About Robin Riker

Born and raised in Colorado I learned to water and snow ski, fish, hunt and camp out at an early age. When my career brought me to Arizona I continued those activities in the beautiful White Mountains.

Robin Riker purchased this cabin in 2004

Why Robin Riker chose Pinetop-Lakeside

My parents came to live with me from Colorado in the Phoenix area in 2000. During the summer they would park their motor home in the White Mountains to get out of the heat. The limited space in the motor home made it cramped during summer visits and was not an option for winter visits. So began the search for a real log cabin!

What makes this cabin unique

Having the security of a hospital close by for my aging parents and a regional airport for easy access were important factors in choosing the Pinetop/Lakeside area. Convenient access to skiing, fishing and hunting enabled me to pursue my interests. The bonus was getting all the extras; casino, shopping, movie and live theater, night life, restaurants and special events year round.

My parents enjoyed the cabin as their summer home and parked their 34 foot motor home for guests next to the open paved patio. After 11 years my parents moved back to Colorado to live with one of my sisters and Little Bear Log Cabin became a vacation rental in late August 2011 with the first guest booking for Labor Day Weekend. Sharing Little Bear Log Cabin with others restores it purpose now that my parents have moved away.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This was our second stay at Little Bear and once again found it to be totally delightful. This time I stayed back at the cabin and did crafts while the boys ventured off to the Run To The Pines Car Show which was only 15 minutes away. Such a cozy place and so well organized with just about everything you could ask for in a getaway vacation.

I then decided it was time for some exercise and ventured out to take a good walk and found the surrounding scenery so beautiful from fields of beautiful wild flowers to seeing someones corral of horses - so much beauty out there in Pinetop to enjoy.

The owner is so easy to communicate with and so very well organized that I even asked for what system and paperwork she uses to use on my own VRBO property on the East Coast.

Great place to stay with a very nice owner! Thank you again for a wonderful weekend....

The size of the cabin was perfect for our family. It was neat and tidy and had a great location. The beds were super comfy. I would stay here again.

Stayed Again

  • 5 of 5

We love visiting up here!! The cabin is so wonderful and warm. If you have dogs, you'll be very pleased that the yard is fenced. The cabin is incredibly well furnished and very comfortable. The two leather chairs are recliners which makes watching tv great if you're relaxing after a long hike. Don't forget to turn the ice maker in the fridge on when you get there.

Super quiet, clean and comfy!

  • 5 of 5

Well, I must say this is one of the cutest little cabins I've ever stayed in. It is very, very neat and clean. It has everything you need including super fast Wifi. It is conveniently located with everything you could use within a couple miles. Don't bring a lot, just make a list when you get there and head to the Walmart close by. And to make it even better, the owner, Robin, was responsive and super easy to work with. I highly recommend this cabin. And she accepts pets! Although you'd never know it by looking at the place.

Just like home!

  • 5 of 5

Best vacation home away from home! As soon as we drove down the street to arrive at our vacation home, we were in love. The home is very cozy and quiet. I'm always nervous about how beds will feel while on vacation...the beds in this cabin are a piece of heaven. As soon as the sun went down we lit a fire in the fireplace, cozied up on the couch and watched movies. We will definitely recommend this cabin to family and friends. The enclosed yard allowed for our pups to run around and experience the cool air and pines. The owner is very nice and responds quickly to emails. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!

Cozy and well appointed pet friendly cabin in a perfect location

  • 5 of 5

Little Bear Cabin was so cozy and had all we needed to enjoy our vacation. It's a small cabin, but the space is used so well and the decorative touches are charming. We appreciated that we could bring our dog and parrot with us. We had to rearrange a bit, but we were able to fit a dog crate and birdcage in one of the bedrooms. Our dog loved the fenced in yard and the wooded area next door. The parrot enjoyed a view of the back yard and a front row seat to watch the playful squirrels. We had everything we needed in the kitchen and a nice sized TV to watch the Cubs beat the Dodgers to advance to the World Series. Beds were comfy and bathrooms were clean. So many nice touches everywhere! The front porch was wonderful - hanging baskets still blooming in October and cute fall decorations.

The cabin is in a great location! We hiked the trails near Woodland Lake and fished at the lakes in Show Low. We were close to groceries, restaurants and anything we could need. We enjoyed a scenic 90 minute drive to Big Lake, a high elevation lake with exceptional fishing. It was a highlight of our trip to stop for a herd of elk to cross the road!

All the information provided to us about the cabin was detailed, accurate and helpful. Robin set expectations clearly up front so there were no surprises. It was a pleasure to stay here and we look forward to staying here again the next time we go to Pinetop! Thanks, Robin!
