This charming cottage/villa in historic Semaphore is only one house back from the esplanade and a short walk to quirky Semaphore road shops, pubs and restaurants.

The house is comfortably furnished with pre-loved furniture and everything you need for a romantic getaway or a relaxed family holiday.
Semaphore has a wide sandy beach backed by sandhills and a long jetty where fishing is popular.
Semaphore is only 20 minutes from Adelaide CBD by car, and there is a train station 15 minutes walk away and a bus stop 5 minutes away.
Historic Port Adelaide is not far away with its old buildings, art scene and museums and the famous Port River dolphins.
The four bedrooms are arranged as two bedrooms each with a queen bed, one bedroom with two single beds and one bedroom with two single beds and a roll-away bed.

There is a plain but sunny and sheltered back yard with lawn and paving, an outdoor setting and BBQ.
There is parking on the property but the driveway is narrow and please be aware that immediately outside the house there is a 2 hour parking limit - a few metres along the road you can park all day.

About Sally Parnis
I live in Adelaide, South Australia. Francis and I love to travel at home and abroad, and I love to host as well. We have three young adult children. I work as an artist. When we travel we enjoy learning about local food and culture and being active - we walk everywhere as much as possible. When not exploring art galleries, theatre, restaurants and city life we like finding places of natural and wild beauty - preferably walking, cycling or paddling !
Sally Parnis purchased this House in 2010
Why Sally Parnis chose Semaphore
We hope to live at this house eventually when our children have left home. We love Semaphore with its history and quirky vibe and we love being so close to the beach! Only a barefoot walk across the road and you're there!
What makes this House unique
This is such a beautiful and charming old home - a really typical Semaphore bluestone. Not only is it pretty, but it has a flexible floor plan and we hope the addition this year (2018) will make it even more functional.

Lovely place to stay in Semaphore
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in 'Rose by the Sea'. Lovely home with everything you need and close to beach and main shopping street. Paintings throughout home are absolutely beautiful! Would definitely reccommend this property and we will most definitely stay again in the future! Sally the property owner is lovely and very helpful!

Great place to stay in Semaphore
We booked this property for family members visiting from overseas, and found it to be a well presented, clean period house , in great location for beach and local services, with good sized rooms and lots of thoughtful extras ie beach towels , Also found Sally very easy to communicate with.
Thanks Nick, I'm happy your guests enjoyed Christmas at Rose by the Sea! They are welcome back any time.
Quality, character and great location
Sally takes great care in the details and Rose by the Sea was a wonderful, character-filled place for us to rest and from which to explore Semaphore. Highly recommend the house and the location!
I'm delighted that you enjoyed the house Clare. Thanks for being a tidy and appreciative guest. We would love to see you back any time!
We had our girls weekend this year at this property and loved it . The house is spacious and very clean, lovely bedding and is very close to Semaphore Road, easy walk, you can also walk to Largs. Just a 30 second walk to the Palais. Everything you need is in this house. We will be back Sally and thankyou for a lovely stay.
I'm so glad you and the girls enjoyed your weekend Cathy. Thanks also for being such tidy and considerate guests. You are welcome any time.

This place is the best all the comforts of home and more. Great location, immaculate inside and out. We will definatley be returning, so much to do all in walking distance too. Big shout out a huge THANKS to Sally for everything you do and offer.

Thanks for your lovely review Fiona. You were great guests and left everything amazingly clean and tidy! The best thing is that you enjoyed the house. You are most welcome to stay any time!
Thank you Sally for your warm welcome note and provisions. We had a lovely time in Semaphore and the kids had a ball on the beach and exploring the esplanade.
Are you the featured artist in the house? The sketches were wonderful.
A kind neighbour brought the limited street parking to our attention - most likely saved us as ticket!
Thanks Tessa for your review. The parking is indeed tricky - I was nearly caught myself. It is highlighted in the blue manual in the house, but thanks for pointing it out - I have added it to the property description as well. Yes, I am the Artist. I am glad you enjoyed my work! You were also great guests and left the house beautifully tidy, Thank you.
