A great apartment in a great place!
We really enjoyed La Rochelle. Lovely old town and port, quiet beaches, and some good quality restaurants. Ile de Re, the Maritime Museum, and especially the Aquarium are well worth seeing.
The Apartment? Splendid! Clean, well set out, with everything you would need close to hand.
Showers are important to us, and this one was excellent. Lovely balcony for al fresco dining, very effective awnings for shade and privacy. Best part? The owners. Two of the nicest people you could hope to meet. Friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Highly recommended!
To anyone staying in the La Rochelle area, I could not recommend a better apartment - it was truly perfect.
Elizabeth & Alain were a pleasure to deal with, from our first enquiry to our departure. The Apartment is just as shown in the photos, spotlessly clean, extremely well equipped and most comfortable. We hired bed linen, towels etc, all fresh and luxurious. Our daughter joined us for a week of our stay and the fold-out bed in the lounge room was quite comfortable. Despite 3 adults in the apartment we didn't feel too crowded, with the covered terrace used as our eating and lounging area.
The apartment is very sunny, with full windows facing west onto the street and south, but the blinds and shutters allowed control of heat during the day, and street lights at night.
For those with cars, there is pay parking immediately below the apartment (free overnight) and convenient free parking about 150 metres down the road. However the railway station is only about 10 minutes walk from the apartment, and serviced by TGVs.
As for the location, the apartment is in a quiet part of La Rochelle, but only a 10 minute stroll to the centre with its shops and a further 10 minutes to the daily covered market. Or the shuttle ferry is 100 metres from the front door for a 2 minute crossing to the restaurants opposite. The tourist office is 5 minutes away.
There is also plenty to see & do in the nearby seaside villages as well as the various islands, lle de Re in particular. This was our first visit to La Rochelle, but we would love to return - and I wouldn't stay anywhere else.

An Excellent Apartment in a great location....
This is an exceptional quality apartment in a great location . The facilities were excellent , the property spotlessly clean and all the equipment was explained well and most had the original service booklets as well . Unlike some other apartments it had a great range of crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils which was much appreciated. The location was lovely and we recommend the "Passeur - solar powered ferry" to glide across to the Old Port for the evening where there are some great restaurants , also recommend the aquarium plus a trip out to the islands
The owner was lovely and ensured everything was the best it could be ... All in all we would not hesitate to recommend this for a lovely holiday
Propriétaires accueillants, appartement sympathique, très bien situé (suffisamment proche du centre ville pour s'y rendre en quelques minutes et suffisamment éloigné pour être au calme).
Nous avons passé un très bon séjour.

Cet appartement est idéalement placé (sur le chenal du port) , très bien organisé et avec une orientation sud et ouest très agréable .

Très bon accueil des propriétaires. endroit est clair ,fonctionnel.il y a vraiment tous .un parking gratuit ,ou il y a toujours des places .le balcon très agréable. Immeuble est calme et propre .je conseil cette location .
Quarter of the city in wood, close to the city center. At the foot of the library, in secure luxury residence with views of the channel and the lantern tower. Old port, aquarium, Museum of the Navy at 500 meters, museum of automata and models at 500 meters tourist office at 200 meters, railway station at 800 meters, beach at 1.5 kilometers.
Sea bus and bike station nearby.
Cruises Inter Islands: Fort Boyard, Ile d'Aix.
