About Elyse Hamilton

Currently living in Melbourne. Excited to share this special place with other nature loving travellers.

Elyse Hamilton purchased this cabin in 2017

Why Elyse Hamilton chose Wartook

We love the grampians especially as one of us is a mad keen rock climber. The remote location is what drew us to the property and its stunning views of the local mountains and rivers.

What makes this cabin unique

The mob of kangaroos that come past the cabin almost every morning and night are the closest thing to neighbours we have. Waking up to Kookaburras and Galas takes some getting used to but its so nice to be reminded you are in the bush.

This was our second stay here and we love it. It has everything we need - space, peace and quiet and the ability to have our dog with us. We played golf, walked, drove to Stawell, Ararat and Halls Gap for a look around and got back in plenty of time to light the heater and snuggle down for the evening - bliss.

Pure and total BLISS

  • 5 of 5

Bracken Lodge is a little slice of heaven. We were there with two other couples over the long weekend in June and it was everything we had hoped it would be and so much more. Photos do not do it justice. It is such a peaceful space. We played board games, went hiking, snuggled in front of the fire (both inside and outside) and sat on the deck and listened to the kookaburras. The cabin is really clean and well organised . Everything you might need is provided. Elyse is an excellent host! We cannot wait to return again very soon! It is our new weekend getaway! Oh and the wildlife....we saw wild emus, kangaroos, wallabies....! Bracken Lodge really is magic.

Rustic but clean. Internet is fantastic for such a remote location. Perfect location for anyone interested in astronomy or astrophotography. Owners very prompt to reply to any questions and were very welcoming in all contacts. Will definitely be back !

A big bush block and a comfy stay

  • 4 of 5

Retro '70's log cabin. Comfy warm with just the fire.

The big attraction was the wildlife. An emu that seemed to live out back of the kitchen, maggies, kookas, one deer and countless roos.

Very close to the National Park.

We enjoyed our stay

Car: necessary
Other Activities:

Grampians National Park

The Grampians National Park Peaks walking/hiking trails.

Hollow Mountain walk - 1hr round trip.

Its about 10min drive north on C222, the turn towards Mt Zero.

A great quick walk to an amazing view of the Northern Grampians. Its pretty steep and some parts of the walk are rocky but worth it when you get to the top. You have the amazing view of the olive plantations below. On your way back stop by the Grampians Olive Co. (Toscana). You can see how award winning organic olive oil is made and enjoy a tasting plate. They also have wood fired Pizza if you ask nicely.

Pinnacle Trail (backwards) - About 4 hrs round trip.

The Grampians staple, but still amazing. We recommend doing it back wards because you get the million steps out of the first then you walk against the traffic ( if any) on the way down. You start in the car park in Halls Gap, head up the steps to the pinnacle (the view) then work you way back down past silent street, cool chamber and grand canyon to finish with Venus baths. You loop around and end up in the car park in halls gap.

Pop into 'absolute outdoors' and buy a walking tours map of the tracks around Halls Gap. They can show you on the map if you want more info.

Zumstiens/ Fish Falls

1 hour round trip + swimming hole ( Great in summer)

Head south from Bracken Lodge on northern grampians road (C222) towards halls gap for about 10 minutes and park at Zumsteins car park.

The track runs from the car park and its an easy walk (you could do it in thongs) and you end up at fish falls. You can swim here and jump into the water, its pretty deep in one spot. Take some snacks/drinks and chill there for a while if its warm. The water is fresh and beautiful.

If you want more walking, you can continue on up the steps to Mackenzie Falls which is another hour's walk (roughly)
