About Elyse Hamilton
Currently living in Melbourne. Excited to share this special place with other nature loving travellers.
Elyse Hamilton purchased this Cabin in 2017
Why Elyse Hamilton chose Zumsteins
We love the grampians especially as one of us is a mad keen rock climber. The remote location is what drew us to the property and its stunning views of the local mountains and rivers.
What makes this Cabin unique
The mob of kangaroos that come past the cabin almost every morning and night are the closest thing to neighbours we have. Waking up to Kookaburras and Galas takes some getting used to but its so nice to be reminded you are in the bush.

Loved our stay
Beautiful environment. Kangaroos, emu and deer. Log fire, cups of tea and a good book while kids worked on jigsaw puzzle. Perfect.
Four of us stayed here on the weekend and has an awesome time. Went to Mount Zero, the Gampians Olive Co. and the Pinnacle walk. The rest of the time we spent at the house with red wine, slow cooked lamb and a roaring fire. Also played a few rounds of bush golf! Will be back.
Loved our stay! The property was beautiful and everything was so near clean and tidy. Everything you could need was supplied!. Loved all the wildlife on the property too!!!
My partner and I stayed here for three days over the weekend and it was just amazing. We took our three dogs as well and they loved it too. Waking up to such a view every morning and being able to have all that lovely nature around just to yourself is the best way to have a getaway. Even though it was winter, in the evening we lit the outside fire and enjoyed a glass of wine while the sun set. We also spent a lot of time playing ping pong and darts in the games room. I can easily say this one of the best places I have stayed at and I can't wait to be able to stay again.
Ahhh the serenity!
Myself and six friends were lucky enough to stay at the beautiful Bracken Lodge a few weekends ago and it was an absolute dream. The picturesque wooden lodge immediately feels like you are at home. Situated on a huge piece of land and surrounded by the stunning landscape it gave us all some much needed peace and serenity away from our usual dwellings in busy Melbourne. We spent the mornings eating our breakfast on the deck in the sunshine and our days at the national park. The summit hike is a must while you are visiting! The house had everything we needed and more, including all of the necessary kitchen items for our big cook up on the Saturday night. It was clean and well kept and the owners have managed to make it feel like the house is yours. Also the shower has incredible hot water pressure which was bliss after the big hike. I can’t wait to rebook for a longer stay next time! Thank you Elyse for making our weekend so lovely.
Georgia, Thank you for your beautiful review. I am so glad you and your friends had a lovely time. We hope to have you all back at the Lodge again soon.
We had the pleasure of staying here over the Easter break. We will really miss waking up to the kangaroos, deer & stunning views. Great property with good wifi service & everything you need for a relaxing break away from normality.
Thanks so much Steve. Glad you had a great time.
The Grampians National Park Peaks walking/hiking trails.
Hollow Mountain walk - 1hr round trip.
Its about 10min drive north on C222, the turn towards Mt Zero.
A great quick walk to an amazing view of the Northern Grampians. Its pretty steep and some parts of the walk are rocky but worth it when you get to the top. You have the amazing view of the olive plantations below. On your way back stop by the Grampians Olive Co. (Toscana). You can see how award winning organic olive oil is made and enjoy a tasting plate. They also have wood fired Pizza if you ask nicely.
Pinnacle Trail (backwards) - About 4 hrs round trip.
The Grampians staple, but still amazing. We recommend doing it back wards because you get the million steps out of the first then you walk against the traffic ( if any) on the way down. You start in the car park in Halls Gap, head up the steps to the pinnacle (the view) then work you way back down past silent street, cool chamber and grand canyon to finish with Venus baths. You loop around and end up in the car park in halls gap.
Pop into 'absolute outdoors' and buy a walking tours map of the tracks around Halls Gap. They can show you on the map if you want more info. http://absoluteoutdoors.com.au/
Zumstiens/ Fish Falls
1 hour round trip + swimming hole ( Great in summer)
Head south from Bracken Lodge on northern grampians road (C222) towards halls gap for about 10 minutes and park at Zumsteins car park.
The track runs from the car park and its an easy walk (you could do it in thongs) and you end up at fish falls. You can swim here and jump into the water, its pretty deep in one spot. Take some snacks/drinks and chill there for a while if its warm. The water is fresh and beautiful.
If you want more walking, you can continue on up the steps to Mackenzie Falls which is another hour's walk (roughly)
