About Robin Riker

Born and raised in Colorado I learned to water and snow ski, fish, hunt and camp out at an early age. When my career brought me to Arizona I continued those activities in the beautiful White Mountains.

Robin Riker purchased this cabin in 2004

Why Robin Riker chose Pinetop-Lakeside

My parents came to live with me from Colorado in the Phoenix area in 2000. During the summer they would park their motor home in the White Mountains to get out of the heat. The limited space in the motor home made it cramped during summer visits and was not an option for winter visits. So began the search for a real log cabin!

What makes this cabin unique

Having the security of a hospital close by for my aging parents and a regional airport for easy access were important factors in choosing the Pinetop/Lakeside area. Convenient access to skiing, fishing and hunting enabled me to pursue my interests. The bonus was getting all the extras; casino, shopping, movie and live theater, night life, restaurants and special events year round.

My parents enjoyed the cabin as their summer home and parked their 34 foot motor home for guests next to the open paved patio. After 11 years my parents moved back to Colorado to live with one of my sisters and Little Bear Log Cabin became a vacation rental in late August 2011 with the first guest booking for Labor Day Weekend. Sharing Little Bear Log Cabin with others restores it purpose now that my parents have moved away.

Our whole family totally enjoyed our stay at your cabin. We found it clean and equipped for all our needs. Plus, beautifully decorated! I can't tell you how much we enjoyed ourselves, and undoubtedly your cabin was beneficial in making our Christmas one to remember!!

Thank you and many blessings,

Beautiful Cabin in the Pines

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I ( and our two dogs) just spent the most delightful week at Little Bear Lodge. The cabin is immaculate, decorated to perfection and stocked with everything you need for a comfortable and relaxed vacation. The fenced in yard was perfect for our pets. We had breakfast of the comfortable front, decorated with gorgeous hanging baskets of flowers. There are many nice walking paths close by, as well a a field for "fun runs." The cabin comes with a nice grill and outside ding area, which we took full advantage of, as well as a hammock to relax in while listening to the whispering pines. Comfortable beds and a cozy living room with a fireplace made a nice getaway on the two occasions it briefly rained. The owner is so nice to work with, providing timely responses to all of our inquiries and detailed materials to ensure a successful stay. Absolutely wonderful! Book this gem early!

Great, Great Property

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I so enjoyed our visit to this property, it was very clean, no it was spotless and everything it said it would be in the cabin description. All the furniture was very comfortable, as was the bed and the kitchen had everything one needed. We enjoyed setting on the front porch and reading on the days we would have a nice afternoon shower. We would recommend this property to anyone looking for a great get away with plenty of privacy. Only thing else I can say is "Thanks" for the relaxing time!!.

We loved this cabin, it had everything we needed and more. It is private and VERY quiet. We loved the fenced yard and the flowers baskets were the largest and most beautiful we have ever experienced. Robin did a great job of communicating and made our stay comfortable. The décor was upscale and the beds were ever so comfortable. We have already reserved our next summer stay.

Wonderful property! Attention to detail was amazing!!!!

  • 5 of 5

We were totally in love with this cute little cabin! The furnishings were comfortable- the beds are AMAZING! The property was SPOTLESS! The hanging baskets outside are gorgeous. All of our guests that came to stay were impressed as well. It was so well worth it! The ONLY thing we didn't like was having a charcoal grill instead of a gas one but that was not that big of deal. Robin has done a great job with this property!!!! I hope we can come back next year.

Comfortable home on very quiet dead end street

  • 5 of 5

My wife, dog and I stayed at the Little Bear Lodge for two weeks this summer. We needed to beat the heat and be close to hiking trails. This home fit our needs very nicely.

The home is very clean and exactly as pictured. The entire yard is fenced so was perfect for our dog Brody. The home is at the end of a dead end street and right next to a 15 acre forested area so it is very quiet even though you are only a mile from the main street. The documentation on things to do in the area and how to do things in the home are very well organized and very helpful.

The beds were very comfortable and the shower had plenty of hot water. We rely on internet for a lot of our entertainment (streaming video and music) and that worked fine as well. The best part of the house for us though was the front porch. We stayed outside most of the time to enjoy the weather. Thank goodness there is a ceiling fan right over the outside seating area because it did get a little warm a couple days. We didn't need the A/C in the house but I was tempted to turn it on one day. The house stays relatively cool and the windows provide a nice breeze.

I was worried we might run out of things to do but we didn't get to all the places we wanted to see. if you like hiking and don't mind driving 30-45 minutes, there are some great areas with nice wildflowers and great forests. The forests around Pinetop are nice but not many wildflowers. It must be the type of soil. Still, they make great hikes if you want something really close. We took our mountain bikes on the Rim Road as well. Didn't get as far as we would like because the monsoon came in while we were out but it is a good dirt road and very close to the home. The Petrified Forest National Park and Painted Desert are not too far and was really cool. I would recommend the short hike into the Blue Mesa area. It is really unusual.

If you want a cool, quiet, comfortable place to beat the Valley heat, this is a good choice.
