About Fleur Leslie
“Not all those who wander are lost.” – J. R. R Tolkien Remember that famous line from Alice in Wonderland as she heads down the rabbit hole into a strange new world of untold imagination. “Curiouser and curiouser!” Well that’s the way we hope you feel about our 10 unique wonderlands. Duffelbird’s flock of getaways are for those with a heart for adventure – places where you can unwind or unravel, let your existential selves hang free to ponder life and love, under the stars, away from the noise – immersed in nature. Our hidden gems are rich in character and layered in mystery, no more than 2.5 hours out of Melbourne – a converted steam train in the Otways, a mid-century charmer on the fringe of an orchid forest, a glass fronted masterpiece overlooking the wild waters of Westernport – each of them tucked away in some of the most unspoilt corners of Victoria, waiting for you to explore with wide eyes and wonder. Bring your well-mannered dogs. Let them roam free, (just not on the furniture) while you settle in to our sometimes quirky, often eclectic, always whimsical, hideaways. Can you hear the water? The breaking waves? The cascading waterfall? Can you feel the peace, the calm, the astounding beauty of Mother Nature wrapping you in a gentle embrace? We’ve felt it too. At the ritual Burning Man in the Nevada desert, deep in the jungles of Costa Rica and atop the volcanic peaks of Hawaii. And we want to give all the quirky travellers out there a chance to awaken that ‘wanderlust’ energy. Because we all need time out so we don’t go bonkers in the real world. Go on, escape the chaos, experience the enrichment of nature, the magic of complete abandonment, the inspiration of new surrounds. Let Dufflebird be your tour guide to a wildly curious life. Rabbit hole to Wonderland, right this way. Fleur and Mike

Nice cosy hideaway down the coast.
This is a delightful house with all the elements of home to make your stay comfortable. The kitchen is great and outlook onto the back garden, restful and great for sea breezes. Neat location near the state park to go walking or appreciate the native birds.
Thanks for staying Peggy and being easy guests to host. We also love the quiet location and proximity to the The Great Otway National Park (formally the Angahook-Lorne Sate Park).
A home away from home
This property was everything we hoped it would be - cosy, comfortable, beautifully clean and with plenty of character. A great yard for the kids and the dog; backyard cricket and a glass of wine on the deck! The toys and books went down a treat and the kitchen was equipped with everything we needed. We all enjoyed the walk through the Otway National Park - literally across the road. The perfect getaway. Thank-you!
Thanks Katrina for being such great guests and leaving the place in terrific shape. We really appreciate the effort you obviously went to to leave no trace of dog. The flat fenced yard is terrific for kids and dogs and a luxury in Anglesea. We'd be delighted to have you all stay again.
From the moment we booked until we left we have had our expectations exceeded. Nothing has been an issue, fantastic communication and consideration including having the heating and lights on for our arrival. The photos do not do the house justice as it is prettier and more spacious than we expected. We have stayed in a lot of holiday rentals and this would be one of the best we have have had. The care and attention to detail in having thought of a renters needs was unmatched in our experience. We would definitely stay here again in the future. Thank you for sharing your property with our family.
Thanks for a glowing review. We try to put on the heating and light the house in welcome, but it is not always possible. It is a bonus when we can do it but it shouldn't be expected. Thanks for being great guests. We look forward to your return.
Great place for a weekend away. immaculately tidy, modern and well appointed kitchen. Fire place for the evening. Great range of games and activities for the kids (puzzles, dress ups, lego, and books). Thanks a million.
Thanks Mark for staying at The Flying Duck Orchid Beach House in Anglesea.
I have some fond memories of a couple of holiday houses we rented when our children were very young. The two in particular that are etched in my memory, both had lots of games and activities for children. I remember our kids being excitedly mesmerised for days and us getting a break too. We have tried to emulate that here, We hope you will all come back and you are very welcome anytime.
Amazing. Comfortable with a great feel!!
Thanks Lou, so pleased you were comfortable and enjoyed your stay. I think all of those north facing windows and light definitely contribute to the great of the place,
Relaxing holiday getaway
Our family of 4 (plus our pet dog) had a fantastically relaxing stay at Flying Duck Orchid. We really appreciated the easy communication with and recommendations from Fleur - loved the Poppy's Nursery Cafe for breakfast!
Everything was as described and previous reviews have been spot on - the owners have really thought of everything! We would definitely recommend this place for a lovely getaway near the beach.
Thank you for being such a pleasure to host and most notably the effort you went to leave leave the property in excellent shape. We find the longer guests stay at the house, the more more they enjoy it. With a 10 night stay like yours, guests seem to really feel a sense of home with a nuanced understanding of the location.
