We live on the property and so, of course, treat it with extra loving care. We were drawn to the unique waterfront property with the southern feeling and privacy, with location, location, location. The waterfront private dock combined with beaches and downtown make this a perfect spot. ** It is very important to us that you are aware that we live in a full and private apartment attached to this house.

What makes this house unique

This house is very convenient to Historic Charleston and great restaurants. Everyone loves the outside and the dock. Aside from the private property peninsula, it is surrounded by water and has water views of the creeks, the rivers, and the marshes. The water views and the tidal changes really make this property spectacular. It is all about the fabulous waterfront location, the ebb and flow of the tides, the natural wildlife, and the privacy, combined with a comfortable savvy home. What a way to enjoy Historic Charleston, the Beaches and the marshes! The location can't be beat, as is evidenced by the mega multi million dollar homes in the area.

Yes, we spent every evening on that beautiful wrap-around porch, telling stories and singing songs. A gathering of 6 friends from far-flung areas of the country gathered together for 6 days of Southern Hospitality from Laurie and George. That porch also provided the spot for early morning cups of strong coffee as we waited for everyone to arise before breakfast was served.

The home is as described by many; spacious, comfortable, well-decorated and well-stocked. It is impossible to add an original thought. It's all been covered. We all thoroughly enjoyed the beautifully landscaped property, the water access, the privacy, the tips given to us for beaches and tourist destinations, the kayaks and the WiFi access.

One of the highlights of our stay was when we were surprised one afternoon to a cooler full of crabs at our front door. This provided a whole host of wild laughter and entertainment as we novices tried to figure out how to steam and clean them. Fortunately, the homeowners provided much needed guidance and assistance when they discovered our ineffectiveness surrounding the extraction of the meat from the crusty shell. It gave us all a new appreciation for the amount of work it takes to create a crab cake and the amount of money you spend at a restaurant for such a meal is a reflection of that labor.

Another memorable night was when we all gathered in the living room to watch the movie, "The Big Chill" - a DVD copy is (not surprisingly) available in the home. It was a reminder of how important friendships really are, and the time to gather is not only at a funeral or a reunion, but anytime you can.

The home is lovely and the spot is beautiful. Great to watch the ships go by off the back porch. The interior is beautifully and comfortably decorated. The beds are comfortable. There was not a want of need for anything. Our girls weekend gave us the chance to unwind, laugh and relax. As family we do not get enough time to be together and this was special for all of us. We love the area and the close proximity to Charleston. Thank you for letting us be a part of your home and community for the weekend.

Perfect for our family of 6 (even in the snow!)

Laurie and George were super to work with! This is probably the best managed rental we've ever used. We ran into several hiccups due to the weather. They were helpful, supportive and generous. Luckily the house was wonderful as we were snowed in. Everyone had a bedroom to retreat to, we enjoyed watching movies & cooking. Luckily, again, we were able to get to a grocery store to stock up. Plus the hot tub! We'd love to come back when the weather is more typical of Charleston. The property looked lovely; big back yard that backs up to the water.

Perfect for our family

The setting was great and the lovely home was perfect size for us. The owners were pleasant and helpful. The only (small) problem was the WiFi did go out at some points. Apparently not the owners fault. Convenient to drive into Charleston, we took the kayaks out for a brief trip, and enjoyed the hot tub. If we come back, we would certainly stay here again.

Great house & awesome yard!

Very nice and comfortable home. There is a dock and kyacks/stand up paddle board to use. The beds were all awesome. The house was beautifully decorated.

There are a few things to know, this is in the old neighborhood of Remleys Point that is slowly being revitalized so you will see houses that are not that nice on your way there. This house is fine, surrounded by nice houses. Also the owners are above the garage so you have to keep your group of cars to a minimum (3-4) and cannot park in street or in front of garage. It worked out fine.

We had a party of 9, everyone had a room and my younger daughter had a pull out sofa. There is one room w two queen beds where she could have stayed but awkward for a couple to stay with her.

There is also a large closet off of master with a mattress you can use. Again awkward for our situation but can be used for extras.

Owner's Response: We agree - this is a 5 star house and a 5 star property. Thank you for enjoying the gorgeous yard and home. We can easily park 5 cars, and even more , when guests utilize the left side parking area as well as the full circular drive. We will nail in some signs this week to assist with clarity. We always encourage everyone to fully read our house description before booking - the bedding layout and configuration suits the needs of many groups. With 4 great bedrooms, + 2 sofa beds + one twin cot, the layout is good for many groups. We welcome all groups who are not uncomfortable having us nearby - we think it is the best way to travel!
