It will not be our last stay ...

June 22 – July 2 2008

When we arrived we suddenly felt in love with this beautiful house. Our first expression was to be in one of these “Astrid Lindgren Houses” – story of Michel in Kathult. The old house is full of lovely details so we and the children had a lot of things to discover in the house and the nature. We liked to row the red boat on the lake and to swim in the clear waters. We tried to explore the nearby beaches and the holiday park in Kristiansand. The only thing we missed was 5 degrees more on the thermometer. The house itself was best equipped – we missed nothing here. It was our first stay in Norway, but it will not be the last stay here because there are so many places to visit.

Weihnachten im Frolandhaus

  • 5 of 5

  • 5 of 5

Lovely house in great location

  • 5 of 5

We've had a great time in this holiday house at the end of August.

The house was well equipped, beautifully furnished with some great antiques and comfortable.

Our girls particularly loved playing badminton in the garden. Despite the unsettled weather we managed to take out the rowing boat (my husband won't be called up for the Oxford or Cambridge rowing teams any time soon!!) and go for some great walks - it is a lovely part of the world. Unfortunately the lake had cooled down too much for swimming even for the kids.

Prima Urlaub!

  • 4 of 5

Idyllic setting to get away from it all

  • 5 of 5

This was our first trip to Norway, and we really enjoyed our stay at this lovely home. You definitely feel off the beaten path and in a place where you can truly relax and unwind. The house is extremely comfortable and well-equipped, and we did not want for anything during our stay. Svein and Ellen could not have been better hosts, and were extremely helpful at every stage of the holiday, from planning to leaving. Their house is just next door, and they are so kind and helpful should you need anything during your stay. We were there during raspberry and blueberry season and we picked kilo after kilo of delicious berries. I think our toddler survived on berries alone the entire week! :) We had the opportunity to take a boat tour of the islands with a working fisherman (just stopped by the docks in the nearby town and asked for someone who was willing to take us around) and it was the highlight of the trip. We saw viking graves, pulled up crab pots (and kept some for dinner that night!), pulled up fish nets and saw his catch... my kids just loved it! We also really enjoyed our day at Dyreparken, the amusement park near Kristiansand. We also loved the Nogne Brewery nearby- they have a tour, but we just went and bought some beer there and it is great. We spent one day fishing on the lake, and my kids each caught fish, which was great, and my kids also swam in the lake a bit. Overall, we were really happy with our stay and would recommend the house to anyone wanting to visit this part of Norway!! Thanks for sharing your lovely home with us!
