About Dan Carver
This 100 acre farm was purchased by the Carver family in 2016. For many years, Dan Carver Jr. (the father) and Dan Carver III (the son) often talked about wanting to own a farm. Needless to say, this was the second farm they looked at, and once they saw it, had to own it. They were impressed with the fact there were two separate lodges at opposite ends of the property, a 17 acre lake stocked with largemouth bass, channel catfish, and bluegill, and a natural 30 foot waterfall with a large plungepool, the sound of which could put you to sleep in minutes. They were also impressed that two spring-fed creeks runs through one whole side of the farm and there were hiking/ATV trails throughout most of the property. The abundant wildlife that often come through the property and lake views from both lodges sealed the deal. The father and son were so excited, in fact, that they made an offer on the farm right then, and quickly realized they would have to go home to explain to their wives what they had done. Fortunately, their wives were excited and quickly went down to see what projects the family should start first to begin making the farm as fun as possible. This farm is a labor of love for the Carvers and they are excited to allow others to enjoy the property by renting out both lodges, the proceeds of which will be reinvested into the farm to continually improve it for future guests. They are excited to share their recent projects on their Facebook page and on the Recent Project Page on this website. Pictured above is the Carver family from left to right: Dan Carver III, Trisha Carver, Taylor Carver, Dan Carver Jr., Dan (Cash) Carver IV, Marie Carver. Come check out why the Carvers love this place so much and why they refer to it as their "Paradise".

Why Dan Carver chose Perry County
The Cash Lodge is a 2 bedroom, 1 bath ranch-style lodge that sleeps up to 6 people. It has been completely rehabbed with new central air and heat and offers 720 square feet of cozy country living. Besides the queen bed in the master and the bunk bed in the kids bedroom, there is also a queen-sized sofa sleeper in the family room with an upgraded memory foam mattress. The bathroom offers a tub and shower combo and there are stainless steel appliances consisting of a refrigerator, glass top electric range, over the range microwave, and a dishwasher for your cooking enjoyment. There is no phone, internet, or satellite tv in this lodge. There is, however, an LED TV with a DVD player and a bunch of movies to watch. Brand new sliding doors lead to a stately 360 foot deck with unbelievable views of the lake and ridge, and plenty of outdoor seating to hang out for hours.
What makes this House unique
Where do you have access to your own private 17 acre lake stocked with large mouth bass, bluegill, and channel catfish? Where do you have the ability to look and listen to a 30 foot natural rock waterfall? Where do you have private lake front views from your kitchen and deck? The Carver Lake Lodge. There is another lodge at the opposite end of the lake so you may see another family down there if it is rented during your stay.

A slice of heaven just outside of St Louis
If you look at the pictures, read the description and think to yourself, "This is too good to be true"; you're wrong...its true! If we could give more than 5 stars we would! The house is immaculate, updated, clean and a perfect size for our family of five. You can't even see the other house and the lake is big enough to where you don't have to ever go near the other family. The property is just amazing! The hiking trails are wide and well groomed and weave throughout the acreage. The lake is clean, warm and refreshing. During our stay we did it all: hiked, swam, fished, used the paddle boat, played games, watched the stars, etc. Dan was extremely helpful answering all our questions prior to arrival and even some fishing follow up questions during our stay. The ride into town, although about 20 minutes, is a winding scenic drive with nature and wildlife galore. This was definitely one of our family's favorite stays!
Thanks for the kind review. We always enjoy hoping great families like yours who appreciate our small piece of paradise. You are welcome back anytime.
Not a Private Lake
I booked this house to take my five children on a short getaway to unplug as a family with the understanding that we would have full access to a private 17 acre lake and 100 acres of property. Much to my surprise I found three men fishing off of the dock one afternoon. We had kept the gate closed, per the property owner's suggestion, but regardless these three men were fishing at the dock and took out one of the boats on two different occasions during our stay. I assumed these were locals and kept my children close to the house during the stay, but obviously that prevented us from hiking or exploring the lake further. As a single mother on vacation with her five children, I would not recommend this property as there is an apparent risk of strangers arriving during your stay. When I brought my concerns to the property owner, I was rudely spoken to and told that I would not receive any type of refund since I did not notify him at the time of the men arriving. Please note that there is no wifi or telephone service within approximately 30 minutes of this property. On a positive note, the house was newly updated and well maintained, which is why I provided one star. Otherwise, I would have given this property zero stars.
Unfortunately, our perfect feedback on all the property sites has been ruined by this guest. She failed to notice or research the property to know there are (2) lodges on the property at opposite ends of the lake that are 1,200 feet apart. She noticed the other guests fishing on the dock on the first day of her 4-day reservation, and she was surprised to see them. They were a group of 3 men staying for 3 weeks at our other lodge that traveled from Arizona to work on The National Shrine of the Miraculous Medal. Instead of this renter introducing herself to the men to find out who they were and why they were there, or calling us for help, she claims she was terrified to see men on the property and couldn't leave the house to do ANYTHING on the 100 ACRE farm. She stated she traveled to Johnson Shutins (a public park with hundreds of strangers around) but didn't bother to call me on her drive there to let me know of her concerns about these men. She decided to use the property for the next 3 days, checked out Sunday at 11AM and sent me a FULL REFUND request 13 hours after checkout at midnight on Sunday. She was so concerned about these men that she didn't reach out to me one time during her stay and gave us our first ever less than perfect review. Her review saying I was rude to her is completely inaccurate. I merely asked her why she didn't contact us sooner during her stay so we could try to resolve her issue. We had renters last year at this same lodge when a storm knocked down power lines and the guests had no power. They called us to let us know and my dad and I drove down there and took their daughter on ATV rides, etc. to make up for the inconvenience and they were so impressed with our farm and our concern that they are coming back in 2 weeks to stay again. When I told her we did not think it was reasonable for us to give a FULL REFUND for the fact that there were guests at the other lodge, she offered to change her review if I gave her a partial refund. We knew it was a matter of time until we got a renter that would try to take advantage of us but fortunately we've met and hosted many great guests over the past 2 years and we won't let this one bad renter change our desire to rent to the general public. The whole reason we rent is to continue to improve the farm so other families can build memories like we have. I feel bad for these 3 gentlemen doing very admirable work she assumed to be dangerous for some unknown reason; very sad
Very nice and peaceful place to visit... Thanks a bunch!!

The lodge was perfect and the private lake was beautiful! We had a couples weekend getaway and couldn't have asked for a better time! The waterfall was gorgeous and the fishing was great! We definitely can't wait to come back again in the future!

Perfect Retreat - Carver Lake Lodge (Cash Lodge)
This was the perfect retreat! Even though it was a short stay, we thoroughly enjoyed it. We were so pleased with the accommodations. The house is super clean and nice. It was great to relax in this cozy home while looking out at the beautiful view of the lake. We were lucky to have a rather warm winter day and got to venture out on a hike to the gorgeous waterfall. The expansive deck was a wonderful place to enjoy a glass of wine and savor the tranquility of this idyllic retreat. I would recommend this peaceful paradise again and again. I cannot wait to go back!
