We own a small local Law Firm and love to travel.
Shari Zwirn purchased this house in 2004
We love this location for it's privacy as well as its proximity to the actual beach. We have small children and love that we are so close that we can hear the baby monitor from the beach.
We are actually ON the beach. As well as that we are so close to the Clearwater Pier as well as Clearwater Marina and so many great places to eat and see.
Myself and family loved this beach home and ocean view so much that no one wanted to leave to do anything else, the water was crystal clear perfect temperature and the waves were different every day, lets not forget about the daily dolphin sightings. We arrived late and found the home with lights and AC on, the home itself was clean and supplied with everything we needed. What was also nice was the home was located in a residential area quiet, with supermarket just a short drive anyway, so much better than hotel. The owner was very helpful and accommodating would definitely give 5 stars and would return. JP Massachusetts
We were four adults and two children and stayed at this property for a week in December. It could not have been better for a family vacation. It has easy access to and from Tampa International Airport (30-40 minutes depending on traffic). The best thing about the house was it's direct access to the beach and the Gulf from the sitting room and patio. The main bedroom on the second floor opens to a deck overlookng the beach. The hypnotic sound of the waves was everywhere. At certain times we would close the windows and use the central A/C against the humidity. From the front door there was immediate access to a clean and heated pool, and the children easily shifted between the pool and the beach.
The house was clean, well-furnished, and well-equipped with wi-fi, games, and cable tv. There was plenty of kitchenware and all the appliances, showers, etc. worked well. We made good use of the charcoal grill. When we needed service or had a question, the owner was very responsive. On Christmas day we discovered one of the toilets was splashing, and the owner had a repairman at the property the next day.
Belleair Beach is a pleasant area of low-rises, and does not have the high-rises and commercial clutter of nearby Clearwater. We liked the Bonefish Grill, ten-minute drive away in Belleair Bluffs (reservastions needed for large groups), and were disappointed in the Spanish-themed "Columbia" Restaurant two miles north in Clearwater. There is easy access to supermarkets and other shopping within ten-twenty minutes by car. We also chartered a fishing boat from "Dos Amigos" for a 4-hour trip out of Clearwater. We caught enough gray snappers and porgies to make two dinners.
The only unpleasant part was a sudden attack of sand fleas on the beach one afternoon. At that time we could take refuge at the pool until the winds shifted.
We would highly recommend this villa for a maximum of four adults and two children.
We enjoyed our stay. Very clean,Plenty of room for 4 adults 2 teens and 3 children everything we needed. We loved being so close to the beach.
Have a lot of mixed feelings about this property after spending a week here. First off, the location is great....right on beach, water is steps from the back door. Unit was clean and ready when we arrived. However, it is located in BELLEAIR BEACH....not sure why listed on VRBO as INDIAN SHORES/INDIAN BEACH which is several miles south. House is older (70's vintage), mostly in good shape but could use some work. Kitchen fully eqipped....except for fact that none of the available plates/dishes/bowls are microwave safe. Had to buy paper plates and bowls from local grocery so could heat/warm/reheat in the microwave. Lots of beach chairs, beach towels and beach toys though which was nice. Had to contact the owner for a few ques, she was very easily accesible and responsive to our needs. Listing of sleeping arrangements somewhat misleading....would not consider a worn mattress simply slid underneath a bunk bed as a "trundle bed". That bedroom was quite small, the other two were quite adequate. Poor feedback from owner about location of necessities like grocery store and coffee shop....asked very specific ques, got very vague and pretty much useless reply. Confusing array of electronic components (TV, DVD, DVR/cable) with no instructions on how to use or how all components interfaced....simple sheet of basic operating instructions would have been nice. Lastly, arriving at night found the unit completely in the dark....porch light not turned on, all inside lights off, luckily smart phones have flashlight feature. An OK stay, doubt we'd return, too many other nicer beachfront units in area for same or lower price.
I would rate this home at 4.5 stars. The view is unbelievable and the gulf is out your back door. You can't find a better location! It would be a 5 star home had there not been a couple of minor inconveniences such as us having to buy hand soap and paper towels for the kitchen and a box of Kleenex for the downstairs bathroom the first day we were there. These are minor inconveniences but none the less, inconveniences. The bedrooms are all upstairs and the steps are fairly steep - just a bit of an FYI for those that have difficulty with stairs. The master bedroom is amazing with gulf views, king bed, large bathroom and deck. The second bedroom with a bathroom has a full bed so it was a bit of a squeeze for my taller son-in-law. A queen bed would make this a great room! The 3rd bedroom has no windows but worked for my teen daughter. This might not be suitable for all people, though. The kitchen is small but we made it work by using the charcoal grill outside. It would have been nice to have more dishes (plates, bowls) that we could use in the microwave for reheating food and sandwiches. They have melamine dishes that get extremely hot in the microwave and are not recommended in it. It is a townhome, not a single home, but that was not an issue as it was very quiet and we had no neighbors while we were there. The pool is a great addition and we had it to ourselves. There were 4 adults and 2 teens and it was a good fit. Any more people and I think we would have felt crowded. This is my personal opinion and may not bother some people. We would definitely rent this home again and the minor inconveniences are not a deterrent for the great location. And by the way, Shari is great to work with. She called to see if we made it there OK and contacted us to let us know that service people were going to be there. Thank you for letting us rent your home. It was hard to leave and I sure hope we get a chance to return some day.
This house has the perfect location...right on the beach. It's in a residential area in Belleair so the beach, although not necessarily closed to the public, seems very private and was never crowded while we were there. We did drive north and visit Clearwater and we couldn't believe how crowded the beach was there. It was so nice to spend the day shopping and then go back to our quiet beach house. We felt very safe in the area. In fact, the sheriff would drive along the beach several times a day. Our 6 & 2 year old boys LOVED the beach and the pool. The pool is very nice. It has jets you can turn on in the shallow end and multi-colored lights you can turn on at night which is very neat. You do share the pool with 4 other units, but most of the time we were the only people using it.
The house is very nice. It is a town house, so yes it is only HALF of the house that you rent. Another review said that the listing was misleading in this regard, but I certainly didn't think so. I could tell from the pictures that it was only one side of the house. Nevertheless, the 9 people in my party (5 adults, 2 kids, 2 babies) had plenty of space and we were all comfortable.
The interior was clean and had actually been updated and differed from the pictures slightly, but only in good ways. It had new paint, dining set, and bedding. We had tons of beach towels, bath towels, hand towels, hand soap, and laundry detergent. We went out and bought toilet paper before we realized there was a whole package of it in the laundry room closet. The kitchen is complete with all appliances, dishes, utensils, and pots and pans. It was a tight fit for my mother, sister and I to cook a few meals together but we managed. Other things that were already in the house were matches and lighter fluid for the charcoal grill, trash bags, ziplock bags, dish soap, dishwasher detergent, sponges and dishrags, dish towels, salt and pepper and sugar. Oh, and Shari the owner had jars of chocolate candy out on the kitchen counter which the kids thoroughly enjoyed!
The only problem we experienced during our stay was the lack of lighting outside at night. We arrived after dark and had to use our phones to see the keypad to unlock the door. When I asked Shari about this she said the lights were not working and a handyman would be there within the week to fix them and no one ever came. It didn't spoil our stay though, and we highly recommend this house. We were sad to leave.
