About Renee de Saxe

Our family moved to the Barossa Valley in 2016. We live just up the road from the 40 Acre Retreat. We love the Marananga area, its location is so central and the valley is so picturesque.

Renee de Saxe purchased this farmhouse in 2017

Why Renee de Saxe chose Marananga

Visitors to the Barossa Valley have been staying at the 40 Acre Retreat for well over 6 years. We took ownership of the property at the end of 2017. We loved the abundance of natural light and big open plan living space. We got to work straight away giving the place a much needed overhaul and we think the results speak for themselves. Our aim was to create a home that was fresh, inviting and relaxed both indoors and out.

What makes this farmhouse unique

Located on a 40 Acre farm, the birds are generally the noisiest thing you will hear, or the lambs in lambing season. It is a short drive to the most visited wine and food offering in the valley.

Excellent location, good property with children

  • 4 of 5

We travelled with a small group of adults and children. The property is excellent for children as there is plenty of room to run and explore. It was clean and the layout is good. The house is listed as sleeping 10 people but that includes two mattresses that we had to put in the lounge because the rooms were not big enough to host them. Given there is only one (large) sitting area, we couldn't have adult time at night because a couple of the children were sleeping in the lounge. Even watching television was tricky because we kept the children awake.

Great for groups

  • 4 of 5

The house was stylish and had lovely linens. Very happy with the bedrooms, bathrooms and living areas. The kitchen is in need of an update - electric hotpates and a slow oven. Overall a lovely house I would recommend.
