Only in Tas could you have such seclusion, warmth & luxury, so close to the CBD
With sweeping views of beautiful Barilla Bay, verdant vineyards, orchards and golf courses, "The Panorama" is an architectural indulgence on a well fenced 1 acre, set up for discerning travelers looking for a premium luxury experience. Only in Tasmania is it possible to have such a serene and glamorous rural location surrounded by award-winning restaurants, wineries, and food producers only 15 mins’ easy drive, or bus ride into the dead centre of Hobart city (with no traffic lights on the way), 18 minutes to Salamanca Markets, 13 minutes from the airport, and 5 minutes idyllic drive to historic Richmond. There is 24-hour access via an electronic keypad, secure parking for up to 7 vehicles and motion-detecting external flood lights for late arrivals. The massive, ducted reverse-cycle air conditioning and unlimited instant-on gas hot water systems will ensure you remain toasty warm on even the coldest Tasmanian Winter's day (important as Tasmania can get very brisk days in spring and Autumn as well). If you are driving from Launceston or Devonport you will drive directly to us before you hit the increasingly busy Hobart City traffic.
For stays over 4 days we provide an extra change of towels. We also change the sheets every week and do a light refresh of the house if requested. Sheets are sun-dried whenever possible for a luxurious smell and feel. There is a 15 to 25 percent discount for stays over 6 days, 20 to 30 percent for 10 or more, 25 to 35 percent for 14 or more and 35 to 45 percent for 28 days or more. The bigger discounts are during peak season - because it is so busy, we love to have longer stays and less cleaning days!
‘The Panorama’ is luxuriously appointed for up to 15 people and 5 infants, while set up to provide the ultimate indulgence for a romantic weekend for 2, small and extended family getaways, corporate groups, business colleagues, special events, or a group of friends "togethering". We configure the house to suit you - more chairs, high chairs, toys, cots, safety gates, and beds for large groups and cleared to highlight more designer space for smaller groups. Children love the fort, slide and park-like grounds as well as bunking in together in the large and secured family room apart from the adults, with their own powder room. We supply infant bath, cutlery, change table, crib, cutlery and crockery along with safety covers for power outlets. The study in the Penthouse suite can also be optionally set up as a dedicated nursery. Portacots can be supplied for young infants to sleep in comfortably with their parents in the large to enormous rooms.
Everything is supplied for your stay, including top quality crockery, cutlery, place mats, barbecues, cooking utensils, natural latex mattresses, “Microcloud” doonas and pillows (See the ‘ProductReview’ web site for how good these are), 1000 thread-count Canningvale bed-linen, Egyptian cotton towels, hand-wash, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toilet paper, tissues, cooking oil, salt and pepper, tea, ground coffee and plungers, breakfast provisions, and real milk. You will be kept at the perfect temperature throughout your stay, via a massive top of the line Actronair ducted air-conditioning system vented into every room and corridor, electric blankets, Sheraton throws, beyond 5-star hotel quality bedding, fantastic insulation and gas continuous hot water to all three showers, while still able to marvel at the unfolding vistas designed to be revealed at every turn, via extremely high quality and thickly glassed thermally efficient windows and doorways. Only absolutely environmentally sound products (such as vinegar and soda bicarbonate solutions) are used for cleaning and laundry.
Other quality appliances include an LG induction stove, top of the range AEG oven, De'Longhi dishwasher, Samsung upright fridge/freezer with ice maker and cold water dispenser, SMEG toaster and kettle. Sunbeam water filtration cooler, and Breville rice cooker. These will ensure you can take full advantage of the superior local produce, should you wish to take a break from the outstanding local restaurants. Automatic night lights are scattered throughout corridors, along with multiple free Wi-Fi access points to allow you to make full use of the high-speed NBN broadband. There is a new 50-inch Ultra High Definition TV to allow you to watch your free Netflix in dazzling 4K clarity, or to play our new Xbox 1 with driving, basketball and Minecraft games suitable for minors and adults alike. We invite you to indulge yourself.
There are 3 toilets, 2 full bathrooms, a huge bath, a powder room and three showers. A state of the art 10 kg washing machine, dryer and multiple drying lines teamed with all necessary cleaning equipment including a new Dyson vacuum will ensure you can easily maintain your clothing and the amenity of the house to your requirements, between our weekly refreshes. This is a very low crime area, but you can rest assured that your Lamborghinis – or Hyundais – are safe in the large automatic roll-a-door garage. There is off-street parking for up to seven other cars, and a lock for the gates can be provided if requested.
All stays can be provided with Yoga/Aerobics/Pilates training sessions up to 5 times a week, for a very competitive price. Led by one of Hobart's most popular instructors with 15 years’ professional experience, these exercise sessions for up to 12 people at a time, are tailored to your fitness levels and held on our large deck or in the very large garage if it is raining. Exercise mats and/or steps provided.
Only in Tasmania is it possible to have such a premium and serene location amongst award winning vineyards, pastures and orchards, only 15 minutes’ drive into the Hobart city centre. Moreover, this is a mainly freeway drive unimpeded by traffic lights all the way into Hobart city and only another minute or two onto Salamanca and Battery Point. This is considerably superior to similar properties in outer Hobart suburbs which require you to negotiate multiple lights, 50 km speed limits and traffic all the way in and back. Furthermore, at The Panorama, you are 2 minutes’ drive, or 25 minutes’ walk to Frogmore Creek, the Australian regional restaurant of the year 2015 and 2016. Award-winning food and wine at Puddleduck, Coal River Farm, Riversdale Estate, and Wicked Cheese, to name just a few, are as close or closer. Figs and Apricots are available at an orchard on our road, less than 100 metres outside the front gate, and you can pick your own cherries and berries at multiple locations nearby. 15 minutes’ drive on scenic country back roads takes you to MONA, 4 minutes straight up the main road is historic Richmond and then on to Zoodoo and Bonorong nature parks. Drive through Richmond on well-maintained country roads that will take you directly onto the East Coast Highway for day drives to spectacular Maria Island; Coles Bay, Wineglass and Honeymoon bays on the Freycinet peninsula; Port Arthur, Eaglehawk Neck and the 3 Capes walk on the Tasman Peninsula, or further up the coast to Bicheno and the awesomely beautiful Bay of Fires. Take a detour inland from Richmond for 15 minutes’ drive through picture-perfect hills, meadows and distant mountain views reminiscent of the Scottish Highlands, onto picturesque Craigbourne dam where you can fish for trout and salmon with a permit, which we can prearrange for you along with fishing rods. If you are looking for a holiday that will provide you with space and a lavish and uber-comfortable lifestyle, while being central to all that Hobart, the East Coast and Tasman Peninsula have to offer, there is no better choice.

About Robert Cairney
I am a retired IT professional, university-educated to post-grad level but I was originally a full-time entertainer (sang with bands, club DJ, also ran dance troupes and promotional staff). I am very open-minded, friendly, neat, a good cook, reliable, and very respectful of other people's homes and gardens. I am also quite fitness conscious and jog and go to the gym regularly (my wife is a fitness instructor). Non-smoker, but do not begrudge others. I enjoy good food and wine, conversation and travel/exploring, and especially having a good laugh. My wife is a wonderful woman, who is originally a Malaysian Chinese from Kuching in Sarawak (Borneo) and is part Dyak (well, Iban to be exact - the sea-going Dyak). We are both dual Australian/UK citizens and met in Glasgow, Scotland, where she lived for 20 or so years. She is much more sophisticated and well traveled than I am and is universally well loved by all who meet her (including, of course, me in particular). I love an adventure and also cooking. My wife is a stickler for cleanliness, and does not mind luxury, yoga and massages. We both love to eat the local food and walk/cycle everywhere as we see fit. I only speak English and a little French, but Beng speaks Mandarin, Hokkien and a little Bahasa Malaysian.
Robert Cairney purchased this House in 2016
Why Robert Cairney chose Dulcot
My wife was adamant she wanted somewhere extraordinary while we were still up for the work getting it into 100% tip top shape. We bought it specifically for tourist accommodation, but thought if it did not work out ... hey, we would not mind living there!
What makes this House unique
You have an extraordinary vista and peacefulness with wonderful wildlife, but so close to town with a freeway straight to the city centre. A scenic rural highway drive of about 7 minutes gets you straight onto it. You get to stay in the heart of Tasmania' s 'Tuscany' surrounded by chocolatiers, cheese and meat producers, award-winning wineries, and the National regional restaurant of the year for 2017 is 2 minutes' drive. The one that won it in both 2015 and 2016 is straight next door! Quite extraordinary. You also get a head start for day trips onto the Tasman Peninsula and day trips up the magnificent East Coast, and you can go the scenic backway to MONA missing all the traffic. Historic Richmond, 5 mins up the road is a major tourist town and there are the fabulous Bonorong Wildlife Park and Zoodoo nearby.

Absolutely fabulous house and view!
We had a wonderful time at The Panorama. The house is extemely well appointed - great beds, high quality linen, ducted air, fabulous bath and so much more. A lovely suprise was such a well appointed kitchen - better equiped than any other house I have rented.
Thanks for a great stay Rob.
Beautiful house, lovely hosts - spotless home
Spacious and bright, a great place for a family holiday - close to Hobart, wineries mini golf Richmond and port Arthur.
Great location and outstanding house
We’ve stayed at a air number of properties through Airbnb, Stayz etc. and this was by far the best place we’ve stayed. Beautiful views, well configured, comfortable, amazingly equiped (especially for kids), a slide and cubby in the garden, wallabies and wineries on the door step! Plus the owners were great - so helpful, great communication and all round a pleasure to deal with. We’ll be back!
Thanks Laura for your lovely review. We do like to be helpful - it is our aim to give our guests the best holiday we can. We look forward to hosting your family again in the future.

Great house in every respect
This is a beautiful house -- good bedrooms, nice bathrooms, large common areas, nice kitchen. Location is excellent in terms of being convenient (15-20 mins to downtown Hobart, 5 mins or so to Richmond, easy access to some good wineries and the Wicked Cheese shop, etc), yet also quiet and private. We had a strange group over the New Year -- mostly family, some friends, a changeover on January 1, and it all worked out great. Everyone was comfortable and happy. Highly recommended if you're thinking of staying near Hobart and want a larger house rental for a period.
The best of the best
The Panorama is the best holiday house you will get in Hobart. We have a total of 10 adults for our family trip with most coming from overseas and was absolutely stuns of the design of the property and the cleaness its present. We enjoyed our stay very much and will highly recommended.
Perfect Family Reunion
The Panorama was the center of our family’s Christmas holiday reunion. With so much space and complete amenities, we were very comfortable and felt very much at home. We loved being so close to the wineries with topnotch restaurants, the beach, the whisky distillery and the supermarket. Hobart was a short drive away so we also got to enjoy the Salamanca Market and found it convenient to catch tours as most of them start there. Rob was quick to respond to all our questions and requests many months prior to our arrival, and during our stay there. He and his wife Beng were so sweet to put up a little tree, some decor and a stocking full of presents for our grandson as we were spending Christmas there.
