About Kerry, Admin Asst or Marcia, Owner

Brian is an Architect that specializes in Christian based Alcohol & Drug Rehab Centers all around the United States.

Marcia is the horse specialist and coaches and trains people and their horses. Marcia works with all ages, but especially loves to work with children. Marcia also specializes in rescuing and rehabbing horses and putting them back into full service with their people.

We participate and volunteer in The Ranch Church here in the Valley, a great place to visit if you're here over a Sunday. A casual upbeat Calvary Chapel Church with great worship music.

This is a family business with our two adult sons Dan and Jeremy helping and participating in bldg, constr and upkeep of our 10 acre property.

We have 2 grandchildren Noah 8 and Becca 19yrs that help too. Becca is our photographer! We have a couple of friendly dogs; MacKenzie and Cowboy.

We look forward to meeting you when you check in. You will love our area and our home away from home all prepared for YOU!

Kerry, Admin Asst or Marcia, Owner purchased this house in 2011

Why Kerry, Admin Asst or Marcia, Owner chose Santa Barbara County

We love the area, the people, the shops and restaurants etc. Our favorite restaurant is The Los Olivos Cafe; our favorite shop is Back At The Ranch in SY.

There are many, many places to visit and see. Serious bike riders LOVE this area. There are so many places to train. Horse people LOVE this area. There are several guided trail ride operations in the area with nice trails. If you bring your own horse there are trails nearby where you can ride in the mountains and by Cachuma Lake.

If you just want to get some R & R, The Country Ranch House is nice enough to just stay and enjoy with the amenities it provides. You will go home refreshed and ready to face the world once again!

We have many celebrations here. A Day in the Country, Danish Days, Santa Ynez Valley Days and more. We have parades for every holiday in various of the towns here. We have music festivals and music & movies in the park in downtown Solvang.

The visitors bureau will help us to collect all the dates of all that happens here.

And of course Wine Tasting has become a very BIG draw here. Wineries galore. We have begun a fun wine exchange program. Buy your favorite wine and leave a bottle with a message on the bottle, take a bottle another guest has left for your fun.

Take one, Leave one...a great exchange idea!!

Perfect for two couples to relax and explore the beautiful area

  • 5 of 5

Clean and well maintained guest house with comfortable beds. Kitchen had everything to prepare a meal. Quiet and peaceful with lots of stars to take in on a clear night.

Quick response time for reservation was appreciated since I booked last minute.

Hope to be back!

Beautiful home, attentive owners

  • 5 of 5

This review is quite late. The Country Ranch House - located on the property used for the owner's horse property and personal home - is beautifully appointed, immaculate and comfortable. The owners and their staff were incredibly communicative, as we stayed during the week that the Santa Rita Hills and the area around Santa Barbara was on fire! The property is close to dining in Santa Ynez, as well as to many wonderful wineries.

We'll certainly give strong consideration to staying here in the future, when our travels take us back to Santa Barbara's Wine Country! Thanks for a great weekend!

Relaxing home - great location- wonderful owners

  • 4 of 5

This adorable house on a horse ranch was comfortable and perfect for 2 couples. Both bedrooms have their own private bath. Very comfortable mattresses and linens and towels. Kitchen is well stocked and even has coffee! It's located 5 minutes north Santa Ynez, and 5 minutes south of Los Olivos on a private horse ranch! My favorite part was sitting in the back yard with the fire pit wth billions of stars and the horse who came by to say hello over the fence!

The owners were incredibly helpful as there were a few things needing to be replaced, so I let them know and they responded enthusiastically to make the changes. That;'s a really great sign! Would stay there again, especially knowing the small changes will now truly make this a 5 star property. Enjoy!

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for your wonderful review. We have stayed at places in the past that have a nice kitchen with nothing but dishes and pots and pans and utensils and a big empty refrigerator. Because we only stayed a couple of nights, we didn't want to go out and buy the staples necessary to make a basic meal so it all went unused and didn't really help us to have that nice kitchen. This is the reason that we have provided as many basics as we could think of so you only have to buy the main foods you need for a nice meal and have the rest to prepare and augment it. We are so glad that it was helpful to you. Our horses have learned that our guests are pretty friendly and usually will go and investigate who is here now!! We hope you do come back again!

Owner's Response: We enjoyed getting to know you. We used to have an employee from Belgium and it was going to be fun to let you visit since you are from there too but unfortunately he was no longer here by the time you came for your stay. But we sure enjoyed talking to you anyways! You left the house so clean and neat!! We have stayed in full houses before that have a big empty kitchen without anything but a few utensils and pans. How do you cook without spices and other basics? You don't so we do provide all the basics for a home away from home stay!! Glad it worked in your favor. Thank you very much!! We know you will enjoy the rest of your stay in Amercia!! Happy Trails!!

Charming house and warm lovely owner

  • 2 of 5

There were not enough towels, only 2 of each for a 3 day stay.

A cleaning fee was paid but the guest is. REQUIRED to put cushions on the outdoor furniture and remove them again, wahsh the dishes and empty it and take the trash out

When I have personal guests at my home these are normal things I as a good host would want to do

BY FAR the most serious problem was the cleanliness. There are dust bunnies and dust webs all over as well as mounds of dust beind the beds. The baseboards are VERY dirty

I have a severe allergy to dust mites and have been sick since my stay and could not recommend this venue

Owner's Response: If you look at reviews from hundreds of our guests over our 6 yrs of hosting guests you will see that cleanliness is a very common compliment. We get on our hands and knees and clean under the beds and the chairs and the furniture. The home is all wood floors with a large carpet under the master bed. The hidden couple of inches in front of the carpet under the bed against the wall of the heavy bed had collected your dust bunnies and once we realized it was there I was there on my hands and knees cleaning it out for you. We have hand washed baseboards and walls and more. This is generally the thing that our guests notice the most and comment and say how awesome it is to come in and find it so clean. I realize you have an illness that has you very susceptible to any dust and thus I was there in an instant when you asked to have the dust cleaned from the hidden spot under the head of the king bed. The outdoor furniture cushions are kept in beautiful shape by being kept indoors in the master closet a few convenient steps from the outdoor chairs. It is for your convenience that they are kept indoors so you don't have built up dirt and dust on them. I apologize if that was an inconvenience to have to move them out and then back in at the end of your stay. The garbage goes out immediately which is why we are able to keep the place bug, rodent and odor free as we cannot always come in immediately upon your exit. Sometimes we don't see it until hours later and lots can happen in those hours if there is raw garbage in the cans indoors. It takes me hours to clean the house without the additional things you mentioned. We leave our cell phone numbers for you so if you have any questions you can immediately contact us as well as the fact that we live here on the property too. There are extra towels all rolled up with handmade wraps on them stacked in a pyramid on the shelf in the master closet for those that need and use towels more often then once every 24 hrs and thus need a new dry one. There are also additional ones beyond that in the drawers in the master closet. I did mention that to your friend staying with you when she asked. She thanked me and got the additional towels out for the extra use. I trust that your own home is now all completed and ready for you. I know it was particularly interesting for you to stay here as you built and lived in the beautiful house next door to us. Best to you as you manage your illness. Sincerely, Marcia & Brian
