Overview

Bozeman Cabin Rental Photos and Description

2 bedrooms, 1 full bathroom, sleeps 4

This quintessential Log Cabin in a secluded creek side setting in the forest is perfect for your Montana holiday, Summer, Fall or Winter.

Located at not one, but two, end-of- the-road forest service trail heads, direct routes to hiking, mountain biking, hunting, fishing, skiing, 4-wheeling and dirt biking, a backpack to a forest service cabin and mountain lake, cross country skiing/horse trails/huckleberries; and yet close to town (7 miles) for shopping and dining within a 6 blocks area. The house is surrounded by State forest property and is one mile from the National forest boundary up the Bear Creek Trail.

Two blue ribbon trout fishing rivers, the Yellowstone and the Gallatin, as well as the Jefferson and Madison to complete the trifecta of rivers comprising the headwaters of the Missouri river, are less than 20 miles to the east and the west.

Both the north entrance and the west entrance to Yellowstone Park, open year around, are within easy driving distance of the cabin. Guests often drive the loop via the North Entrance at Gardiner via the stunning Paradise Valley and paralleling the Yellowstone River with numerous fishing access sites for closer inspection, and, you know, fishing... exiting the West Entrance in West Yellowstone, featuring the Grizzley Discovery Center, returning via the scenic byway through the Gallatin Canyon paralleling the Gallatin River with it's numerous fishing access sites for closer inspection, and, you know, fishing...and back to Bozeman, conveniently passing the Coffee Pot Bakery Cafe and Ceramic Art Gallery to share your adventures over world famous pie and coffee. It's something you never do at home. Enjoy the sights of the park, but make sure your end of loop is in the daylight because the scenery on either end is breathtaking.

In winter, there is skiing right out the front door for cross country or alpine touring with skins. The home is located in an area which is a popular ski touring venue and is a short drive from two major alpine ski resorts, Bridger Bowl and Big Sky, and a major cross country touring center, Bohart Ranch in Bridger Canyon.

Fly Fisherman will appreciate the features especially designed for fly fishers such as racks for drying waders, outdoor hydrant for washing gear, clothes dryer, fly tying bench, equipment for watching videos, etc.. Also fly fishing art works by the artist/owner are displayed throughout the house.

Bozeman is the home of Simms Fishing Products Company and is the home of a number of fly shops which are linked on the home's website, because...

"There will be days when the fishing is better than one's most optimistic forecast, others when it is far worse. Either is a gain over just staying home."

...and for that reason, we welcome you to Bear Creek Trail Head Cabin.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Thank you for allowing us to stay in your beautiful little oasis just outside of the city. Beautiful fishing along the E. Gallatin & Madison and a wonderful day trip to historic Virginia City. The cabin was comfortable and provided for a wonderful spot to relax after long days of activity.

p.s. We loved all the pictures & art works.

Perfect family getaway.

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was rustic, loved the coziness. It was perfect for a family of four. We cooked most breakfast and used the grill for some of our dinners. It was very close to the University about 15 minutes, yet felt secluded because of the location. The sound of the river was very relaxing. Would recommend. However, slow internet access and our cell phones did not work in the cabin. It had a landline though.

Bear Creek Trailhead House

  • 5 of 5

Very nice ... exactly as described. The owners were great hosts plus they also enjoyed birding. Close to Bozeman but had a country feel with trails very close. If the opportunity arises I would stay at the Bear Creek Trailhead House again. Thanks for a great week!

Notes:
Bear Creek Trail Head Cabin is conveniently located 7 miles from Bozeman and MSU, (Exit 313-Bear Canyon) and provides a quiet secluded setting at the end of Bear Canyon with the convenience of a quick trip to town. The quiet rustic setting and decor is the Montana experience you seek during any season. Two recreational trail heads right outside your door lead to hiking, biking, or dirt biking for the afternoon; or backpacking and hunting for the weekend. Imagine cutting your own tree at Christmas and dragging it home. In early fall, the elk are bugling nearby, signaling the impending change of colors as cool mountain air slips down the mountain in the evening to lull you to relax next to the creek before bedtime. Spring, June for Bear Canyon Residents, brings unfurling leaves, new deer, turkey, and bear, and no place you'd rather be than under the metal roof of a cozy cabin with a good book and a cup of tea as spring rain brings an end to the last remnants of snow. Welcome home!
