We loved the house - it is spacious, modern and extremely comfortable. Jeff and Colleen have thought of every possible amenity for a vacationing family. They are the nicest and easiest hosts to deal with.
The location is awesome - a few minutes walk to Embarcadero and the Morro Rock. Every day we saw right out of the kitchen window deer grazing on the grass across the street. The house also has gorgeous views of the ocean and the Morro Rock. There were lots of seals, sea lions and otters who really put on a show in the bay.
The Morro Bay location turned out to be pretty central and convenient with easy access to San Luis Obispo, Cambria, Paso Robles and Hearst Castle.
We especially enjoyed visiting Cambria's Moonstone beach and Robin's restaurant. Our favourite winery was Carmody McKnight in Paso Robles. We also took Hearst Castle tour at night and the holiday lights were very pretty.
The whole family loved it and we would absolutely come back!
The house is incredibly accommodating for a large group. We recently stayed at this wonderful home for our 3rd company fishing trip to Morro Bay. The rooms are beautiful with many comfortable beds. The kitchen is well stocked. The view of the Rock and the Bay is also very nice. It is a 5 minute walk down to the Embarcadero where a group can book a fishing trip or enjoy dinner at one of many restaurants. I couldn't imagine a better home with a better location for a family looking to enjoy the Embarcadero and all the sites nearby. Great place!
Booked for wedding party housing. Worked out perfectly for bride's family and bridesmaids. Plenty of room for everyone to have privacy when needed and join together for meals and conversation. Perfect for bride and bridesmaids preparation during day of. Home was well stocked with everything we needed and within walking distance of shops and restaurants. I think the highest compliment I can pay... my wife mentioned just yesterday that we should book the house again next summer for a family reunion.
As you come in on the main level the gaming areas makes you feel like you could never leave the home for your entertainment.
Full wet bar, pool table, music, dart board and just a fun place to hang out.
There's a two car garage that's perfectly clean and has a garage door opener. Driveway parks two vehicles and lots of street parking for friends and family.
The second level is laid out great for large groups. Mid room with a nice walk in shower and comfortable bed. There's what we called the library room. Through its doors are the library with a Murphy bed. And within this area is a separated laundry area with full amenities. Then there's is another bedroom with a jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. Perfect area for a husband and wife with kids.
Then there is the master bedroom, wow! As you awake in the morning you have a full view of Morro rock from bed. Then as you step out on the deck you can see the harbor and the ocean in the back drop. The walk in two head and full body sprayer shower system was great and it also has a steam shower. Very relaxing as though you are at a spa.
Then the third level. Full bath, sitting area with a big screen tv, Murphy bed, dining area and the deck with the BBQ and a view of the beach.
The family room is extremely comfortable. Hideaway bed couch, large two person 360* spinning chair with views of the ocean, and a love seat. Great hang out area. The deck has a four stool bar table that was wonderful for candle light dinners and coffe in the morning.
Last but not least is the gourmet kitchen. As a Chef, this is the area I spend a lot of time in. Let me just say that it was awesome! As if It was designed from a Chef's mind. So much to say about it that you just need to go stay there and use it.
As far as the area goes, it's in an extremely function location. Walking distance to the embarcadero. Short bike ride to the beach and Morro rock. Fishing, kayaking and plenty of activities close by. Finally it is close to freeway access to go to a lot of wonderful places close by.
I cannot wait to go back next year! Hopefully this will be an annual event for my family.
Thank you so much Jeff and Colleen!
Wait for it...that's what we do for vacations. You read a gillion descriptions, look a a bunch of pix. Pick one and hope. This did not disappoint. I always fear vacationing with a couple of couples. Would we have our space to really enjoy the private times away from the other couples? The answer was a resounding yes! From the downstairs rec area with a beautiful pool table to your bedroom to the various areas for sitting, games, and socializing, this house had it all. Especially when you share a home with several couples, bathrooms are important. I didn't count, but there was always one there when you needed it. And each one had either a great bathtub, sauna, whirlpool (couldn't spell jacuzzi), shower. Everything was full-sized too. And the best part...hot water! Nothing worse than being the last into the shower and there is no hot water left. One of your soon to be killed friends had taken his normal forty minute escape to paradise, leaving you frustrated, frozen, and determined to be first. Each bathroom has its own instant hot water tank. FREEDOM! Shower as long as you want, without fear of being hated by everyone else in the house.
We loved the morning coffee's on the balcony looking at Morro rock. The view from here was better than most restaurant's view. Happy hour was phenomenal from our balcony. The house was also in walking of Martini Monday at one of the local places. The beauty of this was that after a rollicking round of martinis, you could walk back home getting your cardio and reprieve of a DUI all at once.
I just said home. That's what was charming about this place. It is someone's home. It is comfortable for lounging, eating, movie watching...just like home. And it sure was cleaner than many homes I've visited too. And all around the house, you see evidence of the home life of the owners. You could see the love growth of a fine looking family. That made this rental even more special.
Outside we saw very interesting things. If you are feeling peeky, there are binoculars made like a telescope so you could zero in on the herd of four to five deer who foraged and frolicked in the woodsy area across the street. I enjoyed looking at the police training canines to attack dastardly villains. This area is far enough away, there is still beautiful quiet.
The owner was gracious but never intruded.
I would return to this wonderful respite on a regular basis. It felt like home...except with way more people. I have already recommended this rental.
This home is far more roomy and elegant than the pictures led us to expect.
The top floor holds the kitchen, dining area, a couple of sitting areas and a table game or reading area. The views from the top floor are wonderful and give a clear view of the ocean and Morro Rock. On the north side of the street is a fenced area with deer. We were able to watch six deer wander around and play almost every day. There is also a full bath and a couple of pull out couches and a Murphy bed on this level.
The middle floor has three bedrooms, the library and the main laundry. Each bedroom had a private bath. One bath was a traditional bath/shower unit. One had a whirlpool tub. The last had a very nice walk in steam shower. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were very quiet. The library has a pull out couch, but does not have a dedicated bath.
The bottom floor provided garage area and a game room complete with a pool table, dart board and wet bar. There is also a full bath on this level and a pull out couch.
There are lots of TVs. Each bedroom has its own TV, the upstairs family area has a nice large TV above the fireplace and another in the second sitting area.
We had six adults in our group and celebrated Thanksgiving here with four other adults and our grandson. The dining table was large enough to seat all of us without problem.
The house is located near the top of the hill, but is an easy walk to and from the Embarcadero, the harbor and the beach.
