around sunrise, we learned there were roosters nearby. "Cockadoodle do". (Did not know feral roosters and chickens, with little chicks, were so plentiful on Kauai. And so brilliantly colored. I miss them.)

Onto the house -- very comfortable and well appointed. The home is located in a golf community, groceries are 10 minutes away. Be sure to enjoy tapas at an outstanding restaurant, Bar'cuda about 20 minutes away. And watch humpback whales breach from the lighthouse up the highway.

We absolutely recommend Irina and her lovely home near Princeville. (Irina, we recommend the couch that was in the sunroom.)
